We had a lovely stay overall and really enjoyed our time here. The location is fantastic, right next to the beach and within close to shops and cafés. It was perfect for us and our dog, who absolutely loved being so close to the ocean.The space itself is very bright and full of natural light, which makes it feel welcoming and airy. During our stay, however, the warm weather (30 degrees) made the house quite hot during the day, especially travelling with a newborn, so we found it difficult to spend long periods inside when temperatures were high.The property is a little dated in places and a few small touches, like wine glasses, would make the stay even more comfortable. The beds were also quite soft, almost water-bed-like, which may come down to personal preference.That said, we still had a really nice trip and appreciated the great location and relaxed beachside atmosphere. Thank you for having us!

Was over all a great place to stay, we really enjoyed the relaxing nature of the house and neighbourhood. As a hot person i think some aircon in the living room would make it 100% some small things like washing tablets. Bin liners ect were available so we needed to purchase them.
This beach is your backyard! You can hear the waves crashing. Very relaxing

This is a disappointing beach shack in dire need of maintenance and investment to update inadequate and outdated amenities. The house was in some disrepair and poorly maintained. Back gate broken (our dog escaped a number of times), holes in deck, bbq filthy, fans dirty, basic utensils like crockery and cutlery were of poor standard, fridge shelving missing, etc. property manager fixed broken gate after we complained but we shouldn’t have had to draw it to their attention if there had been proper maintenance. Property has good access to culburra beach but it’s a very basic beach shack and not the premium quality at which it is pitched and priced.

Great location, need to ensure basics like dishwasher soap and garbage bags are available, also would recommend a vacuum cleaner be available as it is hard to clean up dog hair on wood floors.I would highly recommend that the air conditioners get a thorough cleaning before the weather gets hot. They are in dire need of cleaning.

The house has so much potential, however it is very dated and not very clean. Some maintenance is needed. Bedding in main bedroom has a hole in it. Generally the place needs a good deep clean.

A lovely, private house with great light/windows. Well equipped.Beautiful backyard with short walk to the coast (area has significant dune height between the track & the beach, though a short walk nearby takes you to the beach).

Culburra in a bomb cyclone

We stayed for a week and enjoyed the property with our family and four legged friends. We stayed during the cyclone rain bomb and so spent a lot of time indoors and with the wood fired stove keeping us warm and making smores. The beach was amazing and the builders next door were friendly and caused us no problems during the stay.The house was well equipped and we coped with some small leaks during the torrential rain and had all the mops we needed - presumably rain that bad is a one in hundred event.All in all for a wet week it was great and we will book again.

location location!

A fantastic house with plenty of room , and a very short walk to the beach!! Also in easy walking distance of coffee shops, supermarket, bottle shop, restaurants and a great little cocktail bar.

Summer Last Minute Get Away

Perfect beach location, direct access to dog friendly beach in which our Labrador loved. The house in general is great, nice light and private-comfortable living areas,beds and clean linen. Attention to detail lacking in aspects of home, kitchen wares and crockery definately in need of upgrade..TVs in need of repair,Netflix not working.Spa and surrounds lovely although BBQ gas bottle empty on arrival which was frustrating .All in all we had a lovely stay and loved Culburra ,room for improvements though

Lovely Culburra Pet-friendly Property

Overall a great propery with the added bonus of outdoor spa. House very comportable and spacious. Would suggest fencing needs to be checked as small dog got out several times after finding a few spots that had loose or broken wire fencing.

A beautiful beach stay for your furry friends

Our stay at Malda's Retreat was great. I loved that the backyard was gorgeous and also totally fenced and safe for my dog. The nearby dog beach was wonderful. The house was beautiful and comfortable and the hot tub was to die for!

A wonderful family getaway

We loved Maldas Retreat. It was the first time we took our fur babies away. They were excellent and loved it too, I can tell. We enjoyed the open rooms and windows. Spa bath was great. Hot tub was great. Room for all of us to chill and do our own thing. We played card games at the big dining table. Perfect. Great kitchen and comfy beds. Thankyou

Big fail on so many details

When we arrived, the kitchen was full of cockroaches but there was no insect spray. The guide says we can go and buy our own and be reimbursed. That might work if you're staying at a YMCA, but not at a property charging what Malda's is. There's a complete lack of attention to detail. The back door lock is broken so you can't lock the house when you go to the beach. In each bedroom, one of the lamps was broken. The remote to the TV was held together by silver electrical tape. The windows were dirty, the spa bath hadn't been cleaned out. In the bathroom, the soap, shampoo and conditioner were all empty. Culburra Beach is a great place for a holiday, Malda's is not. If you're holidaying in Culburra, I'd look elsewhere - there are plenty of better quality, better priced properties that do look after their guests and do have the requisite attention to detail
