Perfect two day stay

Wonderful stay

Beautifully restored period building to a modern luxury standard. Comfortable and quiet, clean and spacious enough for two families. Well located near Cheltenham and Winchcombe centres as well as Sudeley Castle on the doorstep. Great communication from Bolthole - hard to think of any negatives - would definitely stay again!

A wonderful family break in beautiful accommodation

What a wonderful place to stay . We were very grateful to receive a message that we could check in early which helped our travel arrangements on boxing day, enabling us to arrive in the daytime. From the minute we arrived we felt very at home. Super clean accommodation with everything we needed. The private garden was perfect for our dog and loads of parking space made it all feel so easy. The appliances were all fab as was the showers , beds, towels and the super bath, which was just the perfect way to end the day after a long walk in the gorgeous Cotswolds. Winchcombe itself is a very pretty place with plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants. All in all a gem of a place , congratulations to the owners of The Hayloft!

Amazing

A truly unique accomodation, in a quiet area, surrounded by trees. Hayloft house has a truly amazing interior design with great attention to details. We had everything needed for cooking/serving meals. Good size rooms and beds are comfortable. Very clear instructions on how to get there, easy check in/check out. We had a very nice stay and definitely recommend it.

Amazing stay

From the moment we arrived it felt like home. Everything was clean and fresh, we had all we needed for our stay including a bottle of bubbles in the fridge! We loved our stay here and would highly recommend to anyone looking at this property, stop looking and book it. It was stunning and we loved it!

Wonderful stay

An amazing stay with family at this lovely property. It had everything we needed and we particularly enjoyed the beautiful garden and fresh eggs from the chickens. So peaceful and just a mile or so walk into Winchcombe via country paths. We would love to come back.

Lovely place to stay

The cottage is beautifully presented, a very good size with an open plan living space, perfect for a family gathering. The location is very quiet but close to Winchcombe which has a very good supermarket and shops. The countryside around is beautiful and there are some lovely walks in the area and around Sudely Castle. We will be visiting again. Thank you.

Family trip to Winchcombe

6 of us stayed at the Hayloft with a baby & dog. Perfect location for exploring the Cotswolds. Set in lovely grounds with great private outdoor area. Found great walks on the all trails app from the doorstep. Lovely pubs bakeries and places to eat in Winchcombe and only 30 mins from Cheltenham and Bourton On The Water. Would highly recommend!

Home away from Home

The Hayloft is a lovely rental cottage with designer details and loads of charm. It's plenty big for 6 adults or a family with kids. The kitchen was very well equipped and we easily prepared simple meals. Fresh farm eggs are available for purchase in an honesty box. Having a washer and dryer and the quiet and very private outdoor patio was a huge plus for longer stays. There's quick access to hiking trails nearby and we it is very walkable to Winchcombe where they have excellent restaurants. We would definitely stay here again in the future. If I had one suggestion or recommendation it would be to provide a larger coffee pot so all the guests could get a cup in the morning instead of having to take turns making 2 cups at a time. Top notch rental!

Beautiful Kid Friendly Cottage in the Cotwalds

The Hayloft at Bolthole Retreats was such an incredibly lovely property to stay during a friend's wedding in the Cotswalds. It is kept up very nicely with clearly updated amenities. This particular cottage would be perfect for a family with young children as it even has a great yard space with a play structure! The entire property was absolutely stunning and just a short walk into town. I highly recommend it!

Lovely short break in Winchcombe

We really enjoyed our time in the Hayloft. Beautifully presented, with high quality fixtures and fittings. The beds were really comfortable with sumptuous linen and towels. Abundant hot water, lovely showers and bath. My only comment would be that it would have been good to have more than 6 knives plates etc.

A great secret getaway

From the second you walk in , to the moment you leave you feel as if you are totally and utterly immersed in a beautiful building that exudes history , but is as modern as it could be without going over the top , and it’s the little details that count - cocktail maker kit!!! Wow!!! We could not fault the cleanliness, the super quality of the bedding / towels and the welcome bottle of fizz was a great touch !!!!

Very lovely place with no faults! Absolutely beautiful!

Lovely property, very spacious and has everything you would need. Lovely little extras to make it special and so peaceful. One thing we would make a note of, the main gate into the property is very very stiff and a few times we struggled a lot. This would need looking at. Other than that, it was a perfect stay!

Hi, The Hayloft was fabulous, really special and felt very homely whilst also having that luxury feel to it. The only comment I have is that for the price it would have been nice to have a bit more of a welcome pack (maybe some nice eggs from those fab hens), some bread perhaps? It was very much appreciated that milk and Prosecco were left as well as the coffee/tea bits and bobs. Maybe some butter or olive oil too? Also, shower gel/shampoo/conditioner ? These are added extras that can really go a long way in the customer experience and it means you don't have to bring everything with you. I think price wise and comparing to other similar places we've stayed these extras really were useful. Other than that it was perfect and we do hope to return soon. We have already recommended to friends and family ! Many thanks again, lovely stay Fiona and Mark

Excellent Family Retreat

Our stay from start to finish was hassle free. Booking with Bolthole Retreats was so easy, their staff are friendly and approachable. They were very knowledgeable about the properties and the area. This helped us to narrow down our selection to three! Their confirmation of your booking is online and includes all the information you could want or need, plus they offer discounts into many of the attractions in the Cotswolds. Ideal if you are a family to help keep the costs down! The Hayloft itself has absolutely everything you could want or need - a true home from home. We didn't find ourselves looking for, or needing anything. The hosts are responsive and delightful. The set up of the Hayloft means it is basically almost on one level, just two steps down to two bedrooms and a bathroom, with the third bedroom and ensuite being off to the side of the kitchen and on the same level. The property is ideal for multi-generational families too. The garden is secure and fenced, with a small play area of a slide and two swings. Kept the grandchildren happy for hours! We enjoyed listening to the chickens further up the garden and even took some fresh laid eggs home! To sum up a great hassle free holiday and the weather was superb too!

Great place to stay with a few negatives from our experience

Positives were booking experience, location, presentation and overall comfort of the Hayloft. We especially loved the outside space. Negatives were there was no heating for the first 24 hours and no alternative offered. We reported this shortly after arrival when all our attempts to follow the instructions failed. We were told to contact the next morning if the heating continued to fail and the two messages left were not picked up till late afternoon so the heating wasn’t fixed till that evening. It made the first evening and morning uncomfortably cold. There was also a continuing leak in the Master Bedroom en-suite that we reported twice. Whilst the kitchen was well stocked, we would suggest scissors and oven gloves are essentials that were missing

Glorious weekend location

Perfect spot for our sisters weekend. The four of us were very comfortable and delighted with the look, feel and level of attention to detail. This is a fabulous place - easy walk into Winchcombe and great lunch at The Lion Inn; 4 mins drive to Gretton and great lunch at The Royal Oak.

Perfect for a Cotswolds Escape

We had a wonderful long weekend at The Hayloft (3 couples - 6 adults) and were lucky with the weather for most of our stay in October. It was an easy walk into Winchcombe which is a lovely village and had all the amenities we needed including a great bakery and even better pubs/restaurants. The Hayloft itself is a beautiful property which is comfortable and well equipped - the owners have pretty much thought of everything that would be needed. There was plenty of space for all of us and the beautiful bath in the main bedroom was heavenly especially after a full day of walking. There are plenty of great walks on the doorstep and it was also fairly easy to get to other more well known villages by car such as Bourton on Water and Moreton in Marsh, etc. We also enjoyed some delicious eggs from the neighbours chickens! We would definitely recommend this property as an ideal base for a Cotswolds escape and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

The Hayloft was a lovely place to stay, everything about it was to a high level and I have nothing negative to say! Lots of information was provided in advance, which was really helpful. I would thoroughly recommend staying here.
