A delightful cottage with top class furnishings blended in to a very characterful shell, juxtaposed with top-end tech throughout.
We stayed for 4 nights, 2 adults and 1 child (9).
Pros:
- very communicative throughout from the owner, thank you
- supremely comfortable beds and sofas and very thoughtfully and tastefully kitted out
- the WiFi and tech: superb throughout, the cinema room being a massive hit with the 9 year old
- outside space and a good sized garden and entertainment
- large and well stocked kitchen
- whilst Andoversford itself isn’t quintessentially Cotswolds, it is very practically located to explore the Cotswolds and for trips into Cheltenham
- EV charger was a real selling point. However I would add that this cottage is attached to a smaller holiday let who could also have use of the EV charger. I don’t recall this being made clear at the time of booking. Wasn’t an issue as the couple staying in the other let didn’t have an EV, but it would have been interesting if they did. Still, a massive bonus though.
Cons:
- extreme lack of storage space in bedrooms. Ok for us but a group of 6 would struggle
- parts of the cottage could do with a lick of paint
- facilities on hand, such as a bbq, but expectation to clean them. I did as there would have been a charge if not, but for the price paid for 4 nights then we would not have expected to have had to do this. This does not mean we’re not clean and tidy people, we are. And most people would happily clean off their own back (we did) but a threat of a fine if NOT cleaned vs. the price paid to stay isn’t necessary
- small details: the lawn could have done with a cut and there was all sorts of detritus behind one of the sheds, but clearly on display. Again not an issue for us but if families arrived with very small children then could be an issue
Whilst there are some areas for improvement, these are subjective and others may see it differently.
Overall though, a highly recommended and fabulous base for a Cotswolds break. It was with heavy hearts that we had to vacate after our short break yesterday.
