Peaceful Retreat in Dubrovnik

As others have already posted, this place is wonderful! From the initial communication with Maya right up to the check-in with Senka. Has everything you need for at least a week. So clean and comfortable. We were extremely happy there. If you are renting a car, make sure it’s the smallest you can live with. We had, what I would call, a mid sized car and boy was it hairy driving up the very narrow lane to the apartment. All in the spirit of adventure though, right?! As others have also mentioned, it’s a steep climb up from the Old Town. So we would walk down and Uber back up. Note, the Uber driver turned out to be one of the local taxis, lol. We did an overnight in Mostar, Bosnia. So worth it! Less touristy. Take your passports for the border crossing. The little town of Ston is also worth a visit if you want an easy day trip. The second longest wall in the world, after China’s great wall. You can climb it too. I didn’t. Was so done with steep stairs by this point! Don’t hesitate to book Maja’s place. You will not be disappointed.

What a great introduction to Croatia!

The terrace was absolutely amazing with a view of the Adriatic for breakfast and enjoying our wine in the evening. This apartment was very well appointed, spacious for the 3 of us and we really enjoyed our 6 nights here. Word of warning however, if you don't want to walk up 377 stairs from Old Town to the apartment take the #3 bus outside Pile Gate (buy a ticket at the kiosk). Then it's only about 140 stairs. We're in our 60s and 70s but we did it a few times in 30+ degree heat! The view from the terrace was worth the climb! Thank you Maya and Senna!

A lovely apartment

My wife and I stayed for a week. The apartment was excellent in every way. It was extremely clean, well equipped with everything you could need. Instructions and guides were helpful. It may not be the easiest place to find if you are new to Dubrovnik but it was very quiet. The balcony was a lovely place to sit in the morning for breakfast and equally lovely with a glass of wine in the evening. Dubrovnik has lots of steps (we counted about 300 from Old Town to the apartment but it was a peaceful and lovely sot to return to.

Wunderbare 2 Wochen

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt: die Wohnung ist hervorragend ausgestattet, es ist alles vorhanden, was man braucht - über die Begrüßungsüberraschung wie Milch, Saft, Obst, Kaffee, Marmelade und Schnaps haben wir uns gefreut. Weiterhin ist die Wohnung ideal gelegen, um in die Altstadt und an die verschiedenen malerischen Strände zu gelangen. Allerdings gilt es, durch die Lage am Hang viele Stufen zu überwinden - wie es in Dubrovnik überall der Fall ist. Senka - die Schwester von Maja - begrüßte uns herzlich und betreute uns sehr gut. Danke auch an Maja für die vielen schnellen Informationen und guten Hinweise, so dass wir viel sehen und erleben konnten. Von der Terrasse mit dem herrlichen Ausblick und den wunderbaren Sonnenuntergängen werden wir noch lange schwärmen. Dubrovnik ist eine tolle Stadt, in der es jeden Tag etwas anderes zu entdecken gibt.

Lovely stay just outside the Old City

Our family of 4 (2 parents, 2 grown kids) had a very comfortable 5 night stay. This was a great base camp for our exploration of Dubrovnik and the area. We appreciated having our airport transfer arranged for us, and being met quickly and efficiently for check-in. Amenities were just as described, and the balcony provided a lovely space for meals and sunsets (note: there is no awning, so you can really only be out there before the sun hits it). We appreciated being outside of the crush of the Old City, and managed the stairs and heat by walking DOWN and taxiing UP. If you do the same, you will quickly learn that it's a bit complicated getting dropped off at a reasonable place, as the apartment's street is not accessed by cars other than the residents. We ultimately gave the name of an apartment on the main road, which seemed to work well. This was an anticipated situation (the pre-arrival communication was great, and included maps and pointers on taxis and uber), but it still took a little learning. Then again, that's travel, right?

Great Dubrovnik Base

Apartment was just as advertised. It was very clean, comfortable, quiet, and well appointed for our family of four (two boys ages 13 and 11). The walk down to the old town was about 15 minutes and 20 minutes back up, not bad at all with the stairs. Highly recommended and we would stay here again if we are back in Dubrovnik.

Relaxing comfortable unit with amazing views

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights here and found it very comfortable and in a nice quiet residential area away from the bustle of old town but still in nice walking distance. The unit was nicely renovated with comfortable bed, nice kitchen well equipped with lots of pots, pans and dishes. It was also very clean.The best part was watching the sunsets at night over the ocean and seeing a large part of the city from the balcony. This has to be one of the best views in the city being up on the mountain overlooking everything.We sat on the balcony and had coffee in the morning and sat out every night with a glass of wine. Can't beat this. Would stay here again. Glen Kennedy

First class accommodations

It was a little hard to find but once we were there, it was terrific. Walking up and down the stairs to Dubrovnik helped work off the excellent food we had while inside the walls. Quiet with a nice view. Maya's sister met us and was so nice - could not have had a better stay.

Great appartment in good location

Lovely, clean, quiet & well furnished appartment in a good location for exploring the Old Town. Great balcony for relaxing on. We would definitely recommend staying here & hope to return in the future to explore more of Dubrovnik & the fabulous islands near by.

Ferieboligen var svært flott på alle måter. Leiligheten var ryddig og ren, hadde høy kvalitet på inventar og inneholdt alt som vi hadde behov for. Den hadde også en flott utsikt fra balkongen Plasseringen var også svært god. Kun en kort spasertur fra gamlebyen. Ellers en svært hyggelig og oppmerksom vertinne.

Incredible panoramic view, great central location, high end quality fittings and equipment.

Four of us stayed in early June 2018. We received a very warm welcome and were very pleased that there were several provisions so that we had no need to go shopping immediately, including wine and milk in the fridge, jam and homemade grappa, even things like washing up liquid, shower gel etc. All very welcome. The apartment is furnished to a very high standard including a fabulous kitchen with Smeg gear throughout. The kitchen was so good that we cooked a lot of our evening meals there which saves a huge amount on eating out, which can be quite costly, especially in the old town itself. We found that the best way to get around was Uber, just make sure you're on a main road near a landmark when you order, as some minor roads are not on their system. We found the cheapest supermarket to be Maxi Konzum, although the price of wine was the same in the local store which is called Pimo. Be sure to realise that there are lots of steps in Dubrovnik, we soon realised that an Uber from town was the best, especially in the hottest part of the day to avoid most of the 373 (we counted them) steps. Would we go again? Absolutely. Would we stay at this apartment? Most definitely. Highly recommended.

Well equipped lovely apartment

We really enjoyed our stay - the airport pick ups and drop offs went really well and we were met by the owners sister who showed us round. The apartment was very comfortable and well equipped- we loved Dubrovnik. It took about 15 minutes to walk to the old city and 20 minutes on way back due to uphill and number of stairs. Beautiful sunsets from the balcony- only small negative is proximity of main road which can be heard from balcony, otherwise perfect- would recommend.

Perfect for us

Have just spent a lovely few days staying at this apartment. The apartment is exceptionally clean, all the beds were comfortable, a good shower with no lack of hot water and with a lovely balcony to sit out on with views over Dubrovnik and the sea. The apartment is up on the hill but well worth the climb up the steps. Just take your time and enjoy the views.

Airy, beautiful apartment with fantastic view!

This apartment was beautifully appointed and had an amazing view. We stayed 3 weeks, the weather was less than perfect, but it was wonderful having such a pleasant place during the rains. Others have noted, but you must know it is a long hike to the old city, almost a mile. We didn’t mnd as it helped counter the wonderful food and wine. It was so quiet and peaceful. There are two grocery stores close by, with great selections of meats, cheeses, and produce. We cooked in several evenings and always has coffee and breakfast in the apartment. We highly recommend Bar Bota for oysters, Azur for interesting Asian fusion, YC Orsan for lovely lunch. And, you must go to D’Vino Wine Bar and take the wine country tour with Sasha! A beautiful apartment!

Clean, Comfortable, World-Class Views!

Apartment Maja was a wonderful place to stay during our visit to Dubrovnik. Our family of four had plenty of room to relax, whether in the living room near the air conditioner, the separate bedrooms where everyone had their own bed, or the balcony with sweeping views of the Adriatic Sea and city. Yes, there are a lot of stairs, but honestly - everywhere in Dubrovnik has stairs! The hike up the hill is worth it to catch the breathtaking sunsets. We absolutely loved our time there and would stay at Maja's apartment again if she would have us. My only footnote or helpful hint would be remembering she prefers payment in Euros upon arrival. We found that most places in Croatia preferred Kunas over foreign currency or credit cards, so just be prepared and your trip will go smoothly.

Fantastic base to explore Dubrovnik

We had a lovely stay at Maja's property. Everything is there that you need and it is very welcoming. Maja's sister greeted us when we arrived and showed us where everything was. It was a lovely added extra that there was orange juice, milk, jam and cold water in the fridge. The communal living area is nice and spacious and the outside terrace offers you amazing views of the area and the sunsets. There is air conditioning too which is perfect after a hot day exploring the city. There are a lot of steps back up to the apartment from the Old Town which can be tiring on a hot day but it helps to burn off the calories from all the lovely food on offer locally. There are also various bars on the way back up that you can stop at and rest. Maja is very helpful and always on hand to answer any query that you have - both before and during your trip. A couple of things to mention - the hot water in the tank doesn't last for very long. My husband and I often ended up with cold showers after our two children had had theirs, so make sure you stagger them. Also, if you are arranging your airport transfer through Maja, let her know if you have more than three bags. The amount we had was a bit of a stress for the man picking us up!

Flott og godt utstyrt leilighet med utsikt av beste sort

Sjelden har vi opplevd at forventningene våre til de grader ble innfridd. Leiligheten er rommelig med to store og gode soverom og et velutstyrt kjøkken med åpen løsning. Utsikten fra balkongen er fantastisk. Vi brukte den mye. Deilig å sitte i skyggen og nyte livet. Maja er etter vår mening en utrolig profesjonell og hyggelig vert. Dette er ikke en leilighet for deg som hater å gå i trapper. Men trøst deg med at det er kort vei til gamlebyen.

Home from home in a fantastic setting with warm and welcoming host

This apartment is easy to live in, comfortable and extremely well equipped. Maja was there to welcome us and show us round and then left us to settle in. Later in the week she responded very quickly to an enquiry we had. We took advantage of her offer to organise our transport to and from the airport which was both good value and efficient. The attractive apartment enjoys lovely views of the coast and we had daily spectacular sunsets. It is only 10 minutes or so walk to the old city although a little longer to walk back up! But plenty of opportunity to stop and enjoy the views whilst catching one's breath. There is a choice of 3 supermarkets within about 5 minutes walk- all offering slightly different if fairly basic provisions. The apartment is also well situated to take advantage of buses - personally we did not feel the need to hire a car. The location of the apartment on the hill behind the old city meant we enjoyed the breezes not found within the city walls. A pleasant place to return to after a busy day out. Dubrovnik itself was delightful and the apartment provided a good base for exploring locally and also to take trips further afield e.g. Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Kotor (Montenegro). Should we return to Dubrovnik we would without doubt rent Maja's lovely apartment again. Stella and Margaret June 2017

Our stay at Maja's apartment was one of the highlights of our trip.

Maja's apartment was very much as indicated on her website. It was spacious and clean and we felt very safe there as there were other tenants on the premises. Maja welcomes her guests with a bowl filled with fruit and provides all the basic amenities that would be required during your stay. She was very easy to communicate with prior to arrival and was available via email at all times. Although she was unable to be present during our stay, her sister and nephew welcomed us and were more than accommodating when we got lost upon arrival. Her sister actually met us and took us directly to the apartment. Being there was like being at home; very welcoming with a lovely view from the terrace. It was very close to the Old Town; within walking distance, although, as many have indicated, the area is hilly with lots of stairs and the street itself very narrow. We did not move our car during our 5 days there; we walked everywhere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay there again or to recommend Maja's apartment to our friends. We wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you Maja for helping to make our stay in Dubrovnik so memorable. It was the highlight of our vacation.
