We had a lovely time this week at Heaven's Gate. The cabin is in a very remote neighborhood 30 mins north of Durango which made it convenient for trips to Silverton and Ouray. A couple of things about this place that prevented me from providing it 5 stars. This property is not managed locally which causes a delay when and if you have an issue with the property. The code for the dumpster did not work. We didn't find this out until we had two bags of trash in our car that we were planning to dispose of on our way to Silveton. We called the management company in Salt Lake who couldn't help us and had to call the local site manager to call us back. We knew there would be a delay so we ended up taking the trash to the gas station down the road. The local management rep called us back 45 mins later and told us that there was an issue with the dumpster and that we should just find another place to dispose of it which we had already done. If he already knew that there was an issue, why didn't they reach out to there renters and notify us? It's a good thing we didn't wait until the morning or our departure to take out the trash! Regarding the cabin, it was FULL of flies when we arrived. I've actually never seen so many flies in one place in my life. We were killing flies the entire week of our stay. Also, the cold water in the main bathroom sink only works for a min or two. After that, it's all hot water so if you're not quick to brush your teeth, you'll need to use the kitchen sink like I did all week. Hopefully the owner can check on this as it seems like a small fix. Overall, we enjoyed our time at Heaven's Gate and would recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in a remote setting near Durango.
