Fun at the sea at IOP

Our family of 17 (aged 4-73) loved our stay at Lady Poseidon. Being on the beach was so convenient. The pool was great for the younger kids. Management was responsive to a couple of issues we had. We hope to stay again sometime.

Quiet oceanfront location with impressive owner's bedroom

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is an idyllic location at the south end of the island with incredible views and an unbelievable, single floor owner's suite. One caveat: we were greeted by a leak from the upstairs balcony that dripped into the dining room during a period of heavy rain. The rental company was promptly notified and the remainder of our stay was dry (as was the weather); however, this will need to be addressed for future rentals. Overall, an excellent stay.

The layout was great, allowing everyone access to the communal areas. Elevator was a bit flakey and the bathrooms on the main floor need recaulking at least. Oven was very slow to heat up, but cooked well once it reached temperature.

Grandson required multiple stitches in his foot from one of many sharp nails sticking up on the walkway to the beach. Pool area is infested with ants. Maintenance guy said there was nothing that he could do about either.

The only issue we had was all the red ants outside: in the pool, around the pool, and on the boardwalk to the beach. Pool man, David, sprayed twice, but the pesky little critters were not phased in the least. Views from the house were beautiful. It is a BIG house for a family of 8.It was a joy to work with Jill at East Islands.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much. The house is clean and has some great features. We will be renting again in the future. The location is a bit far down the island so you are not walkable to the shops and have to be careful swimming near the inlet.On the maintenance side, the only thing that caused some issue was the wood down the steps to the pool and out to the beach. We had to pull splinters from the kids a lot! You have to make sure you wear shoes if you want to avoid that but the kids constantly forgot. If that got fixed it would be amazing.

October Beach Vacation

The beach was steps away, the pool and heated spa were amazing. Beds very comfortable, plenty bedding, towels and room. Kitchen is very well stocked. Plenty of room and seating for our large family gathering. Only downsides, the elevator stopped functioning after the first day of use. We ultimately had to wheel our 2 handicapped visitors in wheelchairs up the front porch stairs. Outdoor furniture covers could have used some cleaning and a new grill is desperately needed. Would for sure rent again next year if those downsides were corrected. Overall and incredible stay!

We greatly appreciated the promptness of the work that could be done while there. Upon arrival the house is impressive. The beds were comfortable, though no mattress or pillow case covers. The elevator was broken which was a disappointment. The house was well worn, the furniture in main room impractical and the the house was over all very dirty. Overall the house was fine and we had a lovely stay with great memories and grateful for the time had.

Family Time in Lowcountry

Lady Poseidon was a wonderful home to experience the Charleston area- the generous porch with 180 degree view of the ocean was the perfect spot to gather for morning coffee, happy hour and after dinner chatting. The spot is perfect - cute town of IOP and a short 20 minute trip into the city. It was all of our first experience in Charleston area and we all want to come back and stay at Lady Poseidon. Only one improvement recommended - BBQ doesn't work - the men in our family are all experts at the BBQ - so dinner plans had to change -we recommend either replacing the BBQ or remove it as an amenity.The management company staff were so friendly and helpful.

Don’t waste your money on this place!

DON’T BOOK THIS PLACE. Find another down the road and you’ll be much happier. The property management team does not take care of this home. Despite all the previous reviews saying: “fix the steps, everyone got splinters” and “there are no kitchen towels” all those issues were still unresolved when we got there. Very disappointing that even after they’re made aware of these issues there is no change. One day a man with East Islands Property management unlocked the front door and came into the house while we were there. It was extremely uncomfortable, unprofessional and an invasion of privacy. They seemed to have someone at the house every day of our 10 day stay. The icing on the cake for us was when ON THE LAST DAY the pool finally worked and was warm and clean. But then the lawn guy came over for the entire afternoon to make things look nice “because the owner was coming tomorrow.” He wrecked the pool with all the grass and dirt and we couldn’t swim in it. It’s so obvious they only cared about it looking nice for the owner and didn’t give a rip about our experience. They spent the whole week trying to fix things for the owner at the expense of our trip.

Great Location, Management Good, House Needs Attention

This is our second year in a row vacationing in IOP. Our last years home spoiled us providing so many extras. This home is in a great location, had enough space for our large group of 14 and the deck offers a wonderful evening view and has a nice enough kitchen. The property management company did their best to take care of all the fixes needed and sent someone out as soon as possible. They were good communicators and friendly. The only thing I would suggest is simple supplies to make renters feel appreciated. Reusable plastic cups/bowls/silverware for kids, cleaning spray & hand soap in the kitchen. Dish rags & extra dish towels, enough for large groups. One or two laundry baskets. Many of us fly in and can't carry these extra supplies. The home owners need to do some serious updating and maintenance. Overall the house & a lot of furnishings are tired. Broken things that needed fixing during our stay were the hot water. After a plumber came we got better hot water but the kitchen still did not get hot enough water for dishes and dishwasher. We spent the first few days with intermittent hot water and no hot water for showers in all but one bathroom. The Plumber lead us to believe a new unit was needed to totally fix the issues. The ant situation is so BAD. The sign says they spray regularly but we had three locals tell us it should not be that bad. So bad that the ants looked like sand at the bottom of the pool and the kids couldn't play in the yard nor lay by pool without spraying constantly. Ants floated in the pool even hours after the pool cleaner came. Master Bedroom dishwasher broken. Elevator didn't work on arrival, worked the few times we hauled up additional groceries and didn't work again at checkout. One of the master showers on main floor had a bulging wall and there was a drip in master bathroom from a light fixture that made us nervous and had signs of mold. Small deck upstairs off master needs serious attention as floor appears soft and there were several nails on decking that need to be hammered in or taken out as a hazard. House could use additional silverware (spoons for sure). Sand should be removed from walkway by beach. TV/Internet not working the first day but fixed by day two. Overall we love this side of IOP and considered re-renting but there are just too many issues and I feel like I would be rewarding bad behavior as owners don't seem to care about the property or their renters.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: 2 of 8 of us live here in the Charleston area. The other 6 traveled from Indiana. My wife rented this property 13 years ago for my 50th surprise birthday party. All of these visitors were at that event as well. There is no question the property, the location, and general aura of an IOP property is ideal for time away with friends. We were disappointed in the overall condition of the home this time vs our 1st rental experience...the 1st time, it was pristine...this time, the property was very tired. Bathrooms need rot repair, the kitchen cabinets need repair, trim in numerous areas need repair and caulking, the furniture is dirty and worn, the kitchen area needs paining, the TVs and cable system are antique, the floors were grungy, the elevator didn’t work, and the exterior grounds at back were not well kept at all.We had a good time but we were disappointed that $12K was not able to lease a first class vacation spot like we remembered from before.I offer this as constructive feedback regarding the property. The rental staff an IOP was great.

The house needs a lot of work, shower doors, drawers broken, difficult to open and close, etc. the main issue is the cleanliness like filthy cushions, nasty floors , corner of rug protruding up causing a trip hazard, garage and deck covered in trash. Dirty dishes in the cabinet. Pans were dirty. Walk way out to beach protruding nails.

Amazing house on the island

We throughly enjoyed this home directly on the beach. The view is amazing of the ocean. Pool and hot tub were great for the kids to swim. House is a perfect set-up for a large group, even our young kids. Most restaurants are within a 1.5 mile radius so we rented a golf cart. Wish there were more restaurants and shops closer to the home though. The house is well stocked of bath towels, toilet paper etc. however there were zero beach towels. I also would recommend laundry baskets in each bedroom. There was a mini vacuum too which helped with all the sand. Again the house was great!

Wonderful Vacation

This house was great for us. Quiet beach area, easy access, great pool. Everything was exactly as described. A couple of small issues that were taken care of immediately. Will be back.

Beautiful, private paradise! With the beach just a few yards away, private pool, and a huge porch overlooking the ocean it is an awesome location!

Beach vacay

This house had everything needed for our family (ages 2 - 65) to enjoy a week at the beach. The beach, which was just a short boardwalk from our back yard , was never crowded. The children could go from the beach to the backyard pool with adult eyes always supervising. The large back porch overlooked the beach and was so relaxing and comfortable with the breeze from the water even in a 100 degree day. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
