We spent Christmas here and it was amazing. So much to do at the Cabin. Pool table, hot tub, incredible views, fire pit, and the lake to go fishing. Our host was accommodating by letting us book an additional night. The beds were comfortable and they have WiFi which helped us stay connected with family and friends. We spent Christmas Eve snow skiing in Maggie Valley and took a Christmas Day hike on the Appalachian trail at Fontana Dam. We truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away.

What a wonderful cabin with all the amenities you can imagine! We even had an apple pie waiting on us when we arrived! Very clean, very well equipped kitchen and bathrooms, highly recommended!!!

Serene. Beautiful views. Incredible star gazing. Lazy Elk is 4-5 miles from the nearest through road. The last two miles are on a well maintained gravel driveway. This guarantees privacy and quiet. We spent hours on the deck without hearing a man made sound (except for occasional hot tub and air conditioning). At night we counted satellites and watched shooting stars. Mornings we watched the clouds form and rise right in front of us. At first we had trouble slowing down to natures pace but by the end of our stay we were ready for another week. The dock is fun but it is a steep winding trail to get there. The ATV is a must. The only negative is it does takes a while to get to hiking trails. We hiked Lake Santeela Lake Nantahala and various hikes in the Smokey Mountains and it was always 45-75 minutes. Bryson City is about 45 minutes away.

First off the view was spectacular! Amy and Eric were quick to respond which was a plus. Cabin was nice, but a few things that could use attention: Mildew on outdoor cushions, broken umbrellas, broken ping pong table, kitchen cabinet doors & drawers broken. Pictures online must be from years ago as decks, playset, etc are very worn. I would not even mention these things typically, but for the price point per night, these items need to be addressed. In addition, the path to get to lake is TREACHEROUS. The ATV is handy but the path has washouts and ruts that need to be addressed. The online description needs to be clear that it is a HAUL to get down to the dock. Also, I would not rent the pontoon boat for the week or you will get stuck like we did paying for the entire stay and only being able to use for 2 days, due to inclement weather. In addition, you use more gas driving 45 minutes to get to a marina to fill up the boat then we used while actually boating. This place is pretty but in the middle of nowhere. there are no stores and no dining closer than at least 30 minutes away. If you are seeking solitude than it is perfect.

This was an AMAZING WEEKEND stay! The owner/property manager decorated the cabin for our friend's 50th birthday and even provided a cake and flowers...how super thoughtful and kind. We all so appreciated that surprise!!! THANKS YOU SO VERY MUCH! The cabin has such awesome comfort and every amenity to relax and have fun! I no longer have to search for the perfect cabin for next vacation NC cabin. We'll definitely be returning. Truly appreciate all you did to make it very special! It really was over & beyond!

The view from the deck is absolutely amazing, this is where we spent most of our time. The house was larger than we expected with plenty of room for the 8 of us. We rented the boat for the week, The kids and adults all had a blast tubing and looking at the gorgeous mountain view’s!

Anniversary Vacation

The Lazy Elk cabin was a beautiful home that provided an amazing view of the surrounding mountains and lake below. We appreciated all the lovely amenities provided in the cabin. Lake Fontana getaway

Had a lovely time. Host was very responsive and easy to communicate with. The view from the backporch is stunning, and we enjoyed mornings drinking coffee and watching for the bald eagle to fly across the lake. Overall very relaxing time!

Everything was even better than expected. Great views, relaxing atmosphere, and even good kitchen wear!We had a few small issues brought on by cold weather, but the owner connected us with the property manager, who helped us troubleshoot the issues quickly.

Amazing experience

My family rented the cabin for Christmas. The cabin was wonderful with amazing views of the lake and mountains. The cabin was furnished beautifully and stocked with everything we needed. It was comfortable and charming. The best part was it was decorated for Christmas with a tree and stockings hung on the fireplace. It was the perfect place for my family to enjoy Christmas and get some well-deserved downtime. The hosts were easy to work with and communicated very well. I would highly recommend this cabin. We can't wait to go back in the summer!

Gratitude on Thanksgiving

We really enjoyed out time at this house. There are close by small towns that are wonderful and we drove to Cherokee that was less than an hour away. Only difficulty was with the GPS, during the day we had no issue but if you go there at night, make sure you get step by step directions ahead of time.

Family Time

The Lazy Elk cabin was as presented in the VRBO information. It was clean, and the view of Fontana Lake was beautiful. Our particular GPS kept misdirecting us to the road, but thankfully some kind locals actually showed us the way. We stayed at the cabin almost the entire week, keeping warm by the fireplace and fire pits, and just unwinding.
