I booked a one-night stay on Feb 3 for Feb 24, expecting check in details beforehand but never received them. After driving 2.5 hours to Cleveland without an address, I had to contact the host. The check in link required an additional 25 pet fee, despite a 25 charge already appearing on my VRBO invoice with no explanation. Lacking transparency, I was forced to pay again to access the property address. The host also requested a drivers license photo at the last minute. Due to maintenance issues, the host reassigned me to a different unit, presenting it as an “upgrade.” The delays caused me to arrive late and nearly miss my dinner reservation after spending over an hour messaging while driving. During dinner, the host repeatedly requested pet details and vaccination records, requirements never communicated in advance. Follow-up texts and a voicemail further from the host disrupted my short visit. The host then sent house rules stating that there were to be no parties or gatherings. It said “we live right next door and we have noise sensors. There are also cameras in the hallways”. It made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Overall, the poor communication, lack of transparency, and repeated interruptions created a highly frustrating experience in the few hours I was even in town. I am very disappointed and request a full refund.
