The odd gnarled stone in the foreground is one of 4 ( now rather weathered) stone bears that once looked down from the four corners of nearby Dacre Castle. They can be found amongst the gravestones in the churchyard of St Andrews in this pretty village.

A piece of heaven
A beautiful 4 day stay in a gorgeous location. Very relaxing with stunning scenery. Easy to book and excellent clear arrival details. The boathouse is so unique with care paid to every detail to make our stay so enjoyable. We will recommend to friends and family.

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted by the loveliest staff! We were then kindly given an upgrade from a snug room to a superior double with lake views which absolutely made our stay! Such a king gesture. This is our 5th time visiting we try to make it at least twice a year!
