Amazing place next to the Broadmoor AND hiking trails
Nicely located, quiet, and private. Go right across the street and you have tons of hiking trails, including the deer and other wildlife to enjoy your walk with. It’s a ten to fifteen minute walk to the Broadmoor so perfect for the conference I attended The owners were responsive and friendly, all while allowing us to maintain our privacy. Cozy and cute inside with everything you need. I loved the big goblet wine glasses! The owners provided lots of good tidbits of where to go and what places were good to eat at with accurate descriptions of ambience. Will definitely stay there again.

Clean and Cozy
Very easy check in and out. Property was clean and well maintained. House was very clean, and comfortable. Very nice, and the owners were easy to contact. Recommended if you are traveling by yourself or with a partner.

Great stay.
First time visiting Colorado for me. Second time for my fiancé. This place was very neat, clean and had everything you needed to stay comfortable. I will say, the heating was a little concerning. The home only had floor and one baseboard heater. Other than that, great stay!

Magical trip
This property is extremely beautiful. A perfect size for 2 people. There are two attached cottages and this is the one in the back of the property. It's super clean, modern, and comfortable. Everything you could want is there and the space is used incredibly well. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I was in the area!

Perfect property - steps from the mountains
My little home had a porch which allowed me to see the mule deer next door many, many times during my three week stay. It is an extension of the house and I used it much of the time. My hosts respected my privacy but were very accessible if I needed assistance. The mountain trails were directly across the street and I used them daily and sometimes twice. This vacation rental was everything I had hoped for during my stay in Colorado Springs and would not hesitate in the least to stay again . The accommodations were appealing and generous with many extras. Clearly the hosts prioritize their clients vacation needs.

Loved it
Quiet, clean and comfortable. These hosts thought of everything you might need, and it was just the right size for us. Enjoyed the deer and racoon visitors nightly. Would love to return. There is another unit on the property if you need more accommodations. (Great for two couples who would want a bit more privacy.)

Great launch pad for Colorado Springs Adventures!
My husband and I stayed here for a week for our 10 year anniversary. Karen reached out to us to let us know we could check in early and provide some details for check in. It’s a cute place and really close to a lot of hiking trails and dining. Except for 1 excursion, we never drove more than about 20-25 minutes to an activity and most drives were 10-15. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful mountain cottage
The cottage is beautiful and very well equipped. The peaceful location is great for walking in the nearby park with many nearby conveniences. The owners were very pleasant and thoughtful. This was one of our best vrbo experiences.

Let down
The pics looked great, and the reviews were great however bed and couch uncomfortable and difficult controlling temperature. No ac and first day it was unexpectedly hot. On cold days had to use bedspread to coverup while watching tv in living room to stay warm. Fireplace produced no heat and radiant heat was not enough to keep you warm.

Dear Michael, We are so very sorry and unaware of these issues. As you may recall reading in our list of amenities, Hawthorne Cottage has A|C units available during the warmer months and we have never had a request during the end of March, early April. In regards to the heat, there are multiple sources of making that cottage warmer so again, we are very are sorry that we never knew you were uncomfortable. Similarly, we have never had a complaint about the comfort of the couch or the bed and would gladly welcome specific intel so we may make such needed adjustments, as we strive to make each and every guest very comfortable. Loved it
My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend and it was wonderful. As the listing mentions, it's literally right across the street from Stratton Open Space, which was great, and is also walking distance to North Cheyenne Canon SP and just a short drive into town. The property was clean, quiet, well furnished, and generally perfect for couples. Next time we go to CS, we'll definitely see if the property is available and not think twice about booking.

My husband and I stayed at this property for 5 days and four nights….and the experience was Amazing!
We had no problems finding the location no problem with getting to all our daily activities that we had all planned out. This property is very clean warming and is layer out with love and care. My husband don’t even want to leave today he wants to stay a few more days I told him we will differently return next year to the same property and do more activities. The owner Karen was very nice and greet you with a smile you will never know they live close to your stay so quit and very inviting. It’s very peaceful and quit we will return and we enjoyed our stay thanks until we meet again.

Perfect Weekend Getaway
My husband & I found this lovely property to stay at while visiting CO for a wedding at The Broadmoor. The quick walk and accessibility to The Broadmoor was great! The cottage was absolutely adorable and well equipped…and the heated floors were a nice added touch on our toes. Karen was VERY quick to respond and work with; exceeded our expectations! Highly recommend this property!

Cozy cottage in a great location
This is a very cute cottage in a great location in Colorado Springs. It is close to everything, including hiking trails, restaurants, and shops. Downtown Colorado Springs is about a 10-min drive, Broadmoor is within walking distance. The house is very comfortable and offers everything you may need for a weekend getaway. It has a fully stocked kitchen, cozy fireplace, and a comfortable bed. One thing I did not realize while booking it, there are two units in the cottage, and you will have neighbors to share parking with. However, the sound isolation is pretty good so we could not hear our neighbors the whole weekend. I wonder if hot water may be shared though, since the pressure and water temperature varied between different times of the day. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for a romantic getaway. We had a great time exploring the surrounding area and checking out local restaurants. Great experience!

Peaceful Retreat
We really enjoyed our time at Hawthorne Cottage! Karen and David have taken great care to think of all the details to make the stay restful and comfortable. We were so pleased to have the space exceed our expectations. From the beautiful design elements to the ambient lighting including the romantic fireplace, it was easy to settle in. The quiet neighborhood location is perfect for getting to all local attractions, with a fantastic open space to hike right across the street! The kitchen is thoroughly stocked with everything we could think of, even zip lock bags and matches. Throughout the whole unit, it is obvious the hosts have spared no expense in style and quality. We needed a little extra warmth when the January temperatures dipped into the low 20's outside, so David was quick to respond to our request and provided a small room heater which warmed up the cottage in no time. This was by far one of our favorite vacation rentals! Thank you Karen and David for hosting us with excellence!

Quiet, Cozy, and Clean
My boyfriend and I stayed here from Thursday to Monday and it was absolutely perfect. It was nice and quiet so we could relax (we’re from a major city with no peace and quiet), extremely cozy with the fireplace and heated floors, and very clean which is the number one thing a place HAS to be for us. We even ran into David on our way in after lunch one day and got to talk to him for a bit. He’s so nice! Colorado Springs is beautiful so if we ever come back to visit, we’re definitely staying here! The best part was getting to see all of the deers hanging out outside the kitchen window. So peaceful!

Peaceful relaxation
The cottage was very clean and welcoming. It had everything we needed. It was remote enough to be quiet, but close to trails, restaurants and shops. The bed is very comfortable and the living room very cozy with the kiva stove and the front patio area. We had deer and other small wildlife visit outside, just feet away from the cottage! It was perfect for a quiet, nature-seeking getaway.

We stayed here because it was very close to a conference we were attending at the Broadmoor. Originally we were planning to walk to the Broadmoor, but the 15 min walk turned out to be 15 min for a very fit younger person so we opted to drive the 4-5 min each way. Also would be very dark walking home at night. Tip -- there is free parking at the rear (west gate) of the property and just a short walk in. The cottage was perfect with everything you would expect to find at home. Karen was away, but David was a very gracious host and available to help with all sorts of local knowledge.
