We got to know the repairmen that came in daily

Pool, a/c units and fridge all needed repaired. We were lied to when I booked it so it's not handicap accessible but the views were fabulous

Capitano - great house (needs significant maintenance), great location, management co was no help

Capitano - Destin by the Sea just a few points to consider. I stopped keeping track. Exhausting… long story short it’s an amazing property not being maintained appropriately. The owners and management company should be embarrassed this is rented at a premium with so many things wrong and a management company that is non-existent to help.  Directions to get in the house should include that combination pad is in the garage on the entry door to the house. It does say that the kaba lock is through the garage if you know what a kaba lock is then you will be one. Not sure why batteries in smoke detectors would ever start beeping in a home that is properly maintained. Just change them once a year and you won’t get an emergency call at 9pm at night to come out.  Sink in downstairs bath won’t stop dripping. Sing in Master won’t drain properly. Fireplace in main room doesn’t work. Pool auto fill doesn’t work. We kept the hose in the pool to keep it full enough not to burn the pump up. 2 of the seven bedrooms do not have showers. This is not disclosed in the material but can be a rather large inconvenience if your party is all adults. Elevator inside door has severe pinch to sever of fingers risk. There is a “handle” that collapses as the door closes. Fingers in the wrong place and major cut! I found out the hard way! This is a safety violation that in a business would be fined by OSHA Coloring on stairs wall near 4th level. Stove top exhaust not working severely limits what you can cook inside. Tile busted inside bedroom 2nd level. Shutters unhooked or hooks missing in several bedrooms. Top level out door wet bar is badly damaged on backside. Inside of elevator is a mess. Control panel is loose, phone compartment won’t close, squeaks like crazy, inside door insulation is just nasty and non existent on 4th level. Railing around pool dented Automatic blinds need adjustment. Some lay on the floor when down. 2nd floor middle bedroom shower on/off is very loose Air conditioners seem to over cool. Hard to keep house a consistent temperature Baseboard not secured in kitchen at base of stove There really should be a broom and vacuum cleaner in the house. Not enough letters left in review to list everything wrong! We left a day early.

Beautiful beach week for 7 cousins & spouses.

We had a great time at Capitano. The beach was wonderful, the restaurant next door great & our place was opulent. We enjoyed the big kitchen, great bar & the pool table. Thank goodness we paid for heating of the pool, the cool weather kept us in the warm pool & hot tub. All 14 of us had fun & made precious memories! I would suggest a detailed book on how to operate all the lights, various doors, stove, oven & fireplaces. We had several fire places that are not currently operable & would have helped warm our bedrooms during the unusual cold snap in FL. Our 6th annual cousin beach week in now in the books! Thanks for the great home!

What An amazing home......... My husband along with family gathered together to celebrate my 50th birthday. Everything posted regarding the home was accurate, we had plenty of room for everyone, the views are just BEAUTIFUL . Thanks Five Star Management for the outstanding service you gave us.

Fall beach vacation

Destin, the beach and the house are just amazingly beautiful and fun!! We all loved this gorgeous home with the private beach right down the back steps, the pool with hot tub was an added bonus that the kids really enjoyed along with the pool table entertainment room :) this property did not disappoint from the views, the easy access to the beach activities, shopping and food!! The furnishings were high end, gorgeous, comfortable and the multiple floors provide ample space for everyone to spread out or gather. We can’t wait to plan our trip to come back soon and thank you so much for sharing this lovely home with our family! Cory & Tina

Vacation during pandemic

We loved that the beach was private, as was the pool. Overall the house is gorgeous. The location was great. We did take out from the crab trap next door two nights. Overall a great trip. Had some issues with air conditioning when we first arrived: especially on the 3rd and 4th floor (hot and humid). Had trouble with the refrigerator for the first few days - would not cool. We were disappointed that we could not use the tent canopy we brought to shade the small children on the beach. Beach chairs and umbrellas don't work for them. This should have been in the information about the property up front so we didn't waste money buying two canopies.

Great location

The Capitano condo is impressive in its size and great location. Five Star Rentals customer service was, also, outstanding. We had a great stay. The only negative is the facility itself is looking a bit dog eared and is need of repairs (i.e., the hot tub on the fourth floor was not usable due to leakage & many of the outdoor lighting fixtures are broken). Property owner needs to do a bit of refreshing of the property to restore the grandeur of the facility. Do not let the negative comments stop you from booking the Capitano. The location and size of the structure made for a great family vacation.

The support team for this property was responsive, professional, and un-intrusive. We believe that we had a memorable Thanksgiving as a family. The minor issues were handled and the cleanliness of the house on arrival was superb. Congratulations on becoming our family favorite.

Our overall assessment of this rental house was slightly more positive than negative. The location of the property is spectacular - right on the beautiful beach with ready access. Likewise, we found the people at Five-Star very friendly and mostly helpful with the information they had. Also, the prompt response to the emergency situations encountered at the unit was much appreciated. We did, however, note that there were also many issues with the unit and the need to schedule and monitor the many maintenance visits detracted from our time to enjoy the many amenities. We believe there needs to be a more thorough inspection of the property and actions taken to correct any issues identified prior to the arrival of a new renter. Also, a comprehensive listing of the property’s features would have been very helpful. To assist you in planning for your visit we included this list of things we did not know about. There were six coffee pots located throughout the house. Additionally, besides the full refrigerator in the kitchen, there was a full refrigerator in the garage as well as other small ones in the various bar areas. Another surprise was the operable ice machine in the kitchen and one on the fourth floor (which was not working). Likewise, there were two clothes washers and dryers (on first and second floor) and while it looks like there are two bedrooms without showers, there were hand-held shower sprayers in the tubs. The Issues we noted are: • WIFI essentially inoperative • Kitchen Refrigerator temperature fluctuating & one on the roof leaked water • AT&T Cell coverage required going out front to make calls • AC problems requiring emergency service • Grills extremely dirty/greasy, rusty, and very low on propane – our chef ran out of propane on the one outside the kitchen while in the middle of preparing dinner • Bedroom fan inoperative • Doorbell not working • A number of light bulbs need to be replaced • Bike broke down while out riding • Pool cues had missing tips • Exterior doors that would not lock • Trash cans were full when we arrived • Limited supply of hangers • Window Blinds inoperative - blocking the fantastic view We pointed out items that were not repaired during our stay in a detailed letter to the owner and president of Five Star after our stay. Since we have had no response to our letter, we hope that the management team has taken steps to make the necessary repairs so future visitors can fully enjoy the property.

Amazing house but needs some TLC

Amazing house. Attention to detail in the house itself is second to none. However, the house was in serious need of attention. Responsive property managers. Awesome welcome package. Amazing beach. House has incredible water pressure for great showers. Only 3 of 9 fireplaces worked for us and it was cold outside. Of the 3 that worked, neither was in the master bedroom or main living room. Our plans of sitting by the fire were nixed. No warning of this either. They knew about this problem. Upstairs hot tub, big issue. The hot tub had no lid and did not heat up. I was given half of my heating fee back. The hot tub leaked making for a moldy and slippery tile on the roof. The leaking tub then dripped on you in the pool. Running toilets x2 at least. Poor flushing mechanism in master toilet. 2 of the 4 rooms on the 2nd floor did not have showers in them. Just tubs. This was inconvenient for guests. Ice machines. One did not work at all. The other had some mold inside but was usable. Mold on the sprayer faucet in the kitchen sink was present. Half the blinds in the master bed room were nonfunctional and did not go up. Half of the view in the master was therefore blocked. Wifi. SUPER slow. Unable to stream anything. Essentially unusable. Now the worst part. The last day we saw a large rat, almost one foot. It scurried away under the island in the kitchen! It tore through some garbage. Also, the rat also destroyed garbage in garage removing a poo-poo diaper and scattering the contents around. One cockroach sighting on floor 3. Although this is probably the best beach house I have ever seen or available, it has been neglected to some degree. I would rent this again ONLY if all the above were guaranteed fixed and functional.
