"A very special place to stay as this was the family home of Florence Nightingale. We stayed in two bedrooms which were the rooms that she grew up in before she went to Crimea. This is not a hotel. It’s more of a guest house with a few of the rooms rented out on a nightly basis. The property is accessed through several gates so it’s on very private land. The views are amazing of the local countryside and there’s a very beautiful garden around the house and sheep in the fields a little further...

"Having stayed a few times over the years we knew what to expect . As usual all the staff were helpful and cheerful. However we stayed in room 6 overnight on a very hot day and night so the room was very uncomfortably hot and made sleeping a problem. We did notice there was an air conditioning unit in the ceiling which was not operating and there was no way to control it. "This was our second time in the hotel. We asked for the same room (in advance) and we got it . I wish there was air conditioning in the rooms. I love the little tea room with daily cake! It makes me feel like on a skiing holiday in a chalet"

"I stayed there because I had to visit some customers really close. It seems like this place it's more for weddinds or other celebrations than for staying in. The service was not helpful at all. Breakfast it's included but there was a team of people just chatting and nobody came to explain what could I order. I had to go and ask and they were not kind at all. I won't definitely come back."

"Wow! The most beautiful nights stay at The Peacock, the scenery, the room, the food, the staff. I didn't want to leave. I LOVED the little touches - the Peacock shortbread, the glass bottles for water/milk, bath salts. I've stopped in a lot of hotels and I have to say this stay beats them all. Perfect! Thanks so much. "The location is wonderful and it was very quiet at night. However, there was a bright light close to the window and no black-out curtains, so too light in the room for my liking. The breakfast was nice, but the poached egg was overcooked. The scrambled eggs looked nice though. Staff were very friendly."
