Tolle Unterkunft

Das Ferienhaus war toll ausgestattet. Die Vermieter super bemüht und statteten uns schon mit Allem aus was wichtig für das Überleben war (voller Kühlschrank!). Auch sonst war alles da vom Gewürz bis zum Kaffeeautomaten. Es gab eine Klimaanlage im Wohnzimmer und die Küche war sehr gemütlich und mit Allem ausgestattet. Es gab einen großen Garten mit Möbeln für alle Gelegenheiten. Einen Parkplatz gibt es direkt vor dem Haus!Ein modernes Schwimmbad ist 5 Min. zu Fuß erreichbar, so auch 2 Bäcker. Das Stäbchen ist entzückend und eine gute Basis um von Portiers bis La Rochelle alles zu erreichen. Danke Frances und Mike nochmals für den tollen Aufenthalt.

Comfortable, welcoming and relaxing stay

Beautiful, well equipped property in a lovely area for exploring the region. The owners had thought of everything for our needs and comfort and the garden was just so relaxing. We had a wonderful stay and hope very much to return.

Fantastic Stay

Mike & Francis are amazing hosts, can't do enough to make sure you have a wonderful stay, the location is ideal for shops, restaurants and bars. The house is cozy and clean, a real home from home, cannot recommend enough this property, you will not be disappointed with your stay.

lovely cotage

very pretty little cottage hidden away just a few minutes walk from the centre of Civray. Fabulous welcome pack. The cottage was very welcoming with the lights on, table set and a lovely ambience. Great location for travelling to lots of beautiful villages. We visited Sarlat, Domme, Beynac and Rocamdour in the Dordogne and St Emillion, Ile De Re and the Puy Du Fou all highly recommended. We would highly recommend this property.

Stylish, well equipped and in a good location

We stayed here for 7 days in September. Mike called us when we were en route to explain how to find the keys etc, and he popped by later to say hi. The gite has everything we needed. The water pressure in the shower is good & strong, the appliances are up-to-date and complement the traditional feel of the house. The Welcome Pack of wine, bread & butter was enough on it’s own, but they added some pâté, milk, orange juice and cheeses - and a chocolate on our pillows as a nice surprise! Nice & quiet, and a short walk to the town centre. Be careful if you have anything larger than a mid-size vehicle as the driveway is a tight fit, so parking at the foot of the hill might be the better option. We’re more than happy to recommend La Maison Muguet. And don’t miss a walk to Le Lich’ Bar in the evenings. It’s great fun & very friendly!

Gîte remarquable et accueil parfait

Une petite maison aménagée avec élégance et parfaitement équipée. Les propriétaires font preuve d'une belle attention pour leurs hôtes : pack de bienvenue savoureux, changement du linge de maison à mi-séjour. La maison, en outre, parfaitement située dans le charmant bourg de Civray, proche des commerces, de la rivière, du cinéma, de la piscine. Un hâvre de paix et de repos.

Home from Home

The hosts have done a great job in making this cottage really comfortable and have thought of everything-even down to the nespresso coffee machine, which I thought I was going to miss. We went for lunch at Hotel du Commerce on Sunday and I suffered food poisoning all day Monday and some of Tuesday so we came home without viewing any sights.

November break.

Very comfortable gite. Was lovely to have the log burner lit after a day exploring the local area. We really appreciated the “yummy goodies” provided by Frances and Mike upon our arrival. A lovely relaxing week, with Civray being a great base for exploring the local towns and villages.

Comfortable Cottage

Very clean, most comfortable and pleasant accommodation in a central location! The owners welcome gifts were a delightful touch! The cottage was superbly equipped with everything you could possibly need during a stay there. Lovely to have a log fire one rather cool evening too! Off road parking but quite a tight spot! We enjoyed our stay….many thanks.

Civray cottage

Het huisje is precies zoals omschreven op de site. Een leuk welkomstpakket bij aankomst. We hebben Mike kort gezien als hij proper linnen kwam brengen maar de communicatie liep zeer goed. We hadden verwacht dat Civray zelf iets levendiger zou zijn, dat was een beetje een teleurstelling.

We like the coziness and warmness that property offered to us every morning and every evening when we came back. We like the enclosed garden where we spent time reading books and making notes after trips to nearby cities. We cannot say what we don't like because we like everything Francis and Mike prepared thoughtfully for us, starting with a bottle of wine and selection of cheese to small chocolates on the bed. I don't know what one cannot find in this house: there are everything one gets to enjoy the vacation.

PETITE MAISON IDÉALE POUR SE REPOSER AU CALME

Une très agréable petite maison avec un très beau jardin pour se reposer au calme d'une petite ville et d'une très belle campagne environnante. Maison très bien équipée. Accueil des plus sympathiques. On a vraiment envie de revenir. Un grand merci à nos hôtes.

Lovely house in a good location. Very well equipped.

Just spent a lovely week in Civray exploring the area. The house was an ideal base to do this and very comfortable and well equipped, including a welcome pack. There was even central heating, which unfortunately we needed as it was cold and wet for early June. The house was cosy though, with a lovely garden. It was also nice not to be limited to Saturday changeover so we could take advantage of cheaper flights. Would recommend.

Perfect retreat in a small town

The whole experience from start to finish has been a pleasure at this beautiful gite. It’s central location made it the perfect spot to return to each night after exploring the many attractions that the area has to offer. The gite is tastefully decorated and has all the amenities that you could possible need (and many more) from the gorgeous garden to sip a glass of wine after taking a nice soak in the bath before retiring in front if the fire.

Marvellous cottage, marvellous welcome

Frances and Mike were wonderful hosts - nothing was too much trouble, including the rapid replacement of a fitting that a previous visitor had broken. The cottage has been set up with taste and is very well equipped. It is in a quiet corner of the village which has all the facilities anyone could want. We were house-hunting and our hosts were even able to help us there too. Highly recommended.

Great little village property

With a bi-weekly market, village shops and lovely public pool within five minutes walk, this little property is just great if you want to feel part of the community. Downstairs is fully modernized with an ample lounge/diner and lovely kitchen. Upstairs there are two tiny bedrooms, with comfy beds and crisp white cotton bedding, and a huge bath with modern shower. The whole property is immaculately clean and tastefully decorated, with so many little touches to help things along - herb rack, apron, full supply of loo rolls...... and the English owners are really helpful. Less mobile should be aware of the steep lane, tricky parking and steep stairs.

Prachtig en goed verzorgd vakantiehuis! Het ontbreekt werkelijk aan niets. Heerlijke bedden!

Wij gaan al jaren op vakantie via homeaway maar dit jaar was t echt geweldig! De ontvangst door Frances en Mike is ongelofelijk! Je voelt je direct thuis en zeer welkom. Huis ligt ergens verstopt in n smal straatje maar als je binnenkomt is t echt n verrassing. Alle foto's die je ziet op deze site kloppen volledig. Heel sfeervol ingericht met zorg voor kleine details. Tuin is heerlijk rustig en is helemaal privé. Als je aankomt hoef je eigenlijk bijna geen boodschappen te doen, zoveel staat er al voor je klaar. Wijn, champagne, kaas, brood het kan niet op!! Echt heel bijzonder. Dus mocht je nog twijfelen: gewoon gaan!! Bedankt Frances en Mike!!

What a cute little cottage, and so well equipped, it had everything we needed and more.

The Cottage felt really homely, and it was an easy walk to shops, restaurants e.t.c. The hosts had thought of lots of lovely touches to get our holiday off to a good start. The provisions left for our arrival were very much appreciated. A delightful little place with lots of character, and we would definitely recommend it.

Excellent house and garden

We had a lovely stay in a house full of character so tastefully and thoughtfully furnished and decorated. Mike and Frances have ensured you have a walm welcome even providing enough to get your first supper and breakfast, not to forget a bottle of wine to relax you in. We really enjoyed the privacy and facilities in the garden. The house is close to shops and bars. If you are feeling fit you can even walk to the supermarket. All in all somewhere we would highly recommend.
