The guest suite is a basement apartment with it’s own separate entrance and no sharing of common areas except for the backyard and laundry area upstairs. That is in the listing so it shouldn’t be a complaint. And yes, if you are bringing other guest (s) you’re supposed to let us know and tell us if they are staying overnight or not because we do charge extra for over 2 guests. You’re the one who didn’t let us know so you shouldn’t be upset when we asked. We just asked.

This is a retaliative review because she didn’t get a refund as she wasn’t entitled to one. This guest did not notify us there were any problems and left without letting us know so we didn’t have the chance to rectify the situation. Later that day, VRBO called us telling us what had happened and we’ve made attempts to address the situation by having a second cleaner come clean right away. The place wasn’t as dirty as this guest is claiming but we did let our cleaner go after this incident just in case and now have someone else who is excellent. We didn’t detect any foul odor. We let her know the place was cleaned a second time and that she could come back but got no answer. At that point VRBO said we did what we could so the ball was in the guests court and that she wasn’t entitled to a refund according to their policy. Nobody has ever complained about the windows and curtains before. A person would have to go up to the window to be able to see anything inside which would mean trespassing. It would take a lot to see into a well’s window so in our opinion these claims aren’t valid.

My cleaner has earned 5 star reviews in different platforms and I know she’s very meticulous and does an amazing job at cleaning so I find your observation strange. The space is a basement so it’s normal there are spiders, there’s nothing I can do about that, we try to remove the webs as much as possible. It’s a sign of a healthy house but I do understand that may bother some people. As far as the door situation, there’s other regular two doors upstairs with locks separating the space. Never had any guests who experienced violation of their privacy or safety issues in seven years of hosting.

Hello Elizabeth, thanks for your feedback. As described in the listing and shown in the photos our space is vintage, quaint and offers a travel back in time experience to guests who appreciate it. The guest quarters are downstairs and we do not go downstairs while a guest is there unless there is a problem to be remedied. Our reviews are a testament to the fact that your personal belongings are safe. We have been in business for 7 years and never got a complaint in regards to that. The guests have a separate entrance in the back that locks. Thanks!
