Great house and host!
Very nice home and close to Univ. Of Illinois campus and all we needed to do for the weekend. Host answered questions quickly. Would stay here again!

New year 2023
All the basics worked well. However, contrary to listing, there was no dishwasher. The floors in family room and kitchen were sticky and dirty. The coffee pot in the kitchen still had grounds in the pot from previous guests. The family room blinds were broken so there was no privacy in the back of the house. I also found the expectation that guests should run 2 loads of laundry prior to departure at 11:00 am quite onerous. Furthermore there was a lack of lighting in the family room and living room.

Perfect family spot
My husband, son, and I had the good fortune to find this listing for our annual visit to Champaign over Christmas. It was exactly what we were looking for; pet-friendly, clean, safe, and well-provisioned. The check-in and check-out process was flawless and Karen was an excellent communicator and replied within minutes of contact. The neighborhood is quiet and central to multiple relatives' homes which makes checking on the dog very convenient. As most of our time there was spent sleeping, we were pleased with how comfortable the beds were and how soft and high quality the sheets were. My only tiny complaint would be that the bath towels in the primary bath were a bit worn and threadbare. Pretty minor on the grand scale. Having a washer and dryer on the premises for a longer stay is another feature I will take advantage of next time. I will absolutely book this property again and recommend it to others.

Thanksgiving Get Together
Overall pleased. Plenty of space for us 5 girls although could use additional comfy seating for after shopping movies. Kitchen staples a little lacking (no spices or condiments except salt and pepper. No sharp knives or glassware), but Thanksgiving dinner was a success. We bought steak knives and disposal bake pans for our untraditional dinner of grilled steaks and traditional side dishes. Our host Karen had grill and charcoal available to us so that was a big plus. Very quiet and clean neighborhood. Was a little surprised of checkout process of washing dishes (no dishwasher) and running a couple loads of wash. (Hope the previous guests cleaned as well as we did). But overall we had a fantastic trip and would definitely stay there again. Thanks Karen 😊

Cozy and spacious
What a great place to have your out of town family stay! Plenty of backyard room for a gathering and a lovely indoor patio. Quiet and safe neighborhood near grocery, restaurants and UIUC. We will be back!

Weekend Stay
House was well-kept, clean, and worked well for the 4 of us. Brought our two small dogs and they enjoyed the large fenced back yard and walks around the neighborhood. Not far from campus and other amenities.

Great house near campus!
We had a great time staying at Southwood House! It easily accommodated 6 adults, with plenty of room to spread out. It was stocked with everything we could have needed, and Karen was quick to answer any questions we had. The location is a short drive to campus, and there are several restaurant options nearby. We'll definitely try to stay here next time we come to cheer on the Illini!!
