Our stay was lovely! Wish we could have stayed for so much longer! We loved the enchanting walk to the the small medieval town of San Gums through vineyard and olive grows and cypress trees! Absolutely stunning scenery. The location of the villa was perfect for visiting all the towns in the region. The villa itself was fantastic! We cooked most nights and had everything we needed. The Villa as spacious, clean, and very comfortable. We felt right at home. The pool was beautiful and exactly as pictured. We were 3 adults so we had tons of space. Could not have asked for a better experience! Highly Highly highly recommend!

🌟 A Perfect Stay in a Beautiful Villa 🌟 We had a wonderful time staying at this villa! It was incredibly spacious and comfortably accommodated all six of us. The house was thoughtfully equipped with everything we could possibly need, making it feel like a true home away from home. The shared pool—only between three villas—was clean, peaceful, and felt very private, which was a lovely bonus. One of our favorite parts of the stay was exploring the scenic walking trails through the surrounding vineyards. The views were absolutely stunning and led us to a charming little village where we enjoyed a delicious dinner one evening. The villa is also conveniently located within driving distance of another quaint town that has a great ice cream parlour, a cozy restaurant, and a grocery store for essentials. All in all, this was the perfect spot for a relaxing and memorable getaway. Highly recommended!

Lovely, authentic Tuscan home

We had a lovely stay at Casa del Poggio! The house is very authentic and you feel like you live in Tuscany. The Arceno area is beautiful and we really enjoyed the small towns nearby. We had great communication and very accommodating check in and out and cleaning—all so friendly! The wine provided was very nice and we cooked many nice meals in the kitchen. We just had a few ideas for future improvement: an umbrella for the main terrace would be nice as it’s south facing and very hot in the summer, a different system with the doors would be helpful as it was difficult to get in and out and you also risked being locked out, and lastly, a few more updates such as the TV and appliances and perhaps a sound system to play music. Overall, we enjoyed it a lot here and thank the hosts for this experience!

Lovely stay in Chianti

We had a great time during our stay at a quiet country estate in Chianti with plenty of activities within a short drive. The property is well maintained and we enjoyed cooking Italian steaks on the American Weber Barbecue.

Lovely Tuscan Country Home

Property built in the 1600's updated to accommodate a modern family! Beautiful Tuscan countryside just outside your door! Pool is a welcome addition for summer stays. Owner (Marina) and caretaker (Emanuela) are communicative and very very responsive! The welcome basket with perfect food choices helped start our 8 day stay! We loved the small medieval village, San Gusme as well as the larger town of Castelnuovo Berardenga. Close to Siena and Florence. (Firenze) Perfetto! Grazie Mille!

Great stay in Tuscany

This was a great villa in the Chianti region. The villa suited our group of six. The location was ideal for visiting Siena, Florence and surrounding towns. Roberto responded immediately to any questions we had. A welcome basket was wonderful, supplying any immediate breakfast or snack needs. The wine was a pleasant surprise also. Be sure to follow Roberto's written instructions to the villa. GPS gets you close but his instructions are needed! Would definitely recommend.

Celebrating 45 years of friendship

Everything was perfect, from check in to check out. The property is lovely and the villa is everything you’d expect to see in an Italian country villa. The hosts also connected us with a chef to cater a dinner and a cooking class! Highly recommend! Grazie mille a Roberto and Marina ! x

The Most Idyllic Escape for the Best of Friends

We had the most amazing time at Il Poggio! The property is well maintained, Roberta and Marina were incredible, and the location could not be beat. We took day trips (by car) to Siena, Arezzo, Florence, Orvieto, and Montalcino, all of which were easily and quickly accessible. Each of our five guests (two couples, one single!) had their own floor and bathroom. We cooked in the well-stocked kitchen, drank wine while watching the sunrise on the patio, and were transported to the past walking through the vineyards to San Gusmè. I cannot recommend this property enough, and I hope to be back one day!

Amazing property in a beautiful location/

Stayed for 5 night in mid October with pleasantly warm weather. The pool was still open which was an unexpected plus. Walking distance to San Gusme, for lunch and lots of interaction with local people. Nearby to many interesting day trips,with areas to be with family. The terrace is perfect for outdoor meals and activities throughout the day. Special thanks to Marina and Roberto for checking on us and answering any questions.

Wonderful Tuscan paradise that provided the perfect foundation for exploring the Tuscan countryside. Our hosts (Roberto and Marina) were available for every question and/or recommendation. Best Hosts EVER

We had an amazing stay at this picturesque villa. So close to many wineries and small towns (with a car) Cannot beat the morning walks amount the vines with the small walled town of San gasme within walking distance We had a local cheff come cook us homemade pasta! But the absolute best part was knowing we could contact Marina at anytime and have our needs/questions met. Thank you Marina and Roberto for sharing this villa. And for their son Carlo for his extra hospitality. We will always remember your kindness xo

A wonderful place to connect

Beautiful and spacious farmhouse with a pool--which our 7 and 9 year old girls enjoyed VERY much. Immaculate. Great support from our hosts. We had such a relaxing time together, including card playing under a tree and nightly dinners on the terrace. Grazie Marina & Robert (and Roberta) !!

Peaceful retreat

We loved our time in this private villa in San Gusme. Perfect for our family of 6 with space for everyone and lots of different outside seating areas. We did day trips to Florence, San Gimignano and Siena. We walked through the vineyards to San Gusme and ate at the local bruschetta restaurant and we took the opportunity to have someone come in and give us a cooking class which was definitely a highlight of our holiday. Marina and Roberto was so easy to correspond with straight from the start and they could not have done more for us. Roberta, the housekeeper who speaks no English was lovely and with a little help from google translate, we understood each other! The Chianti on-site was amazing too!! Would return.

Wonderful repeat stay!

We just completed our second stay at this amazing villa, and it was even better than before! Marina is a wonderful host - attentive and easy to communicate with. The peaceful grounds of Villa Arceno can’t be beat (including the pool!). And the addition of air conditioning in the bedrooms and kitchen area since our last stay was such a wonderful bonus on those warmer Tuscany days and nights. My kids and husband are already asking when we can go back!

Pleasant villa in a hideaway location in tuscany

We stayed a week. Perfect organisation, well equipped house. Excellent and very quiet location. Very friendly and helpful owner. Lots of local information provided. Only drawback was the pool, which is a shared one 3 min footwalk away - didn't recognize this before. The pool is excellent though. Usable after 10 o clock ( there is a robot cleaning from 7-10).

A wonderful villa in a beautiful setting. You could not ask for more; the accommodations, the pool, the vineyards, and the surrounding area were all stunning. If you want to experience Tuscany and all it has to offer, then this is the place to stay.

We cannot wait to return! A wonderful stay in Tuscany

Due to COVID, our long-planned stay in Tuscany to celebrate my son's University graduation was postponed 3 years. Expectations were high and it was worth the wait. Marina and Roberto were outstanding hosts, responsive and generous with their help. Their villa was as beautiful as the photos, the setting even prettier, with rose bushes lining the steps to the front door. On the afternoon arrival Marina and Roberto took us through the vineyards on the walk to the walled city of San Gusme, 10 minutes away. Surrounded by rolling hills it was breathtaking. The welcome basket other reviewers mentioned was just what was needed after a day of travel (and their Chianti very good). The villa had all the comforts needed, lovely linens, fully appointed kitchen and terrace for meals outdoors. (The pool was a 3 minute walk, in another gorgeous setting). Marina arranged for a chef, Giovanna, to come in and cook for us one night. This was a highlight of a trip filled with highlights. During our 12 days we reached out to Marina several times, she responded quickly with excellent problem-solving or suggestions. Highly recommend our hosts and this property if you too are looking for a blissful time in Tuscany.

Quaint Tuscan Villa

Wonderful small Tuscan villa with good location. We even enjoyed many of the local towns close to the villa itself, though Siena, Montalcino, Montepulciano etc are not far. Marina was helpful in helping us set up dinner and winery reservations, tennis, and a cooking class at the villa with Giovanna. Access to pool was also great on the hotter days. We had some minor issues throughout that were dealt with promptly by Marina. There will be other properties that are bigger or have better views, but this is a versatile option with great value.
