Honest Review

On the surface this house has a lot going for it but once you peel back a layer there are some issues. You get what you pay for...Let me start by saying the location in Scotland is great for access to many sightseeing locations but the house is on the main road and the bedrooms bordering the road do not allow anyone to sleep past 6am unless you are used to sleeping next to a busy road. I was taken off guard by the note from the host several days before arrival saying they are still updating the house but the listing says "recently updated". Some of the spaces have been updated but the majority of the house has not and there are some issues still to be addressed. The house also sleeps a lot of people and this is a nice option for a big family. Strangely the living space with couches are upstairs and very awkward to hang out in when the kitchen and dining room are downstairs, personal observation and to each their own. There are a lot of steps in the house and if you have mobility issues I would not recommend this location as it felt like each room was a step up or down into the space (typical older house that's been extended over the years I'm sure). The kitchen is well stocked and many people have left food and condiments in the past. The bedding is nice and the towels are big and comfy. Parking is easy but bigger vehicles may have to maneuver a bit...nothing crazy. All around this is a decent place that sleeps a lot of people with easy access to the sights of Fife.

Wonderful Stay in a Great Location!

We had a fantastic stay at this accommodation! The place was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The location was perfect, close to everything I needed. The host was incredibly responsive, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Thank you for being such a great host!

Pleasant stay

Many thanks for the hospitalities at the above address, we all immensely enjoyed staying at and would love to rebook. Renata (property manager I believe) has been outstanding in communication and responsiveness. Property was clean from all corners and provided enough space for our toddlers to teenagers to play and keep themselves busy with lots of in-house activities. Thanks

Family holiday

Cameron House was a large comfortable house in a good location for visiting the area. There was a lovely welcome gift in the house which was a nice touch The lady was very helpful when we locked ourselves out of the house and arrived quickly to help

Great location, BIG house, lovely village

Our family of nine had lots of room to spread out in this wonderful home! Lots of Scottish history and charm! It had everything you would need. Renata could not of been nicer or more responsive. Great location to stay for a family wedding in St Andrews! The Scottish Deer Center just a few minutes away was spectacular! We would love to rent this home again. Lovely!

Perfect Stay in Fife

This property was absolutely perfect for our group of 10. Everyone had plenty of space. The house had good updates for the age of the building. We were working in Glenrothes and were pleased with the ease of commute (15 min). Would definitely rent again in the future.

A lovely stay

The house is spacious and elegant in a lived-in way which we appreciated, coming with three dogs. Everything is provided and the beds are so comfortable! Our youngest (4) loved the London bus bed! Very central for exploring and Auchtermuchty is a pretty village with a great coffee shop, Co-op and playgrounds! I wish there had been a visitors' book... The host was very helpful and we would love to return some day.

Surprise Birthday celebration

Jing was first class with all communication, even locking ourselves out when we first arrived, she came to our rescue! House was perfect for us all to celebrate the surprise birthday get away.. Plenty room for everyone to relax... Bathrooms are lovely and clean. We went to The Boars Head on the Saturday for dinner and it was amazing aswell. We would definitely go back, great walks for the dogs too!

Great new year stay

Overall had a great stay at Cameron House. Jing's property is lovely and very accommodating for a group of families, we were a group of 13 that included 3 children ages 11, 7 & 3........the two youngest loved the kids room/playroom......the property overall was clean, well laid out and has everything you would need. Its in a lovely town which has amenities close by. We will definitely be back

Big House!

We had a lovely stay overall. Very happy with all communication and arrangements, and the host was very accommodating to our needs - no complaints on that front! We were aware that the property was currently in need of some renovations, but what specifically was left quite vague... I feel some people might rather wait to enjoy this property a bit further along in the renovation process as although it's a great big house with lots of rooms (excellent for games of hide and seek!), we did experience a few issues along the way... We stayed over Christmas and we found the house very cold! The radiators were never very warm, despite fiddling with the thermostat, and we felt that providing firewood would have made things more comfortable (there are 2 operational fireplaces!). We had brought a small amount with us but ended up running out fast, and at a time when no shops were open for the majority of our stay. Hot water for baths and showers was a bit problematic too, but we did have 14 people in the house. We also found the internet to be very poor and struggled to use the TV in the sitting room which was a bit of a shame - I think just because it's such a big house! There was some welcome information provided, but I think it could have been a bit more in-depth with things like oven instructions etc. The kitchen was well kitted out with more than just the basic utensils, and there were plenty of plates and cups and serving dishes which was super handy. It's a great property and has so much potential. If you're happy with a big old country house for a large family gathering then this could well be the place - but bring some onesies and slippers!

Family holiday

We rented the property for a family holiday. The house is very spacious and the kids loved running round as well as games of hide and seek for which it is ideal. A new bathroom(number 3) has been installed which was a pleasant surprise. The owner was easy to contact and quick to resolve any issues we had. Whilst the house is not in perfect condition, the owner is in the process of updating and judging by the work already done, it will be much improved over the next year. We all enjoyed our stay.
