Extremely friendly staff, slightly disappointed on game drives, didn’t see the large buffalo herds. We found out when we were leaving they moved into a private concession had we known that we would have taken a drive there one day. Overall was very nice

great place to see elephants

Rooms are nice and are well appointed and staff very friendly. Limited menu for meals but the chef was great to work with on suggestions. Elephants come to drink from the water hole and the pool. East to find in Hwange.

Our stay in Gwango was nothing short of magic! From the moment we were picked up at the airport we were treated with warmth and kindness. The chalets are extremely well designed, and the resort is impeccable. I can’t even decide what my favourite part of this trip was, as each interaction, and each attention to detail surpassed all expectations. The resort in a short 5 min drive from the Hwange national park and to see elephants drink from the waterhole next to the property and monkeys climb the trees around is surreal! Our safari trip was also magnificent. Our guide Ngozi (I hope I’ve spelt his name right!) was so knowledgeable , calm and friendly and we got to see elephants, zebras, giraffes, lions, hippos and many interesting birds and wildlife. I wish I could have stayed there longer! Beautiful place made even more special with beautiful people! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! ❤️

Small houses but unique. Es fehlen Möglichkeiten etwas aufzuhängen .Einen Schrank gibt es auch nicht. Ruhig gelegen.Wlan nur im Lobby Bereich

Elephants drinking from pool were a highlight. Some nicities were missing e.g. soap in communal toilets, hand towels and washcloths in the room, napkins in dining room, formed paths to the rooms

Upgraded from a bush lodge to delux after noting only single beds available although booked for a couple..the price difference was quoted as an extra $30 but when it came to paying was charged an extra $47..no internet available and very limited menu.

Gwango er et fint sted, og meget billigt i forhold til andre steder i nærheden. Det ligger meget tæt på main gate til Hwange Nationalpark. Personalet var venlige og hjælpsomme. Men som andre skriver, noget irriterende at få stukket menukortet i hånden og vælge både tidspunkt og hovedret, inden man overhovedet var kommet på værelset. Vi boede i deluxe chalet. Værelset var MEGET koldt og mørkt, og virkelig underlig indrettet (badeværelset næsten lige så stort som værelset), ingen siddeområde indenfor, ingen kaffe/kedel, eller bare et vandglas. Restauranten er udenfor, også værd at tage med i betragtning i juli måned, når der er 10-12 grader efter solen er gået ned. En morgen spiste vi morgenmad udenfor i 8 graders kulde. Fællesområderne er super fine og indbydende, særligt ved poolen. Og, dette er ikke hotellets skyld, men der er omkørsel fra Hwange sydpå, som betyder, at lastbiler kører forbi næsten 24/7, og det larmer frygteligt. Alt i alt en fin oplevelse, men ikke mere end det.

I had a fantastic time at Gwengo. The locations unbeatable, perhaps 5 minutes drive from the entrance gate of Hwange. The communications with them were already excellent even before my arrival. The staff answered all my questions promptly. The resort itself is well maintained and well staffed. In one area it has a terrace with a swimming pool, where you can chill and watch animals pass by. The room is clean and tastefully decorated. Restaurants serve all meals. Try their croc tail! Overall, this is an upscale property priced at a mid range, with superb value. The best part of my stay was the hospitality by the staff members. Keith at the reception helped me throughout my stay. All servers for dinner and breakfast were courteous and friendly. At the end of my stay, the manager also gave me a ride to the closest junction to catch a bus. My only regret is that my stay was too short. Hwange is a great park. Next time I will stay here longer.

Hot water for shower weak, Power supply to rooms weak, USB ports for charging phones did not work. NB The biggest problem is that you have to park your vehicle about 200m from the chalet and have to struggle through the sand with your luggage and every time you need something from the vehicle. VERY INCONVENIENT!! Why not provide parking in front of or behind the chalets, there are ample space.

Hwange was wonderful. The lodge is on the more rustic side, but it is super nice. The beds are comfortable. Everything is clean. The showers can be temperamental, but there is plenty of hot water (my brother struggled with the shower in their room and to be fair, the showers did a bit of alternating between hot and cold occasionally). The only complaint might be that the walls are thin. But our group took up the whole section where we were so we weren’t bothering anyone else and no one else could hear us. The food was very good, though there were some menu items which they were out of. Most importantly, the staff were super accommodating. They pulled out the green laser and turned off some lights for us to have a better look at the stars. And Brighton gave the best game drive ever. He knew the animals, the birds, the trees… it was like having a science professor driving the truck.

Gwango stay nov 2023

Where do I start?! We stayed for 4 nights and it was just amazing. Every single person was so lovely and kind. Seeing elephants drink from the pool is something I'll remember for the rest of my life. Mahko took us on 3 game drives and his knowledge of the park and the animals is on another level, he's an asset to the lodge. The only negative I have is that we couldn't stay longer than 4 nights. I honestly considered feeding my passport to the elephants so I could stay. The lodges were spacious and lovely, beds so comfy. House keeping come in daily with fresh towels and to make the bed. The managers of the resort were also lovely people, so friendly and welcoming. I fell in love with hwange and without a doubt we will be back. If I could give it 10 stars I would.. I'd live there if I could! I thoroughly enjoyed being stuck at the bar because elephants were blocking the way to our room! Also, chef and the food are top notch too. I honestly can't speak highly enough of the place.

We stayed in the bush chalet, brand new, good beds. The staff is extremely friendly and the game drive into Hwange park highly recommendable. The place is still a bit under construction. Loved the fire place!

Excellent séjour, personnel très sympathique, très bien placé! Très belles chambres, bon restaurant. Il manquait juste du chauffage (nous étions en hiver austral avec des nuits à 4/5°...).

The lodge is perfect for a visit of Hwange National Park as it is located just 10 min from the entrance. The bush chalets are very clean and cosy and I very much liked the design and decorations. Everybody at the lodge was so attentive and helpful and everything was very well organized. The game drives were perfect and the guides are very knowledgeable and told us a lot about the animals and their habitat. Just bring warm clothes in May. The food was delicious. Elephants come to the water holes and the pool every day and it was absolutely amazing being able to see them from such a short distance. All in all I couldn't recommend the lodge more!

Staff ripped us off replacing our tires.

Enjoyed our stay except we suffered two punctured tires and the staff said they would help arrange us two new tires. It took them 48 hours to do so (meaning we had to extend our stay at the resort), and they charged us $60 per tire, a complete rip-off. I feel like they took the opportunity to exploit us given we would be stranded otherwise. For this reason, I feel disappointed at the service and wouldn't return.

Great venue for young and old

Enjoyed the stay although they are very much in the process of improving and building new facilities. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Service overall are good. The location great as it is just outside the main entrance into Hwange National Park.The ideal place for rest and relax after a day out in the National Park. All accommodation very clean and well cared for. The food menu are not very big, but foods prepared very tastefully.
