Unique property
We really enjoyed being walking distance to Chatham‘s main street. The unit itself was very roomy for our family of four, and we appreciated having two bathrooms. Our preference for future stays would probably be a more modern property, but especially if you want the historic feel of Cape Cod, this is a great choice.

Memorial Day week at Ship's Light
Thank you for this amazing stay! The location is absolutely ideal, near a pond, the sea, Chatham town, in the middle of the cape so near everything. The house is absolutely lovely and set for everything needed to relax- outside reading, inside in the living room, the kitchen well equipped... we wish to plan a return visit. Thank you!

Old Fashioned Fun
We had a wonderful time at this charming property. In particular the working fireplace added to the coziness and old fashioned feel of the unit. One observation, though: Although the TV is a good size flat screen the "basic cable" package made for very limited viewing (no CNN, Fox, NESN, Espn, Golf Channel, etc.). Since we were there for only 4 nights this was a non-issue this trip. But, given the excellent location, warmth and coziness, this would make a pleasant winter getaway for a week or so and the limited viewing would be a significant issue then.

House set in quiet neighborhood. Enjoyed walks to nearby Park and homes. Also, close to Main Street. We appreciated reading the booklet on the History of the house and how its been lovingly preserved! Thank-you for a Special stay!

End of summer getaway
We wanted an end-of-summer getaway before the start of the new school year and found the Gifford Buck apartment available. It had everything we needed and so close to Main Street with all the shops and eateries. The owners were very responsive, though we didn't need anything during our stay. Quiet, calm pond nearby if you have smaller kids but mine are older so we walked to Lighthouse Beach. This house has history and I would love to see what the other apartments look like. Another time!

Charming Chatham Stay
Exactly as described this refurbished 1828 home felt perfect for our stay in Chatham. Antiques mingled with modern comforts. Walking distance to downtown. We’d love to return. We loved the location of this charming home. We could easily walk to downtown. It is a historic home so it is not like staying in a new build but that is what we loved about it. Allison was very easy to communicate with and we would totally stay there again

Quaint and comfortable
a quaint large VRBO apartment in an old Chatham home in easy walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The largest of the units in the house is decorated with vintage items and there is lots of space! We had a great time.

Historic Cape Code
Great historic property; stayed in the Gifford-Buck house. Two bedroom two bath decorated for the time period; clean and quaint. Only 1 block from Main Street Chatham. Great location. Some confusion on check in, contacted owners and they responded quickly to correct. This was our first trip to the area and we can't wait to come back again. Would book this property again.

Charming Historic Home
My family stayed with me at the Gifford Buck apt. The house was built in 1928. It’s charming and an ideal location Di or exploring Chatham. The apartment is large, 2 bathrooms, washing and dryer, compfy beds, beautiful decor, with plenty of books to read. The porch is perfect for drinking your morning coffee. Short walk to Oyster pond, windmill, and downtown restaurants and shops. I highly recommend and would love to come back.

Wedding Weekend
We stayed at Ship's Light over a long weekend to attend a family wedding. It was the perfect place for us -- very comfortable with lots of space to spread out. And our teenage gave the WiFi two thumbs up!

Chatham Vacation
Property location was great & we were within easy walking distance to downtown Chatham.. However, the unit lacked cleanliness & was in need of upgrading. Bathrooms, towels, kitchen small appliances & LR furniture were unsatisfactory. It was very quaint and we appreciated this uniqueness. But unit needed a deep cleaning. Bathrooms were very outdated & doors would simply not close which then lacked any privacy. Living room couch was very uncomfortable. Comments were left for the owners who seemed to be very nice people. House has a remarkable history & enjoyed reading the details in the book left by the owner.

We are sorry that this guest was unhappy with the accommodations at Ship's Light. Based on the note they left, it appears they misunderstood our request to "leave the unit as you found it" to mean they had to do all the cleaning. Basically, we ask guests to pick up after themselves: wash your dishes; bag your trash and put it in the trash cans--simple things. The house receives a deep cleaning and disinfecting between each rental. We are proud of our cleaning crew; every other guest has attested to the cleanliness of the unit. Their stay coincided with a particularly humid week on the Cape. Wood--even 200-year old wood--swells when it's humid; doors may stick, but they do close. Unless you stay in a hermetically-sealed, completely air conditioned space on the Cape (of which there are very few), swollen doors during a few weeks in the summer are a fact of life.

Lovely home in a great location
We were able to walk or bike around Chatham, to Oyster Pond, and to the Chatham extension of the Rail Trail. The house is historic, and the hosts provided interesting materials on the history of the home. Its furnishing is old-fashioned, exactly like in the photos, which makes sense for an historic home. We were quite comfortable and appreciated the spacious garage to store our bikes.

Great Location for Walking
We had a delightful stay at the Ship’s Light. The house is two blocks from Main Street in Chatham. We were also able to walk to Lighthouse Beach. It was a bit further to the beginning of the rail trail, but not a difficult ride. The apartment was clean and comfortable.

A great place to stay
We very much enjoyed this property. It was spacious, with a large living room and dining room, along with two smallish bedrooms and a full kitchen. The picnic table on the porch was a nice amenity, as were the two full bathrooms and wood-burning fireplace. The utensils were a bit random and could have been cleaned more thoroughly but overall it was an excellent place to stay and we enjoyed our long weekend very much. One of us has mobility issues, so we couldn't take much advantage of the great location within walking distance of downtown Chatham - but anyone else would find that great.

Clean, spacious, outdoor gas grill, a garage storage for our bikes and kayaks, had everything we needed. Great location, walking distance to Main Street shops and E Mack & Bolios ice-cream! Looking forward to staying there again next year!

Beautiful House!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very historic Chatham house. The owners were super helpful in suggesting things to do in Chatham and Cape Cod and are extremely knowledgeable about Chatham and the history of the town. The house has everything and allowed the family to focus on enjoying the surrounding area. Chatham has many beaches and Cape Cod at large also has many fun places to explore! Do yourself a favor and stay at this beautiful house.

Great location, plenty of room!
We had a wonderful stay at this apartment. The location was great and within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, Oyster Pond beach, and to a nice little park with a beautiful windmill and labyrinth. We liked that it wasn’t a far drive to get to other larger bayside beaches (about 15-20 mins) from the apt. Lighthouse beach (Atlantic side) is beautiful and just over a mile away. The apartment itself was very clean, spacious, and we were able to store our bikes in the garage, with plenty room to also store kayaks. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Thank you!

Perfect vacation home in Chatham
Ships Light is a comfortable home with great access to nearby beaches and the charming downtown. The 2 bed 2 bath unit we occupied was clean and spacious and our 3 year old enjoyed the large side yard. We walked to the Oyster Pond Beach, which is perfect for younger children. We will definitely come back.

Great location and very spacious!
We loved our time at Ship’s Light. The location was great, walking distance to downtown and a short drive to area beaches. The house was very spacious for our family of four. In Chatham we enjoyed Oyster Pond, Hardings Beach, Lighthouse Beach and Cockles Cove. Area restaurants were great, Wild Goose and Squires were nice spots. We also enjoyed great pizza at Sweet Tomatoes and then went to watch an evening ball game at Veterans field. Boston is within driving distance and a day trip included some sightseeing and a Red Sox game. Overall this was a fantastic family holiday!

Wonderful Accommodations in Chatham
The Gifford Buck apartment at Ship's Light was the perfect home away from home for our family of four. It was quite spacious, the kitchen was well-equipped, and the beds were comfortable. We also loved that we could leave the windows open day and night and enjoy the incredible temperatures (in July) and smell the light fragrance from blooming shrubs around the house. Everything about the home was very warm and welcoming, and we loved the charm and history preserved from a bygone era. The house is perfectly located, within (close) walking distance to downtown Chatham, as well as the Oyster Pond. We enjoyed many walks through beautiful neighborhoods during our stay. The owners were very friendly and replied quickly to my request to locate an iron. Overall, we loved our stay at Ship's Light and would absolutely stay here, again, when visiting Chatham. We highly recommend this property!

Quintessential Cape Cod
The pictures don't do the Gifford-Buck apartment justice. The apartment is beautifully furnished with character pieces, and you can sense the history of the home. It was very clean and tidy. There was plenty of room for spreading out and making yourself at home. And it was situated in the perfect location, walking distance to everything. If (when) we come back to Chatham, we would definitely stay here again!

Property was fantastic.
From the second my family arrived -- we immediately felt the charm of our unit. This met all of our needs for the week. A/C in the bedrooms was great, kitchen was the perfect size to not feel cramped while cooking, washer / dryer worked well, etc. Easily fits a family of four with generous living / dining room as well. Thank you to Allison for an excellent rental! Definitely will be returning.
