If you don't have a snow mobile don't go in the winter. You have to hike approx 1000 ft uphill in 2 ft of snow with very little light.

We stayed in Cabin 7. Nice, clean and well maintained. Note there is no kitchen. Microwave, fridge and coffee maker only.

Cabins are clean, and a little on the small side. The hosts were communicative and helpful and the breakfast in the lodge in the morning was basic but nice. Overall, it was a good stay, water could’ve been hotter in the showers.

Absolutely gorgeous area, but because it was off season the restaurant only had limited options and closed early. The bed was not very comfortable.

The area, like all of the Grand Mesa we saw, was gorgeous. BUT, the staff was brusk, inhospitable and combative. The cabin had no heat, and was 48 degrees inside. When we complained to the owner, she bluntly said “that’s not cold”, that there was nothing she could do because the inspector had not been out to certify the heater yet and that she was unable to make a price adjustment because Expedia took her profit margin. I’ve never met a ruder person in the hospitality business.

We were craving a night in the pines in our own cabin with a comfortable bed and private bathroom and this hit the mark. Bonus of a super friendly staff with tasty Polish beer and sausage, plus free breakfast and they let us book just one night! The exterior lodge roof was being reshingled but always good to see improvements occuring. Not fancy, more homey and relaxing!

Everything was terrible. There was supposed to be a deck off the back of the cabin. It collapsed in the winter. They nailed the patio door to the floor so there was only one way out of the cabin. The employees were very disrespectful. Charged me 26 dollars for a pet. We requested our money back and the male employee belittled me. We left and the dog fee was kept. Restaurant was closed because the cook didn’t come in. The rude employee I think was the cook but didn’t want to open. I want my money back.

A police report was filed on August 30. You told my son to go k*ll himself over the deck being missing only insane people would say that. We have no deck on this cabin and doesn’t even show on Expedia. I don’t know what your problem is. We have a 25 pet fee. Have a wonderful life.

Property was very clean and the room smelled wonderful. Our only issue was with the lack of any type of storage (no closet, dresser, etc.) and the lack of privacy. The room (and previous cabin we were in) had only sheer and/or light curtains that didn't fully cover the window. Not private, and impossible to sleep past about 6am.

Beautiful Getaway
We loved the cabin and the view of the lake...Plenty of room...beds were comfortable...breakfast was good. ..only served between 8 am to 9 am...management was very courteous...cabin did need screens as the mosquitoes were unrelenting...rooms could use ceiling fans..there was no complimentary coffee...fishing was great.

There are mosquitoes aplenty in the summer in the Grand Mesa area, due to all the beautiful lakes. Thankfully, liberal bug spray keeps it under control. The evenings cool off, as is typical in the Colorado high-country, but you can't enjoy that in these cabins, as there are no screens on any of the windows. So the cabins don't cool off. They need to get screens for the cabins. However, The most concerning aspect of the property is a safety issue. The decks off the cabins are falling down and unsafe. They don't appear to be any making efforts to warn us guests. One of the people staying with us is a structural engineer and he noted that two of the decks in particular are dangerous.

Hi this is Anna and thank you for your concern for the safety but unfortunately everybody has the same problem due to that 47 feet that we received over the winter. The insurance and instructional engineer were here to inspect the decks, it takes time for them to come out and start fixing the damage that we received. When you checked in we tell everyone not to go in the back of the cabin due to the snow damage. There is also caution tape before the decks. Don’t say that we don’t care because we do. I am sure if the cabin wouldn’t be safe for our guest we wouldn’t have it open for the season. We are not five-star hotel we are located in the middle of the woods. Also if you were to come into the lodge we have a fan that you can come get, all of the cabin windows have screens. We also have a brand new hotel on the property. Thank you

Well, it was a long way up! But the accommodations were pretty nice, it was a little too warm for my sleeping preference but I understand that they really don’t need a/c. The moon was so bright and full, I could just look up at that all night long. The food was pretty good too..

I am torn…the owners are a very hard working family but their customer service left a bit to be desired. This is truly a place that caters to a clientele geared towards hunting and outdoor adventure and we happened to arrive when they had a record snow winter and the lake was still frozen. The unit was cold and the thermostat had a lock box on it so we couldn’t heat. No cell service so we couldn’t reach the host to come turn up the heat.

I was happy to find Alexander Lake Lodge on Expedia because I was determined to stay there but the phone number on their website was not in operation. So communication was a problem. The Lodge is unique, staff are gracious. Our cabin was immaculate and reasonably priced. Bed was firm and comfortable. The area is absolutely gorgeous. Meals provided were excellent. Allover a fun place to stay.

We just stayed at the Alexander Lake Lodge a few days ago in one of the cabins. We were only stopping in for a night, got in around 4 pm or so. Despite the massive snow accumulation, our cabin was ready and accessible and you can tell they adapt well to extreme weather conditions. Anna and her daughter (I think?) were extremely friendly and accommodating upon our arrival and made sure we were fed. The chicken pot pie was incredible! Also really enjoyed the Polish beer. It was nice to get to know Anna, she stuck around to chat with us, and was a great hostess, made sure we had everything we needed. Would highly recommend!

Cozy Base for Cross Country Skiing
They are up on the Grand Mesa, only 15 minutes from the cross country skiing areas. The cabins are cozy and plenty warm. The lodge is a huge beautiful log building. They provided a great breakfast. We also purchased a delicious Polish dinner. The service was excellent.

Five star
Stayed in cabin 7. Smaller cabin, has been remodeled in the last few years, and clean. Limited menu at the lodge but all our drinks and meals were great and reasonably priced. Great hospitality from the Polish owners. Awesome place to feel like you’re getting away but are still close to any amenities you need.

Paradise in the Park
Having weathered a huge storm in Salt Lake City where we had to sit on the highway while multiple crashed cars were cleared, we arrived late to Alexander Lodge. The mom gladly cooked delicious pot pies and a wonderful salad for us that we took to our cabin. We were so grateful for her hospitality after an 11 hour drive. The cabin had a GREAT gas fire heater, a complete kitchen, and huge king sized bed. We had our own deck that overlooked the Grand Mesa National forest! We sat at the window and watched the arrival of that storm we outran in SLC. Such beautiful snow! Our deck was shoveled for us. And we had lattes while looking at the snow covered trees. The lodge itself is AMAZING! Just beautiful. The dining room was also amazing, with a view out several windows of the National Forest!! Wonderful lodge furnishings. The mom decorates for each season, our season being fall harvest with an overlay of Halloween, so well done. Plentiful breakfast was served buffet style. The drive from Highway 70 to the Lodge was about the most beautiful drive I have ever taken. One of the properties had a flock of peacocks. This was my husband’s last road trip-he is nearly 80 and unwell-so we unfortunately will not be able to return to this paradise in the park. He shoveled the snow from around our car like a champion, but his physical condition just deteriorated that morning and we spent part of the next day in an ER….he is recovering at home now and has fond memories snow on trees!

The cabin was cute and cozy. Way up in the my mountains! If looking for a camping type experience, it was pretty. But we just needed a place to sleep and had to leave early before breakfast.

The cabin was cozy but adequate, bed was comfy. The view from the cabin was beautiful. The owners are polish and cooked the most incredible polish platter for us for dinner. Sausage, pirogies, stuffed peppers, potato salad, sourkraut plus homemade tiramisu for dessert. Call ahead for hours, they closed at 5pm. Breakfast had homemade pastries that melt in your mouth. I would stay here again!

Very relaxing 3 day stay, quiet. Beautiful view of lake w/short walk down to lake. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Will definitely consider staying here again. Would have been nice to have had paper towels and coffee filters available in the cabin as these were not items we had brought.

Thank you for staying with us we have everything available here at the lodge coffee filters no chare for those but if you want a paper towels napkins we have them as well but you have to pay for them a separate fee. Thank you Anna

Alexander stay
Over all very nice, parking area could be improved, backing out to main road is not good. Could have used a few more supplies like napkins or paper towels, again over all was very pleasant.
