What a magical place!

We felt both totally transported and absolutely at home in our lovely, low key desert getaway- perfect for those who want to escape to the desert in a quiet, secluded and characterful way. The outdoor pool area was so peaceful, The Getaway obviously attracts those of a similar, calm and respectful nature. We loved leafing through the fantastic collection of books as well!Thank you so much Eric: we will thoroughly recommend to anyone seeking a similar escape!

Too good to be True

The Getaway in DHS is a real gem. It’s four apartments constructed around a lovely walled courtyard. The location is in the foothills out of the way but really close to everything. We loved the decor. The comfy king bed was good for watching Netflix and sleeping. Eric, the host is great a genuinely concerned, available owner. We will definitely stay here on a future visit

The getaway was perfect for our festival weekend. While we had to drive a ways the traffic was always flowing and the property is easy to get to. Eric was very communicative and was prompt with sharing information and instructions. The space is cute with all the retro decor and the property was fun. The two downsides is there isn’t much around there so you have to drive a bit to get to things and the walls were a little thin and you could sometimes hear the people in the adjoining units. I would stay at The Getaway again.

Great property!

We enjoyed our time at the Getaway. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was also close to the things we planned to do like Joshua Tree and Palm Springs. We struggled a little with restaurants but that was not Eric’s fault! He communicated well and everything was as promised.

Comfortable and clean

The condo had a great location with wonderful views of the mountains. The apartment was clean, spacious and well equipped. Eric was very responsive and quick to answer any questions. Only feedback I have is that the walls must be a bit thin since you can periodically hear your neighbors in the adjoining units.

Getaway 4 is comfortable (comfy bed) and has a great feeling. The host has provided an environment with many touches and everything needed for a stay to the desert.The view is stunning.

Vintage heaven

My daughter and I spent 2 nights here for a quick getaway. Super cute place. Perfect for the 2 of us. The apartment is decorated beautifully. Everything is vintage and in great working condition. We were the only guests so we had the pool and spa to ourselves. The weather wasn't too warm so the pool was a bit cool. The location is super quiet. There is a supermarket and many restaurants within 2 miles. We will be back.

Overall the property was great. The private pool and hot tub with lots of shade. No need to be heated during the warmer months. It’s in a quiet part of town but the walls are very thin and you can hear every word of the neighbors next to you.

Peaceful Stay at The Getaway

Super cute place! Our room was decorated in vintage style and it was fun browsing through the books and vintage items in all the rooms - including dishes! It was very quiet (we stayed 2 weeknights) and the neighbors were courteous. We hike and adventure all day long, so we appreciated the quiet. The small 5-plex building sits atop a small hill and our room (#4) had a view over Desert Hot Springs and the pool/hot tub area. It's near the Mission Creek, Pioneertown and Whitewater Creek Preserve areas, which is why we chose this location. It was easy to shoot up to Hwy 62 to the preserves to go hiking. All the usual amenities made The Getaway comfortable. It is a bit off the beaten path and not really within walking distance of a lot of restaurants and shops, which was fine for us. Thanks to our host, Eric who made sure we had everything we needed!

I really liked they funkiness of suite, got to meet owner of this small 4 suite intimate setting and he explained he had been collecting older stuff from the 60’s and had used his collection to give it the vibe it has. The place is nice to come home too after a day of adventure and getting to meet the owner who happened to be on-site was a bonus. Great guy and very kind. If your looking for something quiet and yet close to everything it’s great. We came from Canada so had to consider exchange rates and we thought this place checked all the boxes. Thanks Eric, hope to come back

Cute Throwback

Super cute spot with a hot tub and pool! (fee for heating but my 10 year old still went in without the heater) We were the only ones here and it was very quiet and peaceful! We loved checking out all the vintage decor, knickknacks, and even kitchen appliances and dishes from "back in the day"! Eric is a very gracious and friendly host!

Comfortable unique boutique apartments

Everything was great about our stay except for the cold pool and hot tub. Heater needs to be replaced by ownership. It forced us to use nearby day passes at Tuscan Springs and Miradle Spring Resorts luckily nearby. You might want to have every unit share in the cost of heated pool and hot tub up front. Otherwise alternatives may be more appealing nearby that we experienced.

Very enjoyable stay at The Getaway

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at The Getaway (1 bedroom + sofa in living room). It's in a great location between Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park. My favorite moments: morning coffee / evening drinks out on the patio gazing at the gorgeous mountains. Also, try Las Delicias restaurant nearby for very tasty Mexican food.
