Snowboarding Trip
This was a really nice spot to stay if you are looking to snowboard/ski Purg. The house is well equipped with everything you need and plenty of room. They are not kidding about the 4x4 and quality tires though, definitely necessary during the winter months. I would definitely book again.

Quiet retreat
Took the family up to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature. House was perfect for our stay. Close enough to town without too much hustle and bustle. Area was beautiful and quiet. House had everything we needed. Didn’t cook at all so can’t comment on how stocked kitchen was but the rest of the house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Enjoyed the house and area so much we are returning next month with hopes of seeing the foliage change.

Nice Cabin
Property overall was good, but could use some minor repairs. While dishes were provided, could use a few more silverware. Other than the things mentioned, all the other amenities was spot on and very nice.

3 Night Stay
We had a great time in Durango. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. There is no A/C so it did get very hot in the house during the day as are stay was in July. It cooled off enough to sleep at night.

Nice Cabin In The Woods
The cabin is clean and cozy. The kitchen is large and we’ll-equity. It’s in a great location, private, and quiet. The host, Blithe kind and responds quickly.

Great place
Great place to stay! Close to ski resort. The house was great! Had everything we needed. They are serious about the 4wheel drive. Would stay here again. Wish we had more time to stay longer.

Light bright cabin the woods
A very well equipped and comfortable cabin in a peaceful location in the woods with plenty of space for a large family or group of friends. Great location for the San Juan mountains , Silverton and Durango.

Sweet Mountain Cabin
We rented this cabin for our fall break. The location is amazing! The property is close to Durango and Silverton which makes it a great base for exploring lots of different places. The owner was easy to communicate with and accessing the property upon arrival was seamless. When we arrived, the kitchen counter and dining table had not been wiped down and there was quite a number of dirty dishes in the cabinets. Everything else was clean and well stocked. Some of the kitchenware (pots, pans, utensils) needs replacing. Overall, a great property. A few small updates would make it a 5 star place.

Quiet, spacious, and well stocked
This house sits high up about 10 minutes off the main road and half an hour from Durango and Silverton. It’s clean with plenty of room. Kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, glasses, etc. You get views of Castle Rock Peak (also a nice hike close by) from the living room. There were elk in the national forest land that starts right behind the house (steep, no trails, some bugs, but very wild. Bring GPS.) about 2 hours from the cliff dwellings in Mesa Verde National Park which are a “must see.” We were there in mid August, and didn’t have any problems with heat or bugs that others had mentioned. It can get warm if it’s sunny but it’s easy to open up and let the breeze through. They could maybe straighten up a bit around the outside, but no complaints, it was a great base for our week in the Durango area.

Mountain Vacation
This was such a cool location and the house was super cute. It was peaceful with beautiful views of the mountains. The only negative thing I would say are that the mesquites were bad, but that’s a part of being out in nature, so bring your bug spray. It was directly in the middle of the town of Durango and Silverton. We made a day of exploring each town. We had an awesome time and we would stay at this house again!

Back in the Woods
My family stayed in this house when we went on a ski trip in February. The two girls stayed in the twin bedroom, and the boys had the other bedroom and the loft upstairs. My husband and I stayed in the room downstairs. It was a great set up for our group. The beds were comfortable, the place was clean, and there was plenty of hot water for showers. We did our own cooking, and the kitchen is well stocked with pans, skillets, bowls, and utensils. Be sure to look in the little cabinet under the stairs. We enjoyed playing games at the kitchen table. We were going to start a fire one night, but there was not a match to be found. This house is the farthest one back in the neighborhood, and the owner is not exaggerating when she says that you will need four-wheel-drive or tire chains in the winter. We had two vehicles; we needed chains for one, but the other one is all-wheel drive, so we did not use chains. However, if it had snowed during our stay, even our all-wheel drive vehicle would most likely have needed chains.

Great Location for skiing
If you are skiing at purgatory you won’t find a better location. It takes about 8 minutes to get out of the neighborhood and less than 2 more minutes to get to Purgatory. If you are visiting during the winter you definitely need 4WD. We had an F250 and and F150 and both needed 4 High to make it. The bedroom layout of the cabin worked great for us - two couples, a 13 year old, an 8 year old and a 12 year old. Comfy seating is limited in the living room but you can pull chairs in from the dining room or sit on the fireplace. The fireplace is fantastic and there was plenty of firewood. The queen bed upstairs is not in good condition and should be replaced. All of the other beds were ok. There are plenty of pillows, blankets, and fans. The bathrooms were a bit small but functional. Generally the cabin was clean but could use a deep cleaning - ceilings fans, light fixtures, windowsills, etc.

Beautiful scenery
The house was on the side of a mountain down a 2 mile snowy road which had been kept clear the whole time we were there by local people with their tractors. Was such a beautiful “Winter Wonderland “. The scenery was so beautiful! Pictures don’t do it justice. The house was clean, but the pantry and fridge were overflowing with other renters “left behinds “, which we tried to clean up before we left. Beautiful wonderful stay.

Big Pine Trail
This was a spacious cabin, located very close to Purgatory. It was nice to come back to the cabin after skiing all day and relax with our family by the warm fireplace. Occasionally other vehicles were stuck in the snow, and they blocked the road to the cabin several times. Please heed the warnings about having 4 wheel/AWD/chains on that road in the winter. All in all, it was a wonderful place to stay.

Mountain Getaway!
This property is outside of Durango, close Purgatory Resort. It is secluded, quiet and peaceful. We liked that it was about the same distance to Durango and Silverton, and we were able to explore both. Cute house with lots of room for kids :)

Nice remote get away.
Nice property at the end of the road near Purgatory. Well appointed and comfortable. We suggest the main mattress be replaced since it has a dip in the middle creating unnecessary coziness.

Beware of no AC.
Beautiful cabin. Had everything we could need. We stayed in July, so we did not need a 4x4 to get there, but I can see where you would need one. I am aware that in the listing it states that there is no air conditioning. When we arrived, the inside temp of the cabin was 89 degrees, with it being even hotter upstairs. It was absolute misery to sleep in that. No amount of fans and open windows would drop the temp down. So if you stay in summer, please be aware of that. There were also popcorn kernels in every cereal bowl in the cabinet from a previous guest. But other than that, it was a very nice cabin with everything we could possibly need.

Great Spring Break!
We had a wonderful trip! House was clean, and has plenty of room. Outside of dated and worn furniture, everything was great! There were some issues, but the owner responded quickly and had the issues addressed. Beautiful area!

We loved this cabin. It was perfect for 2 family’s with 2 teenagers. Definitely, listen to the owner when she says that you need 4-wheel drive. We saw quite a few cars sliding down the winding roads that lead up to the house. The stars at night were out of this world.

Snow getaway
Second time at this cabin and already booking in the fall. This place is amazing. Very clean and spacious. Has everything you need. Considering we like going to Silverton to adventure, this location is perfect. It’s about equal distance from both places we like. Durango being the other. It’s also close to our 3 favorite restaurants. Olde schoolhouse, sows ear and James Ranch. You will definitely need 4 wheel drive to get to this place in the winter. But I did manage without snow chains. The owner Blithe is always available if you need anything or just have questions. This will always be my go to visiting Colorado.

Winter Wonderland
The property and location where amazing for a snow filled get away. We enjoyed the area and the house. Only two minor things the listing and communication said there was a hot tub and it had been removed. Also the mattress in the upstairs bedroom needs to be replaced. These items would not keep us from staying again and the owner was very nice and responsive to questions. Had a wonderful NYE

My son wanted to enjoy the snow for his birthday and this was the best location. the view was amazing. We would love to go back. just the heater was not working very well in the kitchen and living room and we had to keep the fireplace on.

There was 4 kids and 4 adults , we had great space, no one was on top of each other. The house is clean and well kept. Anything you needed was there. You are between Durango and Sliverton. Great place to stay .

INCREDIBLE CABIN & VIEW!
Our family of 5 stayed for 1 week and loved everything about the cabin, its privacy, view of the mountains, & its close proximity to everything we wanted to do! It's only 5 minutes from Purgatory Ski Resort, and less than 2 minutes away from the Nugget Mountain Bar (for a great meal or drink). You will NOT be disappointed!!!

Everything was great with the home. The only complaint or drawback is that I guess the water in the home is not recommended for drinking. So be sure to bring plenty of your own drinking water.

Beautiful, remote getaway!
The house was tucked away at the back of a neighborhood and it was quiet and peaceful. It was a great place to get away for a bit. There's no longer a hot tub, but we didn't mind. The water was really hard, but we filtered it with my backpacking filter. You could bring your own water for drinking, too, if that suits you better, but it was fine for everything else. The house is so close by lots of hiking, climbing, and lakes that we had trouble deciding which adventure to go on each day. Overall, a great place to stay to get away from it all!

Great property with amazing views
We had a lovely stay in this cabin! Our experience was peaceful and wonderful family time. The owner was quick to respond and very helpful. I would stay here again without a question. Only observation as the snow melted off during the first few days of our stay, previous renters trash was found. (Lots of beer cans.) We cleaned them up not wanting to be held liable for the mess. Also, there is not a hot tub as stated in the listing. Very minor things. This cabin is highly recommended.

Good location but very dated everything else
Chose this property based on location and the ability to be outside in the San Juan as much as possible with the kids but above average heat and the worst mosquitos I’ve ever seen made more time in the cabin then was a good thing. Not very clean, all beds years past needing to be replaced and window screens in the house either missing or taped up rather than replaced. Guessing it’s an awesome winter unit but summer wasn’t worth the fees and found ourselves avoiding time at the cabin rather than feeling comfortable there. Crummy luck with the high heat / no AC and terrible bug issues.

Enjoyed the winter wonderland.
Beautiful property. Loved the hot tub after a day of skiing, and the kids had a blast taking the zip line and dropping into the snow. Overall a great experience! The only thing I would change is upgrading mattresses and fixing living room seating.

We loved our stay here. Tucked back from main road. Very convenient to ski at purgatory. House warms up nicely in 2 degree weather we had. It snowed 6” by noon one day. You must have 4 wheel drive and be experienced. Your higher up so even hwy 550 roads can be sketchy in winter conditions. House is truly fully stocked from batteries to spices and towels. Views are breath taking in morning. Easy clear instructions. Thank you Blithe for sharing your home. We will be back.

Nice views, quiet
Property is well-situation between Durango and Silverton, with nice views, about 1.8 miles up into a lovey neighborhood. We stayed in the Fall and the aspens were just beautiful. Overall house was comfortable but could use a little TLC (especially in the kitchen), we had to clean out space in the frig just to put in a few items. Owner was very responsive in addressing a couple of issues early in our stay.

Comfortable family vacation
Clean and comfortable vacation home for our family. We had 4 adults and 3 kids. Plenty of sleeping space. Kitchen fully stocked. Nice size laundry room and pantry. Lots of space outside to play. Fun zip line and hot tub. 4wd or snow chains are absolutely necessary. Beautiful view of mountains! Got an early check in. Owners were great to work with!!

We really loved our stay at your cabin. It was very nice a quiet and had a wonderful view of the moon and stars!!! We saw 3 mule deer with our stay. They were about 30 feet from the back deck. The weather was perfect and couldn't ask for anything better. Thanks
