We stayed at the Perch for 3 nights in July. The cottage was spotlessly clean and supplied with everything a family could need and more. The owners have thought of every detail. They provided so many little extras that made the stay very pleasurable from the welcome sign at the door, to the complimentary bottle of wine and coffee for the keurig machine, plus so many things for us to use such as games, marshmallow roasting sticks, movies, and more. The kitchen had every utensil and dish you could possibly need. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. We were made to feel by the owners that they cared for their cottage and they cared about us as their guests. We were very impressed by their management of the rental.
I feel I must include a note about the trek from the cottage to the lake. I did not realize when I booked just how far away the lake and dock were from the cottage and how steep the grade was.. For me, being at the cottage is all about being at the lake for the view as well as swimming and fishing, etc but given the terrain and long hike to and from we rarely went down to the dock and there is not much of a view from the cottage. There are no chairs on the dock, although the owners have made a sitting area with Muskoka chairs and a gas fire pit closer to the shore which was lovely. However, it was not the ideal cottage for fishing, swimming or hanging out at the lake that I am accustomed to. This is in no way a reflection of the owners as it is simply the limitations imposed by the landscape, however I feel compelled to note it for those who also are looking for time at the lake.
The cottage itself was lovely, and just as the pictures show. It was exceptionally well maintained and the owners were fabulous. We had a great time! On a side note, we took a day trip into Perth and that was well worth the drive. It is a gorgeous town with historic buildings and lovely shops and restaurants. Overall a great little vacation! Thank you David and Lucy!
