Would rent again. Close enough to the beach, maybe 7 min walk but then have to walk another 150 yards in the sand to the public area of the beach. Both houses were nice, front porch was nice for morning coffee or evening drinks. Pool was nice as well! Cold AC and fridge. Easy check in and out. Nice area very close to shops and grocery. We walked to shops/ice cream several times.

Cute house near the beach

We had a fantastic time! The house was just as described and in a perfect location. We paid extra to heat the pool, and although it wasn’t as warm as I hoped, it was nice enough to get to enjoy the pool in January. The proximity to the beach was the best perk. I would definitely stay here again.

Stay was fine, the staff was very responsive. Only took off one star because we couldn’t find extra trash bags and beds were a little uncomfortable!

Plenty of room for our family

Liked that we could walk to the beach and restaurants. Everyone enjoyed the pool! Cleanliness could be better, floors needed a thorough mopping. There was some mold in the bathroom of the house by the pool.

Good value for beautiful Destin

Wildwood Cottage was nicely located within walking distance to multiple public beaches, restaurants, and shopping. The pool and pool area are wonderful. The front porch is lovely. Both master suites were spacious and comfortable. The kitchen could use a new fridge but the dining area worked for our group of 7 for dinners and cards at night. We truly enjoyed our stay!

Almost excellent

We enjoyed our stay, but there were a couple things that could have made it a little better. No Wi-Fi was a problem for the kids, a working pool light would have been nice and maybe upgrade of the sofas in the living area. A little more work on the front landscape would make the property look more inviting also and in the future new flooring but the stay was nice, location was great.

Nice home, location, and pool with a few quirks

Overall a nice stay. A few quirks like not enough towels or no trash bags are oversights. Biggest issue was the grill was filthy so it dangerously flamed up from all the old food and grease at the bottom. For the price we paid, I expected a little better attention to details.

Nice Getaway

Property is clean. Large master bathroom is fantastic. Large pool with bathroom and refrigerator close by is a plus! No shade by the pool, Bring canopy and umbrella. Watch your step on the two level deck. One deckboard needs maintenance. Note: Two blocks to PRIVATE beach; we had to move 500 ft to public beach (too far to walk with little ones). You will be asked to leave private beach during prime time. We enjoyed the Private beach at sunset. Kitchen is too small for large family, Overall, we enjoyed our week stay here.

Enjoyed our Stay

We really enjoyed our stay. We were 10 (2 family of 5) and everyone was well accommodated. The pool was the best of course for 3 kiddos and 2 teens it was perfect. And close walking distance to the beach. Of course it was a Hugh problem at the begging there was no network and we didn’t had wifi at the begging but someone came by and fixed it. The only problem we encountered and that is not really property related is the access to the beach we went thru the closest one and they didn’t let us stay there “private property” and had to walk further. We have stayed in this area before and had never had any problem to access the beach. But anyways would just be nice to note the correct Beach access now, at Hutchinson St and Pompano St.

Thanksgiving at the Beach

This beach house was amazing. We had 7 adults, 1 teen, a 2 yr old and 2 infants. We felt so comfortable and felt we had plenty of room. The table was long and fit all of us very well. Since we were cooking each night and Thanksgiving dinner, we brought a few baking dishes and pots and pans from home. However, the kitchen was very well stocked and we didn’t really need our things from home. The location of the house is amazing. It’s a very short walk to 2 different beach entrances. We loved walking around the neighborhood and riding the golf cart that we rented. We always felt very safe. The pool out back was heated and provided a great deal of entertainment for the kids. There are plenty of chairs around the pool for all to enjoy. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving week with our family and would definitely rent this house again!

Ad misleading

The ad was misleading. All the beaches close by were private and you had to pay. The public beaches were a much longer walk. The pull out sofa had no blanket we had to ask for one. The grill only had one pilot barely working. We asked for someone to come out to fix it. We were not there and I received a condescending email explaining how a grill works and it works just fine. So I thought to give them the benefit of the doubt and when we checked it, it was still not working. So we had to make another call and finally got it fixed. But we had missed days we could have used the grill. There was a house alarm that kept beeping every five minutes saying battery is low and kept waking everyone up. We asked if they can fix that when they were coming for the grill but they never fixed it and it was going off the whole week- rather annoying. Also we had roaches in the house.

Nice house, but Disappointed in Management of House

Our stay at this house overall was a good experience. Though it was marred by several events. It started with our check in process. We were told our check in was at 4pm. We arrived at the house after a 14 hour drive from Ohio. When we arrived at the house at 4pm, the cleaning crew was still in the drive way, and appeared to have just arrived. We waited in our vehicles with melting ice, cold food, and other items which required refrigeration or freezing. We waited a short time in our vehicles before calling the office. Though the employee we spoke with was extremely apologetic, we were on hold for approximately 10-15 minutes. We were eventually allowed to enter the home and put our items in the fridge, and/or freezer to keep items from spoiling or melting. Meanwhile, the housekeeper was cleaning around us. By approximately 4:30pm, we had our items in the house, but the cleaning crew was still working around the house. Over the phone, the management company stated they wished to "make it right", by providing a gift card, and/or gift basket to apologize for the inconvenience. We finished our stay, and never received any sort of gift card/gift basket, or any other compensation. Which I would not usually bring up. However, clearly posted on the homes refrigerator was a document stating we must check out of the home "Promptly" at 10am on the day of check out, or we would be charged an additional $200. There is more i will send in an email to the management company.

Needs updates, but it works

Overall, we had a good trip because we were with family and we aren’t a total bunch of Karen’s. However, the furniture has been a complaint in a few other reviews and it has yet to be updated. For example, the sleeper sofa in the guest house is awful… unusable. The “mattress” has to be older than me and is FULL of holes. Quite disgusting. The guest house is really nice though otherwise. They could really use more seating in the main house living room. The upstairs bedroom shower door doesn’t close securely. As mentioned in previous reviews, the cooking utensils are very sparse, so bring some with you. This is sort of my main complaint, the fact that all of these things have been mentioned/suggested by other people, yet they still aren’t fixed. Lastly, we paid for the pool to be heated, and I even made a point to ask if it would be heated for use upon arrival (to which I was assured it would be), but the pool heater wasn’t even on when we got to the house. Complete bummer for the kids, but we just turned it on and moved along. I know the response to this will be “we never heard from you, had we known we would have fixed the problem, etc” but to that I say, no one wants to waste precious vacation time going back and forth with a property manager that most likely isn’t going to or can’t fix the issues immediately. As I said, we made the best of it, but I would not rent this house again.
