Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Saint Andrew vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, put in your passport, travel docs, bank cards and daily medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to while away the time. A juicy book and a phone filled with your favorite shows are some fantastic options. If you plan to catch more than just forty winks, a neck pillow and some noise-canceling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll step off the plane looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and fuels, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of an aircraft are not the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and take a cardigan as it can get chilly inside the cabin during long-haul flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are also a wise idea.
- Most travelers have heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by reduced mobility or inactivity. There are numerous ways to reduce your risk. Wear a quality pair of compression tights or socks, drink lots of water often and get your legs and feet moving. Walk around the cabin when possible or try out some simple stretches in your seat.
