This is a clean and charming log cabin. We spent days hiking at Grayson Highlands State Park and evenings in the hot tub under the stars. The property has one close neighbor - a cabin very similar to this one (beautiful), the other direction there is good space and brush before the next dwelling, the road side of the cabin is a hill covered in forrest, and only one house is clearly visible across the river - so this feels far more private than commercial. The day it rained we watched movies - the wifi is as good as we have at home - and we went shopping in West-Jefferson - they are catering to vacationers in all the best ways. We also had a great time at Burnt Hill Stables horseback riding. Had it been a different time of year we would have been in the river. When we stayed, there was a few feet drop to the river, which helped keep our dog out (he was always on leash but LOVES water and would have tried endlessly to wade). I read in another review that the beds were difficult - our beds were great - only the futon was a little like camping but we didn't mind. We were left enough paper goods, soap, coffee filters, trash bags, salt to get going after a very long drive - which was splendid! The grill was fun - the perfect size for a whole family dinner. I wish there had been a vegetable steamer in the kitchen, and the mini-blinds were not of the quality of everything else - but seriously - that's the worst that can be said. The cleaning staff does a terrific job, the place is well-maintained - which never happens by accident, it is a cozy and fun space for gathering with family or close friends but gives options for having time to yourself as well, and that hot tub by the river & pine trees & under the moon and stars -or by sunset? Yes! We were absolutely delighted and impressed. Thank you for the great get-away!
