Spacious condo close to beach. The only reason I would stay in another location is to be directly on the beach.

Expected More

Very disappointing, staff was rude when we were trying to check in. The condo that we got was super old and not enogh room for clothes in a very small dresser.

Not as advertised.

You'd think it would be fairly easy to book a beach condo. Not so much. We spent hours trying to find units close enough to the beach with nice amenities and a descent price. We used HomeAway.com as they kept coming up in the search. We thought it would make it easier. Finally we decided on Sterling Shores on Destin Beach. It looked very comfortable with a great location. All photos showed nice 2 or more bedroom units with the masters all up front facing the ocean. It was a bit strange having to wait while the agency got confirmation from the condo owner before we could actually book and when we did book, it took us to Expedia all of a sudden to complete booking. When we arrived, the condo looked great and the location was perfect. We get to our unit and it was not at all as advertised. It was a small 2 bedroom with both small bedrooms at the very back with windows at the walkway. We checked in well after 5:00 so we couldn't do anything about it until morning and when we did get to speak to the front desk, the fact that we had booked through a second AND third party meant we had NO bargaining leverage to get a better unit even with our legitimate complaints of black mold in the bathrooms and furniture that was in sever degrees of disrepair. We will go a different route for any such bookings in the future.

Overpriced grimy condo room.

Room felt grimy and stained. Towels were old and quite used. Dirty floors and long hairs stuck to bathroom cabinet door. Not an ideal vacation experience.

Beautiful view, but....

Common areas were nice, but our 2 bedroom was very outdated and old. Flooring was peeling up, cabinets were so cheap and felt like they could fall off the wall. When you use a third party they give you just any room they have, so you don't have a chance to see it. The bedspreads were so faded and old and looked worn out.

Nice not directly on the beach but close enough

Rooms were very clean and the walking distance to the beach was not bad everyone can use a little bit of exercise.Had two restaurants in walking distance and grocery store less than a mile away Great location

We stayed here last year and it was amazing!! We booked for this summer expecting the same.. little to say I'm very disappointed.. our units washer and dryer didn't work..but they didn't let us know that until I went to use it and water leaked all over the floor.. they didn't come clean it up.. and just told me not to use it.. With 6 kids and beach and swimming that was a huge inconvenience!!! Then when I asked for clean towels and bedding because I couldn't wash them they acted like they couldn't but then brought only towels.. out bedding had a big burn in it and the jets on our tub didn't work.. very disappointed!!:(

Great location. Average service.

This was our first time in Destin. The location of Resort was excellent, walking distance to beach, restaurant, and ample parking. The condo we stayed in was better than I expected with two large bedrooms, two bathrooms and full kitchen. The service at the front desk was average. They seemed to be troubled by me asking a few questions about trash collection and extra towels.

Great location, no amenities

This is not really a hotel, but a condominium building that has rooms for rent. When we arrived at the resort, there was a gated entry, but we were not given the code to enter. After 3 or 4 phone calls, we found someone who gave us the code to enter. The location is really nice and close to the beach, however there are no services or amenities provided. We stayed for 4 days and there were 4 of us, but there was a roll and half of toilet paper in the room and a mini bottle of shampoo.

Nice hotel/condo appt with all rooms ocean view.

It would have been a perfect vacation with a nice, clean and comfortable room with a wonderful view if we had not been locked out of the room for almost 3 hours. The electronic door lock stopped working and I made at least 5 phone calls to the numbers listed in the empty lobby door. The only number where they answered kept telling me that they were calling the concierge service in charge during the non-office hours and after 2 hours they said they were calling the manager, who never answered. They never answered the phones and the concierge finally got to open the lobby by 8 pm, 2 hours and 45 minutes after my first phone call.

Great First Experience At Sterling And Destin

This was our first time staying at Sterling, my first time in Destin. This was a great condo! We loved it as did the kids. The pool is great, just a short walk from the beach and there is lots to do around the area. We've added Sterling Shores to our "return" list for future visits. The only issue was with the TV in the master bedroom. The sound was not very good. We spent time snorkeling and there was lots of marine life (Fish, crabs, etc). The water is crystal clear and the sandbars made it much more kid friendly. We ate at the Donut Hole and the Pancakery for breakfast. Both great places.

The view was incredible but if this hotel/condo was located anywhere else, it would be very average. You are paying for the view and location. That being said, I would do it again.
