The nearest seaside resort is Montalto di Castro, a 1 h 45 min. drive away. If you feel like driving a little further, you can reach the beautiful beaches of Argentario. During the month of August, 'Il Palio di S. Rocco' is held in Città della Pieve. The town goes back in time on the occasion of this grandiose festival that involves inhabitants and tourists alike. For 10 consecutive days, the organisers of the feast dress up in ancient mediaeval costumes and give life to the goliardic challenges between the knights. During this time, restaurants, inns and taverns offer dishes and recipes with ancient flavours.
