Allessandro is a fabulous host, the views are stunning and the house is so rustic
We were welcomed by some lovely wine produced from the vines around the house itself, what a start! Allessandro was so helpful with everything from restaurant reservations through helping me to plot out which vineyards to visit and in precisely which order (twice!). He showed me around his own wine production facilities hidden away nearby to the property. The pool is saltwater which is far better as a general swimming experience and it's all about a metre and a half deep so the youngest (5) was confident swimming as she could bounce off the bottom of the pool easily when needed. You should be prepared to do a lot of home cooking (we love that so this was perfect). There are lots of great sights to see nearby but the winding roads mean it takes a fair while to cover distances, that's worth noting for oldies. My only pointer for allessandro would be to add lots of heavyweight shade for around the pool for white English people like me. He made a great job of gathering together some umbrellas for us last minute and those were an absolute lifesaver for us, the house being on a wonderful hilltop with fantastic views comes with the advantage of a breeze by the pool... but that also takes down any lightweight umbrellas. Overall this was a five star stay, around the house we saw porcupines and wild boar and deer and all sorts of other treats, such is the isolation and natural beauty of the place. I'd love to add photographs to this review - spectacular views, no exaggeration. Thanks allessandro (also for the surprise gift on my birthday since he noted the date in my passport!!) - lovely man
