The house is great. Well appointed - we were impressed in particular with all the kitchen supplies (dishware, cookware, etc.). There are a lot of stairs to traverse getting in/out of the house - but it has plenty of parking, and is maybe 10 min drive to the beach. The beach was really nice too - if you aren't familiar with Dauphin Island, it's got nice beaches. It doesn't have much to offer in terms of restaurants (or groceries) though. There were a few roaches in the house too - just a few, but they were big.
Check in was kind of weird, in that we had to arrive specifically between 3 & 4 pm to pick up the key from the ACP office. It was really nearby, but since we were driving from Texas it was a bit of a concern to make sure we hit that 1 hour window. Fortunately traffic/construction/weather cooperated and we arrived on schedule - it's definitely way less convenient that the typical code or key box situation at rental properties. The 10am checkout was pretty early too, as most are 11am or noon, but that wasn't a problem.
The last thing though, regarding ACP, was quite irritating. They submitted a very small charge to my card almost 2 weeks after the trip was completed (I paid in full prior to the rental, approximately 60x more than the extra charge that showed up). Then when I pointed out the error, they argued that a previous refund for over-payment was an outstanding balance... and charged the payment without contacting me first. When I reminded them that it was a line item showing refund and not an outstanding balance - and also threatened to dispute through Chase & file a formal complaint with the FTC - then they finally agreed. But not without a passive aggressive reply to imply I was petty for demanding the small correction. I already paid exponentially more for 2 nights - adding an extra tiny charge two weeks later without any correspondence is what's petty - and simply bad business practice in all reality.
So, despite the fact that we really liked the house I won't be back. I'll visit Dauphin Island again for sure, but I won't give my business to ACP.
