I'm sorry that Amy had such a bad experience at my family's cabin. I imagine it was pretty disturbing to show up to a cabin that had not been cleaned yet from the guest before. Our cleaning company had made a scheduling mistake. Although mistakes happen, I was honestly very embarrassed as I love sharing our family's cabin with our guests. If you can imagine having houseguests show up and your house is a complete mess, it's embarrassing! When she called, I was very apologetic and even offered a refund for our cleaning company's scheduling issue. I'm not sure, but perhaps she thought I was annoyed because she wanted to list all the things that she saw around our cabin that were leftover from the last guests, and frankly, I was most concerned with getting the situation taken care of as quickly as possible! I guess this brief interaction rubbed her the wrong way, because it seems that her mind was made up that our home was unfit for her family from the very beginning. I did warn our cleaning company that the place sounded like it was a huge mess and would probably take a long time to clean due to the extent to which Amy described the mess left behind. However, our cleaners said it was actually left fairly clean by the guests before and that the kitchen hadn't even been used. I do think that she left this review, prior to me issuing the refund that I promised, so there may have been some animosity there as well. Either way, I have talked with our cleaning company about her concerns for the cleanliness. My husband and I were at the cabin shortly before Amy stayed there, doing some maintenance and updating and although it's not perfect, we definitely didn't find things to be as bad as described. Perhaps, we're just biased because we love our home away from home! I definitely appreciate the notes on the screens. We will get those replaced as soon as possible. Just a few notes on some of Amy's comments: Our coffee table, is this old trunk that was made into a table which, at least I thought, was pretty unique and cool. It's vintage, rustic and isn't perfect by design but definitely does need to be reviewed for sharp metal pieces if they exist. Which we will do. Also, our kitchen island top is repurposed from the dining table we had in the cabin before we remodeled the kitchen about 5 years ago. My husband is obsessed with re-purposing things, and actually has a novelty and woodworking business which relies almost completely on wood that he repurposes from other things. He has probably learned a lot since he put together that island, but at the time, we both thought it was a pretty cool use for that old kitchen table. It wasn't sticky when we were there a week before, so I'm not sure what happened in the mean time and will have to look into that. It could definitely be refinished at this point, but the patina was left originally to reflect the history of the table in our family's cabin. Finally, we have updated our outdoor furniture, which is why there isn't a picnic table anymore. Instead we have a dinner table and added a conversation set sitting area. So, the pictures do need to be re-taken to reflect the updates.
