My wife and I stayed at The Loutrel for our anniversary, and honestly, it's hard to find anything to complain about. This place just gets it right.
From the minute we pulled up, the staff made us feel like we were welcome, not in that rehearsed, corporate hospitality kind of way, but genuinely warm. Special shoutout to Carl the valet, who was a standout from start to finish. He took great care of the car, but what really made an impression was that he greeted us by name every single time we came back in, and had some genuinely great recommendations for getting around Charleston. Little things like that stick with you.
The room was spacious and well done, the kind of space where you walk in and just go "okay, yeah, this is it." Comfortable, beautiful, nothing to nitpick.
The rooftop is worth your time. It's big, has a great vibe, and is the kind of spot where you sit down for one drink and end up staying a while. No complaints there.
Location-wise, you really can't do better in Charleston. We were walking distance from great food, great bars, and some of the most beautiful streets in the South. We barely touched the car after Carl parked it.
If you're heading to Charleston for an anniversary, a birthday, or really any special occasion, and especially if you're going as a couple, The Loutrel is the move. We'll be back.
