Best Property Rental!!!

My husband and I stayed here for my 30th birthday and thoroughly enjoyed everything The Weathervane had to offer!!!! So much so, we added an extra night to our stay upon our arrival. The pool was amazing! The location was perfect! The house was clean and well maintained! We had many horse encounters on the property at all hours of the day. I still can’t believe this was available for us to book a last minute trip but we are so thankful and don’t think there could’ve been a better house for our 5 night getaway! We will definitely be back!!

Excellent home, very clean and well equipped

This was our second stay in 4x4. This home had more tour traffic. Also, more ATV/UTV and someone had an old dune buggy that was loud. House located further up the beach than our previous stay, but meant less “crowded” beach. For those of you not use to a well there is an odor to the water and not a lot of pressure. Overall home was very nice and well stocked for stay. Side screened in porch was great with fans and breeze. We did see a group of 3 horses most nights and our final night they grazed in the side and backyard.

Great Location

This was our first time to stay on the 4x4 beach. The house is in a great location and was just perfect for what we needed. The house was clean and orderly. The A/C quit working on the second floor while we were there. We contacted the property manager and she scheduled the repair very quickly. Thank you for a great week!

Magical place!

Our second stay in the Weathervane wonderful. The management was always quick to respond and go above and beyond for their guests. The house is well stocked and very comfortable. Our favorite spot was the screen porch where we played games and ate every meal while looking at the ocean and the horses in our yard. We absolutely love this house and the entire area. The horses and the beach make this a magical place. We will be back!

Nice time away

Overall the property and manager were great: clean, spacious, and great views of the ocean. We arrived during the colonial pipeline hack which complicates our trip, but we hope to visit again soon.

Great House! Great Vacation

Booking and check in process super simple and easy. House was clean and beautiful. No issues. We spent a lot of time on the beach, loved driving to the beach. Everything was so quiet and peaceful. Horses were in the backyard a few times which was super exciting. Would definitely stay again!

Fantastic Beach Getaway

We wanted a vacation to unplug and spend time relaxing, reading, strolling along the beach enjoying the sound of the surf and wind, and seeing the wild horses and other wildlife. North Swan Beach and Weathervane met all those criteria and then some. Great stay in a fantastic location and rental home. The home was very clean and well equipped for a vacation stay. Views from the open and screened in deck were wonderful. Weathervane will be our choice if we travel to the OBX in the future.

Wonderful 4x4 retreat

We had to cancel our early summer beach trip due to Covid. We were pleasantly surprised when the Weathervane popped up for an August vacation. This was our third visit to Carova and the Weathervane met all of our expectations. It was very close to the beach and the property was well maintained. The property manager was excellent and very quick with responses and requests. We highly recommend the Weathervane and look forward to future visits.

Wonderful retreat in OBX

This rental has it all for a small family or two couples. Beds are super comfy, bathrooms are gorgeous, the layout concept and design is top notch and really well thought out. It is one of the best uses of spaces I have rented over the years, and the furnishings and materials are beautiful and sleek while at the same time being durable. It did not feel like a rental at all, more like a friends vacation home. I cannot even possilbly say enough good things about Laura James the property manager. She went above and beyond for us, particularly in keeping us off the ledge for fear of the hurricane. She was in constant contact, answered our questions, gave great advice and gave us complete comfort with her experience and knowledge. She even loaned us an ingredient we were missing for a dish. Having her not far from the house was an enormous peace of mind. That said, this home has everything including a fantastic manager! There are sturdy wooden beach chairs available, there was an umbrella and small stash of other beach needs. The washer dryer was great for all the laundry, ample hot water and pressure, and the kitchen is thoroughly stocked. But these coolest part is the peace, the quiet, the beautiful views, and the wildlife - there was a resident fox we saw often in the mornings and the horses oh the horses! Sooooo many all the time. Early morning and at dusk, in the front yard, in the back yard, in the street, all different kinds and even a baby!! This was truly a magical stay, so glad we survived it! Thank you to the owner for such a beautiful well thought out home and thanks again to Laura James!

perfect covid beach stay

This home was very clean and nicely decorated. The Carova Cottage team that manage the house were very responsive to my requests. I would highly recommend this house to anyone who has a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We were able to drive on the beach daily and keep plenty of social distancing from our neighbors.

Checked ALL the boxes!

We spent a long weekend at the Weathervane for our 32nd wedding anniversary. It was a great getaway! Loved traveling across the 4x4 only beach access, seeking out, and finding, herds of wild horses, and taking lots of photographs of pelicans, sunrises, and sunsets! Home was perfectly situated 1 block off the beach with great indoor/outdoor space.

Great 3 bedroom home

The house is great for a small family wanting a beach house. The views are amazing and the telescope really does give that little “extra” touch. The screened in porch was perfect for morning coffee. The property manager, Carova Cottages couldn’t have been any better to work with. I seriously couldn’t say enough good things about them. I only had one complaint about the entire situation and that is the outside cameras the owner has up all around the home. When I first saw the one at the top of the stairs I was OK with it. I’m sure with having a second home/investment property it’s nice to have it to make sure your property is OK. But, when you find out the owners are watching and he is upset because you brought your gas grill to cook on outside, it’s a tad upsetting to know you don’t have privacy. I looked back through emails and never saw anything about a gas grill not being allowed either. I will definitely use Carova Cottages again but not this particular home.

Relaxing

Weathervane is an excellent house. It is well represented by the pictures and description. We’ve rented a lot of houses in the Outer Banks in the past 20 years, and most of them are a little “weathered”. Weathervane was not. Everything worked, doors slid easily in their tracks, knives were sharp, it was spotlessly clean, and the furniture was very nice. Even the water was good (expected some sulfur smell/taste), but it was good. Overall I was pleasantly surprised. Laura was amazing. She answered all of our questions quickly and even offered to bring a DVD player when we realized there wasn’t one at the house. (We missed that detail in the description.) The wild horses even came through the yard. Overall, we couldn’t have been happier with our stay.
