Lovely, cozy, and very well maintained cabin with an extremely well-stocked kitchen, including a full spice rack (so helpful when cooking away from home). The weather was cold and rainy while we were there (there were plenty of games available for those rainy days) but the covered porch allowed us to still take in the beauty of the setting. Just getting to listen to the birds and the sound of the river was quite restorative. Sauna just steps outside the door was great for taking the chill off. Beds were super comfortable and there were plenty of linens. Though we always travel with our own dog towels, we appreciated that they had designated towels for outdoor/pet use.The river front area down from the cabin was beautiful and quite big, though didn’t spend much time there because of the weather. Would be a great place for kids and dogs to play.Some things for future guests to consider: the spiral staircase up to the larger bedroom is probably not kid (or pet) friendly. And the driveway down to the river front area of the property is quite steep. Neither were a problem for us, but might be for some guests.The cabin is tucked away, so many activities require a drive. Viroqua is a short and scenic drive away, but you could easily just settle in and be happy not going anywhere! We would definitely return to this cabin — it gave us a much needed respite from the world.
