Beautiful villa, centrally located and very big and spacious. We loved using the BBQ daily and swim by the pool. Everything was wonderful, 10/10 recommend. Would come back. It gave you the feel of Crete if you are looking for the "local" feel and not something modern and very new.

Exceptional!!!

As a family we have been very fortunate over the years to have stayed in some amazing villas, having returned from a glorious two weeks stay at Villa Mathea I am thinking this one may have just top the list of them all. From the comunications with Thor from day 1 to the support when needed from Niki the manager everything about our stay was perfect. The villa itself is finished to a very high standard. The four bathrooms have all recently been upgraded earlier this year all looked stunning with top of the range furnishings. All in all we had an amazing time. When next visiting Chania we will certainly be looking to stay again in Villa Mathea. During our two week stay we created some wonderful memories, thank you Thor for allowing us to stay in your wonderful villa.

Villa Mathea var et deilig sted å feriere på. Det er stille og rolig, og likevel kort vei til det aller meste. Vi var 13 i alt, den yngste bare to og et halvt år, og vi hadde god tomleplass i de innholdrike husene og på den store eiendommen. Bassenget er en sann fryd. Vi fikk veldig god hjelp av eierene med både planlegging og gjennomføring av ferien vår. Alt det praktiske gikk som smurt og kokken de anbefalte, ga oss en uforglemmelig kveld!

Beautiful villa, friendly & helpful host - Perfect conditions for an unforgettable week in paradise

Not sure where to start. We spent some lovely days at the Villa Mathea to celebrate our Bachelor degree (12 people). The main villa and its annex are impressive, spacious and well equipped. The garden and pool area is in perfect shape and very well maintained. Mrs. Nikki provided a very friendly reception and has showed us around the location. If anything is missing or questions arise Mrs. Nikki is just one call away. The cleaning staff was very friendly and thorough. Argoulides, where the villa is located is a small village - so you don't have to bother about the neighbours. The airport is just 15min away, but since there are just a few flights per day you wont get disturbed by plane noise. Mini markets are only 5min away by car and bigger supermarkets around 15min. We suggest to rent a car. To sum it up, it was a perfect week in a spotless villa with a very friendly host. I do recommend this villa without hesitation, also to families. We would love to come back soon.

Villa Mathea is perfection

The villa was absolutely beautiful. It looked just as it is in the photographs, even better! On arrival we were greeted by a very helpful lady who made us feel extremely welcome. The pool area was delightful for evening BBQs and lunches out by the pool. I would recommend to hire a car as it is a little far from the main towns and beaches so taxis can get a little expensive. The cleaning team came twice during the week, they were extremely polite and helpful and refreshed the villa perfectly. All in all a great holiday! Thanks to Thor-Kjetil, Niki & other staff for a great week!

Beautifully maintained villa with great view

We had a great week in Villa Mathea (10 adults, 5 small children). The villa is spacious and everything is in very good shape including the well maintained outdoor-area. The facilities are all great (e.g. the outdoor bbq) and so are the extras provided, there was a huge welcome basket as we arrived and there are even two strollers for babies! The villa was cleaned twice during our stay. Check-in and check-out was very uncomplicated, we could even have a very late check-out after 9pm as our flight was very late that night. The owner responded to every question extremely quickly and also informed us about a big funeral that took place nearby while we stayed there. The only drawback we have experienced is that the weather was bad the first few days and while staying indoors, two of the 4 sleeping rooms of the main house suffer from very bad soundproofing (milk glass walls only next to the living room ). After the weather has improved, this was no longer an issue.

Perfect for a large family

We all voted this villa one of the best we've ever stayed in and they were very accommodating about an early check-in and late departure which was a great help. The facilities were excellent, especially the large seating area, loungers, drinks fridge and BBQ by the pool with croquet and table tennis to keep everyone happy. The local facilities, including a large supermarket, were excellent although we did struggle to find restaurants near the villa and tended to go to the Old Harbour in Chania where there's a lot to choose from. The villa is quite remote, which is nice if you want some peace and quiet but most things, supermarket, beaches, bars and Chania are over 10 minutes drive.

Absolutely Amazing Property

We could not have been happier with this choice. The owners have decorated the house beautifully and it is equipped with everything you will need. The minute we walked in, we felt at home. The pool is fantastic and great for families with lots of kids. There is a separate guest house where teens have have their space, and so can the parents! While we were happy to tour Crete, we found ourselves even happier to come home to this wonderful property. Furthermore Thor was so incredibly helpful and communicative. This is going to be our home away from home.
