First, Hotels.com should not list this one-bedroom suite as a "Family Cabin". It is NOT a cabin, but the listing led us to believe it would be separate from other accommodations. Instead, it is attached to other suites, and noise can be heard from guests in other suites (including vibrating fans, slamming doors, yelling and screaming children and barking dogs, because this is a "dog friendly" inn).
While Carmel is charming, the street noise in the suite can be extreme. We heard loud buses, motorcycles, trucks and construction immediately outside our windows. Most of the noise we tried to ignore when we were trying to relax in the suite because we needed to keep windows open for good air circulation to cool the rooms (and fortunately the air was mostly clean and refreshing). But sometimes it was too much noise and we needed to close windows, which definitely blocked out a lot of the noise.
The staff were invariably pleasant and helpful. The continental breakfasts delivered to the door in picnic baskets were a nice touch. The Jacuzzi in the suite was a great amenity. And the free and mostly adjacent parking was very convenient.
