Arrived at property at3.30 as stated waited till4 o clock no one came hotel looked closed down and in bad condition I don’t expect to have to ring people to let me in when I’ve been charged £198 spoke to hotels.com not received a refund

Thank you for your feedback but you came in before 3.30pm and i have told you what time the check-in was and i have waited until 11.30pm you have decided not to show so you booking was charged as you have not turned to come and stay. Please next time you make sure you READ the checking in and out time and all the teams and conditions before you make your booking as false reviews can damage good businesses.

Oh no
Got to hotel and thought omg what have I booked, place was closed, in darkness and a sign on door to phone to get let in. Had to be let in through the side door, stairs up,stairs down,doors n corridors. Knackered by the time we got to the room. Bed was clean but very very soft. Mirror broken. Wouldn't recommend this hotel at all.

We are very disappointed with what has been said as we got all the pictures of the stairs and corridor showing Next time you book to stay any where else make sure you look at the property pictures and read all the details for no further disappointment as false reviews can damage good businesses hope you bare this in mind in the future time. Hotel review
Nice clean room with en suite shower and tea/coffee making facilities. Good central location and plenty of eating places in town centre. Recommended

An odd place but a comfy bed for a night
A freezing day in February. Single room with comfortable bed with a n effective duvet. Room was a bit cold but slept well enough. Shower small but with great water pressure and lots of hot water.

I needed a hotel on route to the ferry and choose to stay here. The gentleman who met me on arrival was very helpful and pleasant, unfortunately the bed was not comfy and the noise from the street (people out drinking in the pubs) meant that the 6 hours sleep I was hoping to enjoy was greatly reduced. The room was £120 but to be fair I think £50-60 would be a better price.

Overnight Stay
Stayed this week. Hotel is ideally situated for town centre. Made very welcome. Early check in was a bonus. Room and bathroom clean and very spacious. Would definitely stay again.

Thank you for your feedback it is not very run down guest house i have explained you and showed you the room before you checked in if it was run down hotel like you said you shouldn't have stayed there it is what you have paid you get SO NEXT TIME IF YOU WANT SOMETHING NICE PAY THE EXTRA hope you bare this in mind as false review can damage good business.

Room was spacious but the sofa was a bit grubby but bed was comfy. Decor was rather bright and bathroom needed some tlc. I probably wouldn’t choose to stay here again but it was fine for one night.

We did not stay as the place looked derelict and when I looked at the bedroom it felt cold and dated. Wouldn’t recommend to anybody to stay

Ok place but we will not book it again.
It is a ok place. Nothing special. There is not reception. We have to call a number that was in the window and a person took over 15 min to come and meet us. They tried to charge us £10 more than the price we book for. We are not coming back for sure.

Great location, very old and tatty, carpets dirty and worn, uncomfortable bed, the only good thing about it was the location.Very overpriced with no breakfast, on my top 10 worst hotel list ☹️

The service was poor, my online reservation had not been accepted, so I walked out. The place is located in a poor part of the town and is itself in poor condition.

Can’t fault it save for price.
Well I haven’t seen that shade of orange in a room since the 1970s and it really is overpriced for what it is, but nevertheless it was absolutely fine for a couple of nights save for a spongy pillow. If they really went all out on a 70s theme then it would be fantastic, but I think it has been achieved by accident. Service was fine for what we needed.

Have stayed here before and really liked it. Right in town centre a kind of witherspoons below lovely breakfast. Went this time a disco below doesnt open until 7 so couldnt get access until then. Got up this morning no one about downstair area where you used to get breakfast locked had to leave keys in room and leave by a side entrance. Wont be back.

Was booked in for 2nights 8-10 th March and had booked online On arrival was informed that the hotel had no heating or hot water and the owner was incredibly cheeky. No refund offered in fact refused and my husband and I had to then book another hotel at further expense. Would definitely not recommend staying at the queensberry.. £133 pounds paid for nothing and the owners attitude was shocking.

Never again
This hotel was filthy especially within the communal areas and the toilet. The shower had body matter all over the tiles and through out the room and toilet the walls had spillage on them. The bar area downstairs had really loud music on all weekend with crowds of youngsters shouting and bawling outside late on so found it hard to sleep. Couldn't check out when leaving as the doors were locked and nobody was there so had to leave the key in an envelope and go out through a fire escape door. Never had anything to eat there as I was terrified I would be sick

We have tried our best to make your stay the good PLEASE IN THE FUTURE MAKE SURE YOU READ THE HOTEL DESCRIPTION AND INFORMATION PROVIDED ON expedia.uk BEFORE YOU BOOK ANY OTHER HOTEL TO AVOID FURTHER DISAPPOINTMENT. Please note that on a Friday and a Saturday night the property has a DJ with music played from 21:00 until 01:30. There is a floor between the bar and the hotel rooms so guests should not hear noise from the bar. However, as the property is located in the town centre, some rooms may be affected by noise from the street outside.Regarding the cleaning we tidy and clean all our rooms everyday if that was the reason you should have came and make a complain when you have checked in.

Worst experience ever had of a hotel - avoid!!
To check in at 10:30 pm, as we had informed the "hotel" earlier, I had to queue at a bar behind other customers buying drinks just to speak to the manager/owner who was serving in his lounge bar/ night club. (No sign of any "restaurant" activity.) I and he had to shout over the din of his loud music and customers. Eventually got his directions to the "on-site" free parking which was 100m away at the front of a furniture store that he owned. The front of his premises is in a restricted pedestrian zone! Then had to make our way through his clientele again with our cases to queue alongside others at the bar before catching his attention. His "reception" consisted of a key cupboard behind the same bar and shouted instructions as to how to find the room. We were then pointed towards a door, which only had one sign pointing to It, and it read "Toilets". This sign was unnecessary as its purpose became obvious as one climbed the stairs and passed those toilets on the first floor due to the smell! After negotiating another spiral stairway and a warren of corridors that smelled fusty and damp we found the room. We were pleasantly surprised to find it and the en suite clean and presentable. However it is the first time I have ever needed to play the part of the "hotel inspector" by pulling back sheets etc, to inspect what might have been hidden! We went out to avoid the noise but stayed in the room later as the lesser of two evils. The other option was sleeping in the car!

Please note that on a Friday and a Saturday night the property has a DJ with music played from 21:00 until 01:30. There is a floor between the bar and the hotel rooms so guests should not hear noise from the bar. However, as the property is located in the town centre, some rooms may be affected by noise from the street outside. Please note that the free parking is located off-site at 38-46 English St, Dumfries DG1 2BY. Please note there is no lift in the building and the rooms are accessed via stairs.

Check the reviews
Booked as a last minute and had a means of getting cheaper than offered. But even at the cheaper rate we were still shocked and the lack of quality this placed had. The bar it seemed was a loud night club which is fine but it felt a bit seedy when entering for your room where you have to pass the toilets for the users downstairs. NO BREAKFAST which is a bit annoying as it is highlighted in the room with a menu. All in all would not stay here ever again.

Great place to stay for a quiet nights sleep, a nice hot shower, strong wifi, comfy beds and fresh linen. The bar downstairs has a great selection of fresh beer, great spirits and kind staff. From what I understand the management has changed recently and the new management has done everything to make sure my stay was the best they could provide. A true hard working team. Thanks guys!

Not for business or families-cheap cheerful maybe?
I went for a business overnight and didn’t need to spend much time there and it was fine for what it was; cheap overnight in central location. The bar downstairs was modern and clean, relatively busy, customers were friendly and the staff welcoming. Check in was a bit confusing as it’s at the bar and they didn’t seem to be expecting me. The hotel was a different story, no lift and dated corridors. The room itself had what you’d expect; the bed was comfy enough and had clean sheets and towels laid out but the rest of the room was unfortunately dirty. The WiFi was quite poor for anything other than emails. Cobwebs on windows, food stains on walls, pink and black mould in the shower, dirty marks on walls. The room was very warm with no way to amend the temperature. The corridor had noisy comings and going’s until after 1am. I wouldn’t stay again but it’s doable for a cheap place to sleep and I imagine if you like a drink and wanted to socialise in the bar it would suit you fine.Not for business trips or families but would suit a cheap and cheerful overnight. Handy for train station, near shops and food. Personally didn’t eat at the pub itself so can’t comment on that. Hope that helps.

No on site parking as suggested
I didn't end up staying because the advert said there was free parking and when I arrived I was informed that the parking was at the side of a dark road that was 2 roads behind the hotel. Due to carry valuables in my van i require secure car parking which wasnt available here

False advertising
Not anything like the pictures. Got there and waited outside and made 10!calls before someone showed up to check in. No breakfast, no pub, and the rooms were filthy.

Hi Our check in is 3pm you and your family came at 1pm i didn't have to check you in and your sons in room 5 left a lot of mess which i was suppose to charge you i have even let you check in before 1pm,it was new year day and every where in town were shut,i have tried to return back your phone call more than 20 times but as it is a USA number could NOT to call you so please in the future before you give others any feedback try and read all the check in time. Room was clean but very cold couldn't get the radiator to work. The beds and pillows were brick hard. Corridors and stairs up to the rooms badly in need of decoration. The pub underneath didn't close until 2am and music blared until 1am. I knew it was above a pub but not that it would be so loud.

Hi, All our rooms are very warm most of our guest have to leave they windows open as they rooms are very warm all our beds are comfortable and have any complains about them about the music it does say that we have disco at the weekends and to expect noises.
