We recently stayed in the “Charleston Charm” rental in Charleston and wanted to share an important detail for future guests. The listing describes the property as a “recently renovated 4-bedroom home” with space and comfort, which gives the impression that you are renting the entire house. However, it does not disclose that the owners live in a separate unit upstairs. This setup might not be an issue for everyone, but unfortunately the home is not well soundproofed. We could clearly hear the upstairs occupants throughout our stay — including footsteps at all hours, conversations, and what sounded like a dog playing. One morning, we were even woken up before 8:00am by what sounded like someone playing an acoustic guitar. That said, there were several positives. The kitchen was very well stocked and featured modern appliances, including a Ninja all-in-one cooker, dishwasher, Keurig coffee maker, and a full-size refrigerator, which made it easy to prepare meals during our stay. The street itself is tight and crowded — typical for Charleston — but having an off-street parking spot was a big plus and made things much more convenient.Additionally, the management company was very responsive when we had an issue. They replied immediately and had someone onsite within 2 hours to make a repair. The service team was friendly and pleasant to work with, which we appreciated. If you’re looking for a quiet, private stay or expecting full-home exclusivity, this may not meet your needs.
