The City of Clanton added a 2.00 lodging fee per night stay effective Jan 1, 2024 and taxes increased. Sadly, all prices do increase at some point. We are also remodeling and looks as you stayed in a newly remodeled room as well. We hope you enjoyed your stay. Yes sir, you are correct about the breakfast. The local owners have decided to retire after 30+ years and the Shoney's sold in November 2023. The new owners of Shoney's were kind enough to allow us to have a 25% discount and we greatly appreciate that offer. I hope this explains your concerns. It does look as if your room is located on the pool side of the building and from time to time the moisture does cause the rooms to have a different smell depending on the humidity. I will have maintenance look into the noise of the AC. These units are installed brand new when the room is remodeled, so it has only been installed about a year. Most of the PTAC units do have a noise while they are running, but we will make sure it isn't a mechanical issue. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Your reservation was booked for 5 days on a busy weekend with no room to move you for the length of time you were here. We generally are booked solid on the weekends and just happens the weekend days were during the majority of your stay. I did look back and there were no complaints from the guest before you nor the guests who checked in following your stay. Some people may have a more sensitive sense of smell when it comes to mildew. Housekeeping did make notes that they did not pick up the mildew smell after the time you checked out and do not recall it before. It may also have something to do with being close to the pool. I hate we were unable to move your room during your stay and if we had the availability we would have moved you immediately. If you are back through the area please request to be away from the pool side of the building and that may help.
