Advance communication with our hosts was clear and helpful. We were able to walk from Como’s North Station to this apartment without difficulty, each of us with a roll-aboard and backpack. It wasn’t really five minutes (as the advance info stated), but it was certainly no more than 10. Turn right out the front of the station and continue until you get to the treed little park which you see welll in advance of reaching it. Then left for one longish block and right for another. The building is across the street from a hospital and we did hear ambulances from time to time but it was never bothersome at all. Entrance to the building and apartment was easy, the apartment is up one flight of stairs.
This is not a drop dead gorgeous place, but there is a lot of space, it is adequately furnished, clean, well ventilated and we especially appreciated all the closet and drawer space for putting away our things. For the price we were pleased with everything about it. WiFi served us well throughout our stay.
It is very near old town Como and the Duomo, an amazing church that is the center of town. This Old Town area offers endless restaurants, cafes and bars along with bakeries, gelato shops and pretty much any other kind of shopping one might want. The boat pier for going to other towns on the lake or just taking a trip on the water is 10-12 minutes walk from the apartment. We walked everywhere we wanted to go and nothing took more than 15 minutes. There are two small convenience stores, a butcher and a nice corner cafe within a block of the apartment.
We departed from the San Giovanni train station and walked over to the North Station to get a taxi . We paid 7 Euros for that taxi trip.
Though we never met our hosts, we always felt that they were there for us if we might need them. Fortunately, we never did need any special attention.
We recommend this apartment for people who don’t need luxury but will be content with quiet, clean, well located space at an excellent price for a town that attracts a lot of tourists.
