The location of this villa is good. Walking distance to Aptera which has a basic mini market, taverna, kafenion and restaurant. The views across Souda Bay are stunning and offer interest with ships and submarines using the port regularly. You can see planes landing and taking off in the distance but there is no noise from the airport. However, as the villa overlooks the main E75 highway, there is the constant sound of traffic but you soon learn to tune this out. Villa Nikos is extremely well laid out and both the living room furniture and the beds are comfortable. It is cleaned twice a week by a delightful lady and the pool guys are unobtrusive and thorough. The owner was very helpful and fixed a problem we had immediately.
Our favourite supermarket was the EKAABENITHE in Souda, laid out on two floors with a car park opposite but there is also a SYN.KA further up the street.
We visited Chania several times, as it was so near, the Botanical Gardens, Ancient Aptera, Elafonisi Beach, Lake Kournas (go early before the crowds descend) the Springs of Argyroupolis (which are full of restaurants and not a lot else), Rethymno and also caught the ferry from Chora Sfakion to Loutro. So there is plenty to do!
I would definitely recommend a stay at Villa Nikos and would like to thank everyone who helped to make our holiday in Crete so special.
