    Come and enjoy a piece of Heartland Retreats (Bears Den) situated on 5+ acres. We offer serenity with convenience and easy access in any season. Bring only your clothes, toiletries and food - the cabin has everything you need,including a full kitchen, linens, and towels.

    We are 12 miles from Snowshoe Mountain SkiResort, the East Coast's premier year-round resort, great skiing&snowboarding in the winter and mountain biking/much more in the summer. Try a round of golf at the Raven Golf Course. There is plenty of activities all around for everyone in the family. We are centrally located for motorcycle touring. Pocahontas County is also well known for fishing with 8 rivers and streams flowing through. The Greenbrier River well known for fly fishing is also popular for CANOEING, KAYAKING and TUBING. We are 5 miles from The Greenbrier River Trail, popular as one of
    the fifty Millennium Legacy Trails. The trail is free and open only to hiking, horseback riding or nonmotorized bikes.

    We are 1 mile from the National Radio Astronomy Observatory at Green Bank, 5 miles from the Cass Scenic Railroad which is an Amazing Train Ride.There are approximately 8 state and national parks within easy driving distance, including Nelson Rocks which features a Via Feratta climbing system, one of a very few in the United States.

    There is something for everyone in Pocahontas County - train enthusiasts, motorcyclists, bikers, hunters, fisherman and skiers/snowboarders and we would like to warmly invite you to come and enjoy our Wild Wonderful and Beautiful West Virginia!

Great Place

My family loved the cozy cabin. Had everything we needed for our stay. Perfect location, close to all the places we wanted to see and do. Would definitely stay again!

Highly recommend!

Definitely would recommend a stay here! Cabin was very clean and had everything needed to have a comfortable weekend stay! Hot tub is a great plus as well! Will plan on staying here again when planning a stay in the area.

Excellent family Getaway

This cabin was everything my family needed for a wonderful long weekend. The cabin was clean and in a great location to enjoy the many amenities near by. I would recommend this cabin if you and your family want to enjoy a weekend bear snowshoe!

Great weekend in Snowshoe!

We had a wonderful time staying in Dunmore for a weekend in Snowshoe. The check in process was very easy, the house was very clean and even looked nicer than the photos, and the host was responsive when we had questions come up. We would definitely come back to enjoy another weekend at this property!

Just what we were looking for!

The cabin was cozy and clean. The jacuzzi was more fun than I was expecting and they have very movie under the sun. A good value.

Great location for skiing at Snowshoe

The cabin was even nicer than in the pictures. It had all of the amenities we needed and we really appreciated the gas stove! 25 mins to ski resort.

Recommend!

My son and I enjoyed our time at the house immensely. Very close to Cass, great fire pit, and the hot tub is an added bonus. Did not care for the neighbor across the street riding his loud dirt bike into the night, but otherwise a perfect stay!

Cabin in the woods

We had a lovely stay at this cabin. It was just what we needed for our family to rest after skiing. The hot tub after a long day was a very nice perk, especially for our son. Thank you!!

Cozy cabin

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It’s well-maintained. It’s close to the entrance of Snowshoe Mountain. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had. Wifi worked great, fireplace and hot tub are nice touches.

We enjoyed our time at the Bears Den. We were looking to escape and relax and that was easily done here. A few notes: we were short on the number of bath towels initially but found the extra bath towels in the dryer. Unfortunately they had sat wet in the dryer and were musty-requiring washing before being used.The kitchen was well stocked with cooking items for the most part but there were no pot holders which would have come in handy with the countertop oven—there was only one dish towel. The trash bins were extremely full when we arrived making it difficult to add our bag in when needed. Finally, the selection of sheets for sofa bed was limited to two flat sheets and no full sheet. There was an abundance of extra pillows but only one extra pillow case.

Cute, clean, great location

This was a get together for 3 60+ ladies. The home was clean and nicely decorated and everything in working order. Any issues are addressed immediately with the owner. The hot tub was great. It was a great location for visiting Green Bank, Cass etc. It is well equipped with everything you’d need for preparing meals. For those reasons I gave it 5 stars. However, there are a couple things people may want to know in advance and that is the hot tub is on the ground floor. You have to walk outside and down the steps and around under the deck for the hot tub. Not an issue unless you have mobility issues. Also the only bath is on main floor. Also, the only oven is a toaster oven so you can’t bake a turkey ;) I would definitely recommend the Bears Den

A Perfect Retreat

This is a great mountain getaway. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that this was going to be a special experience. First and foremost, the location was idyllic. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet conveniently close to local attractions, the cabin provided the perfect balance of tranquility and accessibility. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, you are immediately immersed in the beauty of nature. The property itself is great. Impeccably maintained and tastefully decorated, every detail has been carefully thought out to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. From the cozy living spaces to the well-equipped kitchen, you’ll feel right at home from the start. One of the highlights of the stay is the outdoor amenities. Whether lounging in the hot tub, grilling on the comfortable and accommodating porch, or enjoying the fire pit, there is no shortage of ways to relax and unwind. It is evident that the owners have put a lot of thought and effort into creating a space where guests could truly escape and rejuvenate. In addition to the physical aspects of the rental, the customer service was exceptional. From the initial booking process to departure, the property management team was attentive, responsive, and accommodating. Any questions or concerns were addressed promptly, making the whole experience seamless and stress-free. Overall, this cabin and the customer service exceeded my expectations in every way.

Worst year

I have stayed here two years now and this year was the worst. Right off the bat we was mad with the steps not being treated and me falling and busting my back and not being able to enjoy my trip and missing Snowshow with the family. We also asked for the hot tub to be warm and ready it was NOt! So the first night we didn’t even get to enjoy it! The kintchen was dirty with crumbs all over the counters and dirty towels in the closet. There was cob webs hanging from the ciling fans and in all the counters of the walls…. We was woken up both nights by near by dogs barking all night… last but not least my kids who stayed in the upstairs bedroom was eaten up my bugs!!!! I have pictures of my kids and are taking them to the doctor now!! Really would like to have money back!! $600 and some dollars no way!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!

Great cabin within 45 minutes of many activites

The cabin was very clean and well stocked. Lots of soft towels, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the hot tub was clean (as clean as can be when you can't drain and refresh after each and every guest stay). A great bonus was the washing machine and dryer for guests to use. There was no AC, but every window opened and there were plenty of fans, so that made it comfortable. The WiFi and TV and DVD player did work for us on our visit, so that was refreshing after seeing other people had issues with them. The ONLY issue we had was with the mattresses. The master bed sank in the middle and we woke up feeling sore and tired. Not a great start to a 4 night vacation stay. The second night, we tried out the pull-out bed, but felt the springs. The twin beds in the loft were good, but we didn't want to spend our getaway sleeping apart, so then we placed 2 mattress toppers (provided with cabin) on the pull-out and it was comfortable. The mattress in the master is from 2007, per the manufacturer's tag. The pull out mattress is probably the same age. We won't consider retuning unless mattresses are replaced.

Rural Cabin

Clean & comfortable cabin in a rural setting. Firepit & hot tub were nice. We enjoyed our stay!
