Misleading and disappointing
Our group came to Des Moines for a funeral. We immediately noticed this was not in a quiet location as specified, but on the corner of a very busy street. The exterior didn’t look well maintained and before entering, we noted the broken blinds and broken flooring and junk in the entrance. Once inside, the first thing we noticed was that it looked nothing like the pictures in the listing. The pictures showed a light, bright interior and this didn’t even have the same furnishings and was dark. Almost all the blinds were bent with whole sections broken out of them. There were not enough towels for us and no hand towels or washcloths. There were no additional blankets or throws and only enough hangers for us to have one each. The walls and cabinetry were shabby and needed repair and paint. Although the dishes in the dishwasher were dirty, the rest of the place was clean. I do want to note that when I communicated these things to the property manager, she made sincere efforts to fix what she could. She had someone drop off additional towels, washcloths and throw blankets. The hair dryer was missing; she asked me to purchase one and reimbursed me and she gave a 10% discount off our first night. However, the overall dinginess and disrepair were not things she could fix. We were planning to have a few relatives visit, but couldn’t do that with the condition of the place. While I can’t recommend this property, the manager got 5 stars because she tried to make things better.
