The house itself is lovely. Clean, comfortable beds & linens, and great outdoor space in the back. It is also a straight shot to downtown Carmel in a safe neighborhood and very walkable. Getting into the driveway, however, involves crossing a large ditch and this was not disclosed to us. Fortunately I have an SUV so it wasn't a problem, but if you have a car that is low to the ground then you likely wouldn't be able to get in and out of the driveway and would have to park elsewhere. The lockpad on the door allowed us to unlock and enter but it would not allow us to lock the door from the outside so we had to lock the front door from inside then exit the house through a door in the back that we could lock and just close behind us. I notified the property manager and he said he would have someone come fix it but then never followed up and no one came to fix it. This brings me to communication with the property manager. We had a very unfortunate and unexpected death in the family and needed to adjust our stay. It also meant only half of us could be there. When I reached out to ask if he would give us a refund considering the circumstances his response was simply that it would be hard for him to rebook - no actual yes or no answer or options for any flexibility. I suggested that we could come for two other nights that week and requested he refund us for the third that we could not make. He was willing to shift the dates to allow for the nights that we could be there but refused to refund us for the third night that we could not be there. He said he would open it up on VRBO and refund us if it booked but when I looked it was not actually open for others to book. Best advice if you book this place - get the travel insurance.
