Place is on a quiet street and awesome location to walk places. Wish there were more blankets to use. Furniture could be modern but does what it needs to do. Hot tub was great. Beds were firm. Felt safe in the area and enjoyed the convenient location to walk to royal oak theater. Getting in was easy. Would stay here again but would bring extra blankets.

The host was very accommodating and helpful! The house was very cute and homey but i found the kitchen lacking in some basics like a coffee brewer (there was only a Keurig type machine) and a steaming basket. I was there for business in the middle of winter so the hot tub, although only at 100 degrees, was a special amenity. It was very cold when I was there in January. I did not sleep very well because I also was cold each night; there was only one thin blanket on each bed and no top sheet. I turned up the heat before i went to bed, but the thermostat automatically turned down to 64 at night so i had to wake up to reset it each night to stay warm. The house is nice in a quiet location. There is a lot of space with a finished basement and a yard. I'm thinking that this home would be perfect for a late spring/summer/early fall stay.

The host and co host were quick to respond but there were some problems with the home that did not meet our expectations with the price point. We could have used some extra blankets, there were missing remotes, and a broken doorknob locked us out late at night. I have full confidence that the host will get everything fixed and back up to standards. He was responsive and kind, but he home did not meet our expectations for the price point this time.

Nice place, great location which we were looking for. We have been to Royal Oak many time to visit but we were looking for something different. Used the hot tub both nights to relax so that’s a bonus. Host was very responsive to my questions but had no issues at all, will definitely rebook again.

Good and bad

This house is in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to downtown. We had a little trouble with getting in, but Ian was very responsive and helpful. The house has been nicely remodeled with lovely architectural detailing on many of the walls. There were flowers, fresh fruit, and snacks available.The hand towel hanging in the bathroom was damp upon our arrival, and there was minimal toilet paper provided (1/2 roll on the holder and 1/3 roll in the cabinet). The sheets for the fold out couch were eventually located in the dryer in the basement. There weren't enough blankets, and the blankets provided were thin. We didn't find instructions for the gas fireplace and weren't able to use it. The hot tub was clean and well maintained. Ian graciously approved our request for late check-out. We paid well over 500 for less than 24 hours, and expected better bedding, sufficient toilet paper, and a working fireplace.

Rough night- was left stranded at night on birthday with no warning

I was so excited for this property, but my stay got cut short 3-4 hours in (no time for the hot tub!). The owner has predatory practices & asked for a sizeable security a deposit outside of VRBO, on top of the deposit I'd already submitted through here, which is illegal & against policy. Called police on me & my pre-approved guests at 12:30 at night without any warning to evict me immediately. He stated we had '15' people on the premises which simply was not true. We were respectful of the property & kept noise down. Even the cops apologized, said it wasn't under their control, & wished me a happy birthday. The agent I spoke to also noted that it was unnecessary to escalate the situation so severely and suddenly- & wished me a happy birthday too! A night completely ruined and money wasted. Feels like price gouging, looking for any reason to kick me out to keep the deposit and all other money. Sickening when you realize how much I & my loved ones saved and planned to make this happen and see it snatched away. Incredibly disappointed and saddened. Also concerned about privacy-- nowhere was a policy on cameras displayed, & the agent noted the only way he could've raised a report about us (beyond an incorrect neighbor report, which doesn't seem to be the case) was thru monitoring these- very creeped out that I was being spied on at night. I paid nearly a grand to have zero privacy or respect. If you want to be preyed upon & watched like a hawk, this is your place!

Location.. Location

Great and clean little home in the heart of Royal Oak. Perfect location for just about anything you need to enjoy yourself. Food, shopping, grocery stores, and downtown Royal Oak within minutes. Great host. I would definitely come back.

High Price for a Budget Location

Overall it felt like a very budget property charging premium prices, I don't feel I got my value at the price charged for a one night stay on a Tuesday. Nice, walkable location in Royal Oak and cozy first floor & back yard. However, under-delivered on expectations when it came to the space - the main area layout is different than pictured, the bedding was much cheaper feeling and lighter weight than pictured. The check-in information had conflicting codes between the property manager and the Vrbo app, leaving me locked out upon first arrival. Check-out information was completely unpopulated in the app, and all signs in the house were hand-written Post-It notes or leaf paper. It all felt designed to maximize profit and felt cheaper than expected, I did not feel I got my money's worth.

Good for short but not long stay

We stayed for 10 days and the rental simply isn’t set up for more than a couple day stay. Starting with the good. The hot tub is great and easy to use. The house itself has a good location and a ton of potential but the execution is lacking.

Cute Old Home

Not great curb appeal but once inside it is a cozy little home. Very warm inside. New window are tight. Streaming TV with an antenna setup. No cable. Internet works well. Hot tub is a very nice feature that I did not get to use. Laundry was nice to have! It is located on a quiet street. It is not well public lighted outside. Alarm for the house would be nice.

Great location and overall great place to stay

Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Very close to everything in Royal Oak. Our only complaints were the mattresses were very soft/worn in. Some minor electrical concerns. Multiple bulbs out, one dangling on the chandelier from previous damage, a couple outlets that were missing faceplates etc. We also had two adults and two kids for three nights and only had two towels and wash rags. When I asked if there were more we were pointed to the dryer (did get an immediate response) where we found one extra towel. Overall not very well stocked kitchen in terms of utensils (couldn’t find a wine opener, scissors, or any rags) but plenty to get you by for easy meals.
