  • #TroveOn Yes, Monteriggioni just might be the quintessential walled medieval village in Tuscany. It's small enough to perhaps be called "cute" but you won't catch me using this term. Monteriggioni began as a border fortress built on a round hill by Sienna against the Florentines. It is famous for the intact defensive structure that held up against repeated Florentine attacks in the 11th century; its 10 meter high walls and 14 towers can still be seen for miles around. Monteriggioni has been featured in movies as a typical medieval village. The village is slightly elliptical in shape with two gates (a third has been plugged). The major gate tourists will use when coming from the parking lot, Porta Franca, owes its name to the Via Francigena--Monteriggione was a major stop on the pilgrimage trail from Cantebury to Rome. The Romanesque Church of Santa Maria Assunta will offer assistance with housing for modern pilgrims traveling the Francigena pilgrimage route. Monteriggioni was a sleepy village of farmers and sheep herders as late as the 1960's. Today it exists entirely for tourists and pilgrims. You'll find wine shops, a tasting room, restaurants and hotels in the small village. This is not neccessarily a disadvantage, although some times it's nice to see some locals puttering about once in a while. Where is Monteriggioni? Monteriggioni is located in the province of Siena, 14km to the northwest of Siena (54km from Florence). While it can be done as a day trip from Siena, you might be better off staying the night--Monteriggioni is much more evocative when the tourists leave late in the afternoon and you can sit in a courtyard sipping a glass of Chianti. Monteriggioni is surrounded by vineyards, and is known for its wine production.

Lovely home overlooking the Tuscan hillside

Our stay in Sara's house was wonderful! She's was very helpful and responsive during our visit. She had to wait over an hour for us to arrive because we got lost and was so patient and kind! The house is lovely! It's spacious and comfortable and over looks the stunning Tuscan hillside. The views take your breath away! The outside patio area is beautifully landscaped with several seating areas to relax and take in the beauty. We had our breakfast outside every morning. The outside seating area is on a lower level so you do have to navigate stairs to access the patio. The bedrooms are on the same level, also one flight below the kitchen and living room. The house is conveniently located-- 20 min to Siena and close to many other Tuscan hillside towns. We hope to return next year!

Interessanter Urlaub

Leider ist der Mittler Herr Simone Veniziano nicht so zuverlässig mit seine Zusagen, dies führt zu mehr Korrespondenz als eigentlich erforderlich. Ich hatte nach der Beschreibung und den Kritiken gehofft einen ruhigen Urlaubsort zu finden. Leider liegt das Haus direkt einer kleinen Landstraße; diese ist leider recht lebhaft befahren. Im übernächsten Nachbarhaus befindet sich ein Hund, der fast ca. 60% des Tages bellt. Die Küche im Haus ist verbesserungswürdig, vor allem auch wenn mehr als 2 Personen im Haus untergebracht sind. Außerdem finde ich es unhygienisch, dass die zur Verfügung gestellten Decken mit einem Überzug geschoben werden können und nur lose Bettlacken vorhanden sind. Was schön ist, ist die Aussicht und der kleine Garten mit Schatten Möglichkeiten durch Bäume.

A wonderful Tuscany Villa

.Our first view of the villa was breathtaking, with its Tuscany style stone construction and breathtaking views of the beautiful rolling hills and vineyards of the surrounding countryside. The interior of the villa was beautiful as well, and had all the modern conveniences. This was just the place to unwind after an intense 10-day tour of Italy.

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus in der Toskana

Wir haben eine Woche in LeRedi verbracht und uns dort sehr wohlgefühlt. Das Haus ist sehr schön und liebevoll eingerichtet. Die Ausstattung war wirklich sehr gut wobei auch wir einen Wasserkocher vermisst haben. Der Garten und die Terrasse sind sehr gepflegt und es gibt viele verschiedene Sitzgelegenheiten. Wir haben vor allem die Sonnenuntergänge sehr genossen. Vom Haus aus hat man einen wunderschönen Blick auf das Dorf und die umliegende Landschaft. Auch wir können das LeRedi uneingeschränkt empfehlen

Tolles Ferienhaus mitten in der Toskana

Wir haben zwei Wochen im Le Redi verbracht und den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Das Haus ist für vier bis fünf Personen ausreichend groß und modern und dennoch gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Ausstattung war nahezu komplett, als Teetrinker haben wir nur einen Wasserkocher vermisst. Im Haus war es immer angenehm kühl, auch wenn die Tage deutlich über 30 Grad hatten. Eine Tolle Terrasse und ein schöner Garten boten Platz für Erholung. Einen Pool gibt es nicht, haben wir aber nicht vermisst. Toll ist der überdachte Sitzbereich, dort hält man es bei Sonne oder auch mal einem kleinen Schauer gut aus. Die Lage des Hauses ist wirklich schön. Leicht erhöht mit einem tollen Blick auf das Dorf Quercegrossa und die umliegenden Hügel voller Weinreben und Olivenbäumen. Nach Siena sind es nur 15 Minuten. Die Straße neben dem Haus ist zwar nicht vollkommen ohne Verkehr, aber auch nicht wirklich störend. Fazit: absolute Empfehlung!

Easy and fast communication upfront. Very warm welcome and goodbye by the owner. The house was great for us and our dog. Clean, big, lovely rooms and, great and modern kitchen and bathrooms, equipped with everything you need. The garden is big with such a nice view. We loved to stay there!

Amazing stay

Sara's house is just perfect. The views are breathtaking and the house is spacious, light and airy and has everything you could want for a great holiday. Sara is a lovely welcoming host and kept in touch during the holiday to check everything was ok. The garden is private and quiet and we spent a lot of time sat out there enjoying the astonishing views. The nearest village Quercegrossa is a 15 minute walk away and has an ice-cream and patisserie shop and a great village shop with deli counter and butcher counter. We had a brilliant holiday and we will definitely return.

Amazing experience!

Cannot say enough good things about this listing. The house is absolutely beautiful, and Sara is the perfect host. It was both the most beautiful house, and in the most beautiful location, of anywhere we have stayed. While we had complete privacy, we also felt totally welcomed. We’re so grateful for all the effort Sara put into making our stay so incredible. The views are even more amazing than the pictures portray, the garden is lovely, and the house is cozy, comfortable, and clean. The location is really great for exploring Tuscany—it’s a short drive to Siena, but in a stunning part of the countryside, close to many wineries and within an hours drive from many of the major tourist destinations. We want to live there! Still waiting to see if Sara is willing to trade houses with us :)

Wonderful stay in Tuscany

We loved our stay at Le Redi. The house was beautiful, with incredible views of the area and all the comforts of home. Our host was so thoughtful and helpful with any questions we had. The apartment included some toys for our kids to play with, which was a lovely surprise. Highly recommend!

Außergewöhnlich angenehm

Sehr schöne Lage mit Panoramablick über die Hügel des Chianti. Große Terrasse, gepflegter Garten, alles top in Ordnung. Die Ausstattung lässt kaum Wünsche offen. Klimatisierung des ganzen Hauses über eigenen Strom aus Photovoltaik. Sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Vermieterin. Sehr empfehlenswert für Familien, viel Platz.

Very beautiful place to stay in the Chianti

Great location between Siena and Florence, nice house cooled by geothermia, confortable beds, large rooms, access to a barbecue, and a nice terrace to have meals outside. The kitchen is fully equipped, there is dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, enough hygenic paper for the stay, and complimentary soap bars. Be careful about the wasps as a few get inside during the warm days, check the curtains of the living room when you get back from your day trip (my son got stung twice as he was playing near the curtains). Other than that, a sensational welcome with an apple cake, many tips to visit and avoid the crowds, the Mulino was great also to cool down during the canicule with the kids as there isn't a swimming pool. The view is breathtaking from the windows and balcony on olive groves and vineyards.

Trotz Dauerregen schöner Aufenthalt!

Gepflegtes Haus mit abgeschlossenem Gartenbereich direkt an der Verbindungsstraße zum Dorf. Als Ausgangspunkt sind alle Sehenswürdigkeiten gut mit dem Fahrzeug zu erreichen. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten im 1 km entfernten Dorf vorhanden (Supermarkt und "Marcelleria La Bottega"). Weine und Öl natürlich ab Hof in der Umgebung! Küchenutensilien verbesserungswürdig – verhungert sind wir aber nicht. Sehr nette Gastgeberin/Vermieterin die einige Tipps für einen gelungenen Urlaub in der Toskana parat hat. Gracie Sara.

Sehr gepflegtes Anwesen in toller Lage. Die Vermieterin ist sehr hilfsbereit und zuverlässig. Zur Begrüßung bekamen wir sogar selbstgebackene toskanische Kekse. Siena ist recht nah und auch Volterra, san gimignano, Chianti classiko sind gut mit dem Auto zu erreichen.

Fantastic location, beautiful view

A centrally located (in Tuscany) property out of the Siena hustle and bustle but yet within easy reach. Property is well set up with all essentials and well equipped for families.

Fantastic property and great location for a base when touring Tuscany

We landed at a flooded Rome Airport, waited 3 1/2 hrs for our luggage and drove to Quercegrossa, arriving later than planned. Irene graciously greeted us, showed us around the house and handed us the keys. We knew immediately we had made an excellent choice of accommodation for our month's stay in Tuscany. In the ensuing days we met Sara the delightful owner, who insisted we made her beautiful "Green House" our home for the duration of our stay. We couldn't have hoped for a more comfortable and well appointed home - but the spectacular views are what will remain with us, etched in our memories and hopefully captured on film. We were fortunate enough to share the beauty of the Region and especially "Le-Redi" with family and friends at various times during our stay. With so much to do and see - we explored majestic hilltop cities, enjoyed wonderful local cured meats, cheeses and of course the fabulous wines! We even got to watch the annual Chianti Classico (vintage) Car Race from Quercegrossa to Castellina in Chianti. What a spectacle! So much fun, and so many beautifully restored cars. Sara offered us great advice which helped us plan trips to Florence and Venice. Her local knowledge was invaluable to us. She was the perfect host - available when needed, yet respectful of our privacy. It was a joy and a privilege to stay in her lovely house. We had some good restaurant meals in the area, but what gave us most pleasure was cooking "at home" with all the lovely ingredients we sourced on our daily excursions. My brother-in-law cooked a fabulous Risotto Ai Funghi Porcini. My husband, being Australian and loving to BBQ, cooked us wonderful Bistecca alla Fiorentina, which were the best we've ever eaten! Our dear friends Louise and Bill made us their delicious version of Pollo alla Cacciatora. With a few glasses of Chianti Classico and views to die for - who could want for more?

Nous avons passé un tres agréable séjour, dans une tres belle propriété,spacieuse,climatisée et décorée avec goût. La situation est idéale â 10 mn de Sienne,au calme avec un agréable jardin. Sahra la propriétaire est charmante. Nous y reviendrons certainement et nous conseillons vivement le REDDY Eve et Daniel
