Overall, this is a beautiful unit and stunning views. I think any other time of year, we would have loved this resort. During our stay, the construction was horrible. We were warned of the construction before hand and told we would not have access to our balcony, so we expected that. But during our stay, construction started before 8am each day. There was banging and all kinds of noise. On the last two days, they were actually working directly on our balcony before 8 AM. It really disrupted our stay and was hard to enjoy the big family area with work and construction happening right there. Plus, on the last afternoon/night we were there, they were working on our balcony and the smell that came into our unit was horrible. I have two young children and I’m also eight months pregnant and we had to leave the room because of how strong the fumes were. We could not eat dinner in the unit. Once we returned, the workers were gone, but the smell was still horrible. We had to leave our front door open for well over an hour just to make it bearable. I almost couldn’t even sleep there the smell was so strong. We were unable to open the balcony door to let the air out because it is locked. During all these times, I reached out to the customer service team, and they did nothing about it. I was very unhappy with the way our trip went and the way we were treated.

At 1900 square feet, 4 bedrooms and three bathrooms, it was like bringing our whole home on vacation with us to the beach with a giant center balcony view of the Gulf. There are even two separate AC units for the front and back of the place. Having a washer and dryer was key to not having to over pack. The kitchen it fully furnished with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, everything if you want to stock the fridge and cook. There is a giant WalMart right up the road. Having the private beach next to the Back Porch restaurant was key also. We would stay in the same exact place again.

Wonderful Family Vacay!!

The penthouse was gorgeous!! It was a perfect size for our family. The balcony was my favorite part with stunning view of the ocean!! The only hiccup was at check in when we arrived, the gate code given to us did not work. Luckily the mailman let us in and then another guest offered us the gate code. Everything else was a dream!!! Thank you so much!!

Kitchen needs updated to island format to accommodate families. Too tight to be able to cook. There is a Keurig! Location is great! (Could use new pillows and extra pillowcases for the additional ones that are in closets.)

Washer/Dryer issues - otherwise beautiful condo

Beautiful condo and amazing views. The oversized balcony was fantastic. The washing machine was not able to spin and the dryer took multiple cycles to dry. This was reported to the property manager like those before us. According to Vacasa, the washing machine is not repairable and they are waiting on the owner to approve a new one. I would suggest looking into this prior to renting if this is an important amenity for you. Other than the appliances, we had a fantastic stay.

Not like it used to be

This place is in desperate need of a makeover. Balcony and bathroom doors do not lock, toilet paper holder broke, shower head in main bathroom not fully functionable, washer bad, freezer doesn’t open right, various bulbs out throughout. For the “penthouse” price felt more like the Motel 6 experience. Will not be back.

Great trip overall

This was our sixth trip to Sterling Shores. We love the property. The condo was beautiful, comfortable and apart from one broken ceiling fan and that one room being warmer, we enjoyed our stay. We were, however, a bit disappointed in the property management. We arrived late Saturday. On Wednesday, the lagoon pool, one of the features of the property, had to be evacuated at 4:00 p.m. The pool was completely drained due to a child having an “accident” in the pool. We were told the pool would be back in use by 10:00 the following morning. The pool was closed for two complete days. We left Friday morning which didn't give much time for lagoon pool use. There was also “scheduled” water maintenance to be done during the week on one of those mornings. We were told the water would be shut off from 8 a.m. to 5p.m. Fortunately, that didn’t occur but by that time we had already rearranged dinner plans to the following night to accommodate preparation, showers etc..for 6 people that would have to take place in order to go out for a nice meal. When we went down to discuss this with the Vacasa rep, she acted a bit irritated, repeated she knew nothing and had nothing to do with the pool or water situation. She informed us this was a HOA issue. When I asked where the HOA office might or someone I could speak with, she said she didn’t know and basically offered very little help or assistance. As previously stated, we have stayed at Sterling Shores multiple times. We do not want one trip with water and pool issues to spoil our desire to return to this property. However, we do consider the convenience of the pool and property as part of the amenities when renting the condo for the week. We vacation once a year and spent a great deal to make this time as wonderful as possible. In addtion, we were not made aware of a change, as of this year, to reserve beach chairs and umbrellas online prior. This was new. Last year it was first come first serve. All first and second row chairs and umbrellas were reserved before we ever arrived. We rented chairs at the adjacent property for $85/set up rather than $50.00. We hope to return to Sterling Shores but I sincerely hope the property management is a bit more organized next time. Schedule maintenance prior to the opening of summer when everyone has arrived. We booked last August for this June trip and would like to book in advance again.

Beautiful view

The property was as described, large, nicely furnished with a great view. You could watch dolphins from the huge terrace. Walking distance to several restaurants which was a plus. Two pools and short walk to beach. Easy check in and check out The only thing that was a drawback was noise. There was a frequent creeking noise that we spoke to the onsite manager about. She said they were working on it but it continued our entire stay. It was annoying but did not ruin our otherwise nice trip.

Perfect for Thanksgiving Getaway

Beautiful resort, great stay

Property is beautiful and the condo exactly as advertised. Very clean. There was a bit of an issue with the kitchen disposal leaking but management was on it. Management onsite and very responsive. Beach is stunning and beach service well worth it. We had four little kids and four adults and were very comfortable—plenty of space for everyone.

Best ocean view and location in Destin!

Absolutely beautiful view of the ocean! This is a very spacious penthouse condo with all the amenities of home. Gorgeous pools and surroundings. The most comfortable and accommodating property we’ve ever stayed at. The pictures are 100% accurate. We’ll definitely be booking this again next summer!

Outstanding Stay

We had high expectations when we rented PH10 and we were not disappointed. From opening the front door and seeing the ocean view to the large rooms to the great balcony, this property was great. Beach is a short walk away and was very clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a great time.
