You will not be disappointed

Although this property is a little far from “touristy”attractions, it is exactly what one hopes for on vacation. The house and property has all the amenities you could hope for; hot tub, community pool, beach and more. We loved spending time together in the backyard and watching the fish jump as the sun set. Our family enjoyed our stay immensely and my son is already asking when we can come back.

Beautiful and peaceful

Amazing cottage on the water! Listing exactly as presented but pictures cannot capture the amazing view. Cottage perfect size for our family of 3, every detail decorated for the beach feel from decor and colors down to the backsplash and shower tiles. We were there during a heat wave, perfect time to float/kayak/fish in the river, swim in the community pool and enjoy the breeze on the back patios. We even enjoyed the hot tub at night in the heat. Amazing sunrises and sunsets. Even got up early to watch a rocket launch. Neighbors were a little weary of us at first - multiple people noted that we must be staying at the short term rental, only one in the neighborhood but the different residents warmed up and were friendly. Next door neighbors were very kind and welcoming and provided fishing pointers. Town of Mathews super cute, good restaurants, shops and farmers market. Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing! Highly recommend.

Many Happy Returns

I think this was our 5th or 6th Valentine's Day week stay. It was wonderful, as always. Cozy little house, comfy bed, fabulous bathroom, fantastic hot tub. A good place to settle in and take a break. The views are amazing. We had kind of crappy weather, but it's a nice place to snuggle in warmly when it's cold and rainy/snowy out. The fireplaces available at the push of a button make things homey and romantic.

AMAZING Location!!

My husband and I booked this property for a cozy winter weekend away. This is one of those properties that ends up being BETTER in person than the listing indicated. We didn't even leave the house the entire weekend. The kitchen was so well stocked that we just cooked our meals. The hot tub was so clean, relaxing and had he BEST view of the river. We were lucky enough for it to snow while were were there. It was a gorgeous scene! I really can't say enough good things about this property - they really thought of everything to make our stay incredible!

Fun Getaway!

I knew when I found this listing that I may have uncovered a hidden gem and I was right! We stayed just for a long weekend but everything was cozy and the local towns were so friendly. We definitely enjoyed White Dog Bistro, Southwind Pizza and Richardsons. Even though we ate out most of our time, the house had most of the essentials if you chose to cook there. The hot tub and fire pit were favorites, we stopped at Food Lion just to get Marshmallows to roast. My husband caught lots of fish while kayaking and at night from the fire pit area and community dock. Definitely keeping this spot on our list for next year's getaway, maybe we'll even bring the kids with us.

Serene stay

The cottage was great for the two of us. Very quiet and relaxing. You can't really relax on the beach though because when the tide comes in it disappears. We went to Haven Beach to relax and swim - just a short drive away. But you can sit by the fire pit and enjoy the serene scene with jumping fish and herons. The cottage was well equipped with almost everything we needed for our stay. The tennis court was unusable - the picture does not reflect its current condition. The pool looks nice but we never actually tried it because we couldn't figure out how to unlock the gate - there is a key but we couldn't find the lock! Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

A week on the water

We had a great time staying here. We used the pool, hot tub and kayaks. The view is beautiful and the neighbors are very friendly. There is not much to do close by but there is so much to do at the house we didnt get bored.

Couples retreat

Long weekend to reconnect with my husband. This was perfect. We actually preferred to hang out at the cottage as opposed to going out. This cottage has some great personal touches. Heated bathroom floor and towel rack. Heated blanket. Beautiful electric fireplace in the bedroom. Fantastic private hot tub, sheltered from the elements, wood supplied for the fire pit, electric wine opener. A shed full of things to do - bikes, kayaks, fishing rods, outdoor games. Inside there is a variety of games, puzzles & books. The scenery was stunning! A very responsive & accommodating host.
