Honestly, was terrible we came for a couple of hours and when they found out we had a flight they tried to fear monger us into booking a cab with them multiple times even though we told them we don’t want to, very passive aggressive

Quartier brouillant rien à voir à Dar as Salam les gens très antipathiques pas de prix fixe pour le taxi j’ai été déçue le taxi pour un 18€ et l’autre 35€ soit j’ai annulé le reste de mon séjours

Hier een kamer geboekt voor een nacht vlucht. Het duurde 5 uur voordat we een baddoek en water kregen. Kamer zat vol met kakkerlakken (kwamen in de avond pas te voorschijn). Echt vriendelijke waren de mensen ook niet.

Aufenthalt war sehr angenehm, jedoch konnte meine Buchung nicht gefunden werden. Ich buchte im Hotel und habe bezahlt. Jetzt habe ich für eine Nacht doppelt Bezahlt.

The corner room that I had was very nice. The water did not always work. The electronic door key locked me out twice and only one person knew how to restore my entrance. Once, I had to wait until the staff member came to work.

Local food available

The room is spacious and well equipped. A great place to experience typical Tanzanian breakfast. The hotel doesn't have elevator but the hotel staff were kind and helped with luggage.

Management with a bad attitude

We arrived shortly after midnight due to the flight schedule. They gave me a lower class room than what I paid for. The next morning I asked to get an executive room, which I had paid for. The receptionist called the manager, who they called Madame. She had a bad attitude like she was doing me a favor giving me the room I had paid for. We moved to a room where the toilet had no seat and the refrigerator did not work. Neither did the safe. This was not acceptable, so we were shown other rooms but Madame was not sure whether things would actually work. In the end we got a decent executive room but like before the refrigerator did not work. Stuff spoiled. And a whole morning was wasted waiting for Madame. Also, in that room the safe did not work. So after a long wait they brought in one ... which did not open. Eventually the safe was opened but what is the point of having it if someone can just carry it away. Some days there was a hand towel and on others not. Same for floor mat in front of shower. One morning no warm water!! The breakfast was okay but sometimes none of the 15+ coffee cups and saucers had no tea spoons. The options in the restaurant are limited and are further limited by what they can actually do. - Grill did not work. The lighting on our corridor was out. They did not care. This could be a much better place If they only had MUCH better management. I hope the owner reads this review.

Nice People

The staff here is kind and helpful . The area is in a crowded Dar es Salaam neighborhood near Karikoo. Finding can be a challenge for local Uber drivers. I was prepared with Google maps directions downloaded.

If it wasn't for the manager, a top value hotel

If it wasn't for the m,anager, Zimbo would be our top value spot in Dar es Salaam. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and much higher standard than what one would expect in this price category in Africa (the light switch, which some travellers were unable to find, is quite cleverly hidden in the night stand). The breakfast was great, tasty and varied on different days. The sound proofing is African standard, though, and the hotel is located on a very busy street in the very busy Kariakoo neighbourhood, so earplugs and a sleeping mask are a must. Unfortunately, the manager seems bound to get white people pay made up surcharges on the top of the price paid through hotels.com. It was not possible to talk to the manager directly either to negotiate the issue. He was always away when we asked and apparently he doesn't speak English, so phoning him was not an option either. We got the impression he doesn't treat the personnel very well, either. We had to be really assertive to be allowed to check out without having to pay anything extra. Because of this this, we can't really recommend the hotel for European travelers.

Nice staff, good location, but the closet in the room did not open properly, the kettle and fridge didn't have a socket nearby and thus weren't plugged, the coffee and tea in the room weren't refilled for the 2nd night

Pros - nice & helpful staff, good food in the restaurant, very nice room for the price, comfy bed Cons - the wifi is awful....it basically disappears every 10-20min. Expect to barely have access to internet. The power/electricity in the room is operated with the key card. There are no light switches. So at night when you want the lights out you have to remove the key card from a power point in the wall. The problem is at night you will not have ac unless you sleep with the lights on. Its impossible to be in the room with no ac....Dar is extremely hot...so I slept with the lights on every night which is not ideal. Also, when my sheets were changed, the 'clean' sheets had nasty stains on them. The location is not the best or the safest....dont go out at night unless you have someone with you. Night club on the 5th floor open on Saturday night. Dont plan on sleeping with the bumping base....but if you like to dance its a good drop in
