"While we were only there for one night it was a treat to be able to have gotten one of the few rooms within the castle itself. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious and they were very accommodating to my husband's dietary limitations. The only thing they forgot was having my bear knight and chocolates ready in my room but that's just a minor thing and I did ask for it just the day before so not a big deal once I asked."

"I booked and paid for 3 nights this week. Before arriving, I called the landline at about 11:45 no answer. On arrival just before the 3 pm check-in time the place was shut, doors locked and curtains drawn. Called the mobile number several times and messaged the mobile to inform the person I was waiting to check in. "Quirky place to stay! Lovely big room for our family of four, in peaceful surroundings next to a ruined castle and 10 minutes from Hadrians Wall! Friendly staff and nice home cooked food for dinner and breakfast!"

"Room was fine, tea and coffee wasn't very nice and no complementary biscuits. No magnifying mirror in the bathroom. States Brompton however 8 miles away. Bed was really uncomfortable. Evening meal was nice, 10% surcharge on you bill! Wine expenses! Breakfast was so so. Waited a long time for someone to come to the checkin fest on arrival and departure. "We booked this at the last minute as we were travelling up to the Scottish borders and wanted to break the journey due to the extreme heat. We arrived very late (about 11pm) but we had called the hotel in advance and one of the staff agreed to wait for us. When we did arrive we were greeted with a very warm welcome. Our one regret is that we didn't have time to make use of the observatory (yes you read that right!) All staff very friendly and helpful and loved the breakfast"
